Morakniv Companion Sandvik Stainless Steel Fixed-Blade Knife with Sheath, 4.1 Inch

A Real Review
> 3 dayI have a number of Morakniv sizes and colors, both stainless and carbon blade, and I have always been pleased with them. I use them exclusively in the kitchen and around the house, so dont know how they might hold up in the bush or at the campsite. But I would bet they do fine for light to medium work. They stay sharp and are easy to clean, and take a touch up sharpening well. And they have one of the best, ergonomic handles I have experienced. Only thing people comment on is the sheath, which is plastic? and of a sort of weird shape compared to what a lot of people envision. But again, they seem substantial, hold the knife well, and are certainly waterproof. So, I do recommend these for the light to medium tasks both indoors and outdoors. And also for the good value they offer in a general utility knife.

> 3 dayObservations, very nice sheath with drainage and a decent belt clip with options to put on the wall. The knife walks into the sheath with confidence. The blade arrived razor sharp! Maybe laser Sharp! I got this knife for my camper to replace the cheap cooking knives that come in different colors. I wasnt expecting much for the price. You will not be disappointed. It has a 3/4 Tang and its really well balanced. It feels intuitive in my hand and the rubber grip is not that cheap stuff that starts to get sticky after a while. The colored plastic is hard but feel solid. Overall the knife is very light but feels strong and durable in my hand. I have read some reviews that are negative regarding the hilt and the blade but I guess I was lucky and got one that was made with care. They most likely use some sort of automated sharpening but they have perfected it. This quality and price is a rare find on amazon, I recommend not passing it up. My review is in no way solicited. Im just impressed.

> 3 day- It is a smidgen thicker than the carbon version. -12c27 steel is nice. It is a well balanced stainless. It doesnt give up on toughness where most stainless does. Its not the best edge retention though. Not incredibly stainless either. The edge dents and rolls when most stainless chips. It strops back to sharp nicely. Lateral strength is supposed to be good but i have not needed to pry anything with it yet. - It is a good choice for an outdoor/ hiking knife. maybe as a backup. The length to weight ratio is good - It is my second most used woodcarving knife. after the carbon version. comfortable. easy to control. easy to sharpen

> 3 dayIve never bought Morakniv before, so Im truly pleased with the high-quality blade and rubberized grip. The hilt before the blade tang could be a bit larger to prevent accidental hand or finger cutting when/if the handle slips, but I suspect this would make it even more of a challenge to get out of the tough sheath. No complaints about the sheath b/c of the price, though Im definitely looking for a sufficient molle-capable replacement so these will fit more easily on the back packs and provide a safer carry option for left-hander.

> 3 dayMy mushroom picking buddy thought the orange knives only came in carbon steel. We both work at sea where color and corrosion resistance are key. One of my favorite general purpose knives, and the stainless helps...

> 3 dayGot this today. It is sharp enough to create impending doom when skinned from the scabbard, so that makes it just about right. Nice sturdy blade with enough backbone to make it comforting and belief it will be there for you. Very nice handle and both of the configurations I own are extremely nice for a grip. Well above the price point. I played with it a little and the flex and strength of the steel seem very acceptable for my use. OK, now for the not so good. the blade measured 3 15/16 inch and not the 4.1. They are 3/4 tang knives, so if you just have to have a full tang, keep looking, but dont plan to be as impressed as these will leave you. Thats it. These are under $20 knives to varying degrees, and I am convinced you get a lot for your money. Any time I need a fixed blade in the future, these will be my Go To. A lot of bang for the buck. Very nice these days.
