I have several Mora knives including a Garberg, a Kansbol, a Forest Knife, a Robust, a Mora 2000 and even the serrated stainless boating knife, as well as some of their craft knives, several Companions and a Companion Heavy Duty. All of those are absolutely five-star knives with exceptional value for money. I really wasnt sure what Id use the Eldris for, but basically got it to try it out and because I thought it would match my Kansbol. The first thing I noticed was the color. Its a very different green from my other green Moras. This knife doesnt look like its pictures. Its a much paler, brighter green than I expected. The center part with the checkering almost looks yellow. Its so pale I thought it might glow in the dark (it doesnt). The second and more important negative is that this is the only Mora Ive ever purchased that wasnt light saber sharp. It cuts wood fine, but when I first took this knife out of the box it would not cut paper; it ripped through instead. This was a shock to me compared to every other Mora that Ive ever handled. The grind on my Eldris, as some other reviewers have experienced, was uneven and that makes it hard for me to sharpen or hone the knife properly. Possibly someone with better sharpening skills than mine could fix this issue. The handle is excellent, and the sheath is the typical Mora cheap but functional plastic that holds the knife very securely. Overall, however, the Eldris (at least the one I received), although decent, was a bit of a disappointment, especially for the price (I could have purchased two Mora Companions for what I paid for this 2-1/4 inch-blade Eldris).

As noted, I forgot my pocket knife - trusty and you never really realize how many times you use it till its missing... Fortunately my Eldris was in my backpack pouch. Moved it to my vest pocket and it became as accessible as my pocket knife; pulling it from the sheath was really no more than flipping my pocket knife open. In every was this little knife was so much more efficient than trusted my pocket knife. Im really considering changing my thinking about the knife I carry most. Hint; from my Kershaw Leek to the Eldris.

Got it for my boat. Sharp out of box. Cut myself first night.

Its perfect for every day use and carry. I picked one up for fishing and backpacking, but may just keep in pocket all the time. A lot of tasks only call for the tip of the blade, and thats what this knife is. Just the tip.

Glad I purchased. I was hesitant to buy because of sales picture but its exactly what I need. The Edris does the job better than any of the small neck knife family of knives. Until now I used neck knives to save space and weight, but you sacrifice utility for weight. The Mora is easy to use, fits hand well, no slip when gripped, sharp out of box, easy to pack, light. Im a convert and impressed. It lives up to the Mora brand reputation. Never thought Id like it as much as I do.

I watched an excellent Youtube video by Tengan65 where he explained 10 things this knife can do and 2 things it cant. I encourage you to watch the video if youre on the fence about making the purchase. Here is his list and my opinion now that Ive used this little knife for awhile. #1 Great for making Feather Sticks and very controllable. #2 Very good for scraping for the same reason. #3 Excellent for sparking a Ferro Rod. I mean really good! #4 Pretty good at cutting cordage and rope. #5 Good for cutting and slicing. #6 Excellent for opening boxes and cutting cardboard. #7 Fair for food prep such as carrots, onions etc. #8 Very good for Notching wood. #9 Pretty darn good for whittling and carving. #10 Decent for drilling into wood or making hole in softer wood. What it is not good for is... #1 Chopping anything #2 Batoning (Unless your batoning Popsicle sticks or tongue depressors.) I suggest you assess your needs and go from there. I give this little beast a rating of excellent and since the price came down considerably, I think its a super knife to carry as a secondary in the woods or a primary for simple EDC. Edit 3/21/18 OK, I have to admit that this little knife has been relegated to home use for opening packages and such. I just dont use it and I think that just about any other option from Mora would be a better choice than this one. Even the inexpensive Mora 511 is a better choice for most of us. I still stand by my review, I just dont need this.

Id give it 5 stars if I could hang it around my neck by the sheath and not by the knife

I just opened the package and from what I can see, from the factory, it will need a little bit of refining on the edge for it to be perfect... it is,however, sharp enough to shave with out of the package though... great little blade for pretty much everything you would use a pocket knife for
