> 3 dayIt broke the original chain open on a 2012 Yamaha R1 and crimped on a new 520 chain. Sport Bike Track Gear has a decent video on how to operate this if youd like a tutorial, as it were. It was a bit rough twisting the threads at first but keep it lubed and itll wear in just fine. Also, theres a certain art to mushrooming the crimp. Ill find out how I did this upcoming season.

Greater than one weekI have had a cheep chain tool from Harbor Freight and it was not even worth the $13 I paid, this is a well made chain tool that is not only easy to use but is well made. I have a 530 chain on one of my bikes and this took took care of it woth out a hitch. It will last a lifetime and do the job well.

> 3 dayThis was an older style unit (package said 2013) the older versions of this tool had production issues. I inspected the unit, and found internal components to be damaged, one part missing. I suspect this unit was used and returned, then repackaged.

> 3 dayI gave it four stars because it does the job. For an easy to use portable chain brake and presser its very good, the instructions are easy to follow and anyone can use it. You will need a spanner or socket set to use properly and a strong hand but it does the job very well. Thank you from Australia

> 3 daywell the tool did end up doing its job but the reason for two stars is when I was pushing the old rivet out ( and yes it was dead on straight ) the piece you thread in to the bigger threaded shaft became stripped towards the last 1/4 to get the rivet totally out.. So now the rivet extractor shaft threads are bad for the first 1/4 plus inch and I am thinking the larger threaded part is most likely damaged on the inner threads.. Now the tool is nice and heavy duty and yes all parts were greased every time I went to screw it in as I am a mechanic and have done this many times before.. The chain I broke down was a 520 and the little pin itself did great but like I said the very last few turns became very hard and when done I backed it all out and the threads were gone.. so for the first 2 inches or so it went flawlessly and the very end was very bad and I didnt crank it down fast as I know this will cause friction so I was going slow as to not bend pin or to heat the tool.. So I have to write to motion pro for these two pieces to get new as dont think I can use them again... other then that the chain riveted nice ( 530 chain ) as hell and has held up after this past weekend riding aggressively.

Greater than one weekI needed this tool to break an old chain and install a new chain with solid style rivet pins. This was not only the best priced option, but sleek looking with an innovative simple design that I thought would last a long time. This chain tool comes in a cool blue blow-mold case to hold everything, and comes with an spare pin which is good. I filed the pin head on the old chain flush with the connecting plate just like on the instructions, and then proceeded to line up the tool correctly to press out the pin. I got about midway through pressing out the old pin when it became pretty difficult to turn the press bolt. I kept turning slowly and the pin finally came out and I was able to get the old chain off. Unfortunately after i took the tool apart to see why it was hard to turn, i saw that the bottom of the bolt that presses against the extractor pin (the third object from the left in the main picture) had broken part of the bottom while in contact with the extractor pin. This tool comes oiled from the factory and I even applied a little grease to the threads to ensure this would not happen. I could not believe that on the very first use of this tool it had a piece break off! There is no replacement for this bolt available from motion pro yet, i dont know if that is because the tool is new or what but i will definitely need to get one soon. I am afraid to use the tool to break another chain, for fear of breaking the tool. Thankfully I could still use the tool to press on the rivet link of the new chain, and was able to start riveting the solid pins, but i need a vice to hold the tool because it is impossible to hold the tool with your hand and rivet the solid pins with a wrench. Also, the quad-stake rivet attachment for riveting solid pins is rectangular in shape and not round as the picture suggests. This is a better design so that the attachment wont spin around while youre trying to rivet those pins straight on. The attachment for riveting hollow-nose pins is round, like in the picture. All in all its a cool compact tool, and i do like its design but was a little disappointed with the strength of the top bolt and Motion Pro needs to have all the pieces available for replacement!
