It does a decent job. I had the impression it will make deeper marks on steel.

Excellent quality

Always used punches with hammer. This is my first spring loaded punch. Was very concerned that the point would round off very easily but to my surprise the point keeps its shape despite being used on carbon steel bed frames. This stuff is way harder than mild steel so the tool performs beyond expectations. The spring action is also very strong.

Much easier on your palm than the first one I got. Pleasure to use.

great for starting screws or counter-sinking finishing nails. This has a lot of power and it is adjustable so you dont have to worry about punching a nail too deep. I like the big red handle because it makes it easy to find and feels good in the palm of your hand.

Never had an adjustable center punch before. Thought I would not use the adjustable part at all. Well I do. It is a feature you will wonder why you did not get before.

I purchase this punch to have on the boat,not wanting to lose the Starrett auto punch away from the shop. Nice big red palm handle easy to find. Very disappointed,after 3>6 punchs something internally malfunctions,I disassemble, try to figure out whats up, become mentally unstable,at any moment will toss over board.

This made my life so much easier and looks cool I’m my overalls.
