The soft, red bulb handle is clearly the gizmo that sets this auto center punch apart from any others. And I like it. I use it in the traditional metal working sense, for centerpunching points to be drilled. Its spring isnt as strong as most other ACPs. So even adjusted to its strongest position, its a little light. So I find myself using two ACPs when laying out steel. This one first, followed by a stronger one. So Id consider this more like a prick punch than a center punch. I gave it a ding of one star simply for that reason. And you might even be able to stretch the spring or replace it with one from a stronger punch. I havent tried. For those keeping it in a car for glass breakage, Id want to be sure it was strong enough to do just that. Actually, your chances of ever needing it for that are like one in a gazillion. But if you want it to break safety glass, be sure you think its punch strength is strong enough.

Easy to use with great spring power for starter in hard materials

Other reviews have noted that the red handle show have the Neiko name on the handle. This one, purchased from Amazon and sent Prime, did not have the name. It still functioned as described. Made a nice drill hole punch in 16 gauge stainless. It lost one star as there are other no name punches that look like this one for less money. But, easy to use and works.

I bought one and it didn’t have any spring motion. I read some reviews saying the same thing but how can a simple mechanical device not work , right?! We’ll the replacement also doesn’t work. All it is is you pressing the tip to mark a spot. With your own strength, not the device. The device does nothing and is heavy. Not even a good paperweight as it rolls.

Does a fair job. Would be nice if it could make a larger, deeper punch.

Ive used it a couple of times now and it works well. Seems like this is the real deal, not a knockoff, but it does not have Neiko written on the handler like the photo.
