> 24 hourI take this everyday because I get cold sores. When my son was first born I decided to start donating my breast milk. But if you take the rx to get rid of your cold sores you can’t donate that milk for up to a week after you stop the rx. With the lysine I can donate while taking it, so super safe (according to my dr and the human milk bank) to take while pregnant nursing. I also double up the dosage when I’m getting a cold sore and the healing time is cut down so much!

> 24 hourI bought these for my husband after reading reviews that they can help to limit the frequency of heroe outbreaks. We are really not sure if they work or not. He takes one pill each day along with Vitamin C and echinacea to boost his immune system. He had began to have much more frequent outbreaks (during a stressful time) so I researched and read quite a few positive things about L-Lysine. It definitely didnt make matters worse so I would recommend these to anyone suffering from symptoms or outbreaks. He seems to be in a phase of much less outbreaks now and still takes the one capsule each day.

> 24 hourThis helps so much with fighting viruses. I cant tell if it helps with colds or not, but anything in the herpes family, it helps a lot. I cant have nuts or the CMV (cytomegalovirus, similar to mono) comes back, but if I counter-balance with this lysine, Im fine. It also has helped in treating shingles, which is unbelievably painful, and in preventing outbreaks. Someone gave me biscotti with only a few walnuts in it, and boom, shingles starting. Since using these with ANY arginine-rich foods, Ive been able to avoid getting any more. If anyone else is looking for shingles help, or anything in the herpes family, here is what has helped me the very most: 1. Lysine to compensate for arginine in foods. I use this brand and its perfect. 2. Durhams bee propolis supplement 3 times a day during an outbreak (but only if youre not allergic to bee stings). Or the queens delight, which contains propolis. 3. Vitamin C (I use this same brand in 1,000mg time release tablets) combined with green or black tea. Vitamin C on its own does not help. Tea on its own may or may not help. But when you combine the two, they help a LOT. If you feel the tingling of an outbreak looming, if you do enough tea & C quickly enough, the lesion will never even form! 4. Durhams wonder salve stops lesions from spreading and reduces pain and itching on existing lesions. 5. Vitamin C serum - yes the same kind people use for wrinkles and anti aging - apply this directly to the lesion. I may stop using the wonder salve, as the vitamin C serum seems to work faster. I had an especially stubborn lesion on my ankle that was not responding to the propolis salve (wonder salve), so on a whim, I tried the vitamin C serum I normally use on my face to prevent wrinkles. That stubborn lesion/scar had been itching and burning for weeks after the lesion appeared healed. The C serum cleared it the rest of the way in a few days. I hope this information helps someone else. This particular product (Now Foods Lysine) and their time-released vitamin C are invaluable tools in my Arsenal to fight any viruses in the herpes family, all of which stay with you for life.

> 24 hourWhen I search for NOW L Lysine 1000 mg it quickly comes up with a bottle that says 1000 mg. But when you click on it, it goes to the writing and it is changed into L Lysine 500 mg. I had this on auto ship but now have cancelled that order. I tried 2 times to talk to technical assistance and thought I had this corrected. But I got caught again. I do like the 1000 as that is the dosage the doctor had recommended for us. So for the price, it is more expensive because you are getting just half of what you think you are getting. If you want 1000 mg, you must take 2 tablets instead of just one.

> 24 hourI take l-lysine to help with the really painful canker sores i used to get quite frequently. Since Ive been taking it Ive noticed a pretty significant decrease in the number of sores i get. A lot of times even when i do feel one starting to form, it will go away in a day or 2 with minimal pain, as opposed to lasting for a week or more.

> 24 hourMy vocal therapist put me on this to strengthen the vocal chords as I have some inflammation and weak chords. Ive noticed improvement but one thing I didnt expect was this stuff actually has helped reduce my general anxiety. I am a big fan of the quality and price point of NOW Foods supplements and will continue using this. Especially after I learned the body needs this supplement but cant produce it naturally so you either need to get it from foods or through supplements. The more you know!

> 24 hourGood for your skin and immune system. If you get cold sores and such. A regimen of l-lysine is a must. I love this brand, as soon as I feel the tingle of a cold sore, I raise my dose and usually never get one, while also using a lysine based lip balm. Zinc and generally eating healthy and other good supplements for the immune system.

> 24 hourLysine is a godsend for shingles but when I have an outbreak I have to take A LOT of these. These 500mg capsules are easier to swallow than the 1000mg tablets but I prefer the tablets bc of the larger dose in one pill. I try to take 1-2000mg/day for maintenance and up to 10,000mg/day during a breakout depending on how fast I catch it and how bad it is. Either way Lysine is a must! Aside from that it seems to brighten my complexion and I think it helps a bit with nerves and stress. Tip for taking the larger 1,000 mg tablets: First, drink some water before to ensure mouth and throat is not dry. Then when taking tablet, let it swim around in your mouth for ? 5-10 seconds ? just long enough to dampen the outside of the tablet. Even better, take it with a heavier liquid like juice or milk. Hope that helps. Here’s to your health!!

> 24 hourI have been taking this for years and not gotten one single cold sore.. where I used to get them all the time.. If you are bothered with constant cold sores this is the remedy for you.. only wish the capsules were a little smaller..
