I have taken 1000 mg of NOW L-Lysine capsules ever since my accident on Sept. 2012. I am a left handed person and was hit from behind by a kid who was not paying attention to my car stopped at the intersection. The tendon in my back was so badly damaged that I was forced to use my right hand for 7 months (that was no easy feat)! I was going to my chiropractor every day and also working with obvious limitations. I like to heal naturally, if possible, so I did some research online and was encouraged to try taking L-Lysine to help me. I like the NOW brand of supplements and take several of them daily, so I ordered them from Amazon (just ordered more because my dbf is now taking them). I credit these capsules (along with the hard work of my chiropractor) with my speedy recovery. My tendon has healed back up and my left hand is back in charge! I still take it every day and will continue to take it. I did not suffer any side effects from it whatsoever - it just helped my body to heal at a faster rate.

When I search for NOW L Lysine 1000 mg it quickly comes up with a bottle that says 1000 mg. But when you click on it, it goes to the writing and it is changed into L Lysine 500 mg. I had this on auto ship but now have cancelled that order. I tried 2 times to talk to technical assistance and thought I had this corrected. But I got caught again. I do like the 1000 as that is the dosage the doctor had recommended for us. So for the price, it is more expensive because you are getting just half of what you think you are getting. If you want 1000 mg, you must take 2 tablets instead of just one.

It boosts my immune system

The size and consistency of these are so easy to swallow and absorb and no stomach upset even on an empty stomach and they work. I take them whenever I bite the inside of my mouth or get a sore mouth or even a sore throat. It is gone within a day or two.

I bought this for a friend who had cold sores and he took some at the beginning of an outbreak and he says it went away in 3 days before blowing up to uncontrollable proportions. This is great. I have seen his bad days adn they are pretty bad. The situation usually doesnt go away for like 3 or 4 weeks but with this it went away in 3-5 days max. Since taking these he has also felt more hope and started a new diet. You have to take away l-arginine from your diet some way to help with the cold sores. So he has reduced this , you cant eliminate it completely because the arginine is an essential amino acid and your body needs it. The lysine, decreases arginine Ive read so it helps keep the cold sores at bay. Im glad it helped my friend, he was going through some tough times because of it. Try it, you never know. He has reported no side effects.

I bought the larger count size and was going to send it back and purchase a smaller bottle. My husband takes the L-Lysine also and we both take it daily. We like the Now brand so I will not be returning it. We purchase the Now products in other supplements and would not change.

I was picking up every cold in the world for several months; my doctor recommended taking 500 mg of Lysine and 500 mg of Vitamin C. Ive gone for two months now and havent even picked up the slightest cold, even with 9 kids in the house who have had colds. Now thats quite a feat, considering I also have a newborn and dont always get my sleep. So its great for the immune system, which I did not know. Its also great for removing warts. My husband had quite the colony of plantars warts on the bottom of his feet and after taking 1000 mg of this for 2 months they all disappeared. He had spent TONS of money on the acid and day after day digging (ew, sorry if TMI) and burning the guys; if he had known it was so easy to get rid of them just by popping a natural pill, then he would have done it long ago.
