NOW L-lysine 500 mg, 250 Capsules

I was turned onto Lysine-L supplements by my hygienist and its been life-changing. Basically never get them anymore after suffering from them my whole life. Make sure to get this capsule version--there are tablets out there but they dont go down as easily. Ive taken two capsules a day for a few years and have had no adverse side effects or changes to my annual blood work.

I have had cold sores for my entire life. I have usually taken only Acyclovir 800mg once a day. With only that, Id get cold sores about once every two to three months. Since Ive been taking L-Lysine 2000 - 3000 mg a day at night, I havent had a cold sore for over 6 months. So, at night, Id take 4 of these and then another 2 in the morning. No issues or side affects. These are capsules and are very easy to swallow. If youre looking to buy L-Lysine, dont get the hard pills, they are very hard and scrape on their way down when taken. Also, When Ive felt sores coming on, I usually take 2 to 4 of these and use Abreva and Acyclovir and bingo, they either dont show up or Ive actually seen the bumps simply go away. WOW! its worth every penny!!!

Im fighting with herpes on my lips and even on the nose for decades. The only remedy is Acyclovir, and lately I had to take 800 mg twice a day to stop it when Im getting sick, or treat when I missed it starting. After Ive bought L-lysine, Im taking 500 mg of it twice a day for a month now. First few days I took one pill only to see how Ill react to it. No side effects, but I felt that a cold sore healed faster. Then for several weeks I had to continue Acyclovir, but slowly decreased the dose, and now I take only one 800 mg pill occasionally, even after I had bronchitis treated with antibiotics (which guarantees cold sores after). It definitely works. A bottle is huge, 250 capsules. I have almost 200 left, it is enough for 3 more month. Ill add to this review how things will be going after another month or two. If I can get away from Acyclovir, Ill be very happy. It is damaging for joints if you have arthritis.

When I search for NOW L Lysine 1000 mg it quickly comes up with a bottle that says 1000 mg. But when you click on it, it goes to the writing and it is changed into L Lysine 500 mg. I had this on auto ship but now have cancelled that order. I tried 2 times to talk to technical assistance and thought I had this corrected. But I got caught again. I do like the 1000 as that is the dosage the doctor had recommended for us. So for the price, it is more expensive because you are getting just half of what you think you are getting. If you want 1000 mg, you must take 2 tablets instead of just one.

I gave this to my dog per vets advice. He was on medication which brought down his immune system and caused some other issues. We have since gotten him off the other medication and have been giving him 1000mg/day for 3 weeks and his issues have cleared up. I have also been able to start giving this to our puppy who is having issues as his immune system has not fully developed yet. My puppys issues have cleared up as well within 2 weeks of starting this.

I was sick of paying 17 bucks for the smallest tube Ive ever seen of Abreva to treat my cold sores. I needed another solution and I just searched and searched. Then this amino acid popped up and I gave it a shot. Im very glad I did. I take it ever single day. Ill take 1000 mg everyday and when days that I feel a cold sore coming or a big event Im nervous about is happening Ill take 2-3000 mg for 3 days straight. It works amazing. I would get cold sores one after the other after the other. Maybe one a month. Thats awful and it looks bad. I get maybe 3 a year now more like two and they last very very short amount of time. Now if I actually see a cold sore coming in I will using L lysine plus which is a very inexpensive cold sore medicine along with this. other than that the cold sores are so reduced since taking this that I cant recommend it enough. OH and dont buy the 1000 mg pill is like a horse pill and terrible to try to get down. Get these take two and thank me later.

Lysine is a godsend for shingles but when I have an outbreak I have to take A LOT of these. These 500mg capsules are easier to swallow than the 1000mg tablets but I prefer the tablets bc of the larger dose in one pill. I try to take 1-2000mg/day for maintenance and up to 10,000mg/day during a breakout depending on how fast I catch it and how bad it is. Either way Lysine is a must! Aside from that it seems to brighten my complexion and I think it helps a bit with nerves and stress. Tip for taking the larger 1,000 mg tablets: First, drink some water before to ensure mouth and throat is not dry. Then when taking tablet, let it swim around in your mouth for ? 5-10 seconds ? just long enough to dampen the outside of the tablet. Even better, take it with a heavier liquid like juice or milk. In early 2019, I started getting horrible canker sores CONSISTENTLY in my mouth. I’d have them on the sides of my tongue, inside my cheeks, and behind my lips. Even a tiny accidental bite to my mouth would cause one, and it would be huge and painful and last for weeks.
