NOW L-lysine 500 mg, 250 Capsules

Updated to say that sweet Curly did not improve and had to be put down. Various antibiotics did not work for him and whatever illness he contracted in the Ohio wilderness. Rest easy, Sweet Curls. ****** I am giving my sick cat one capsule in each can of cat food for his stubborn upper respiratory kitty cold. He seems to maybe be improving, but he is already on 2 kinds of antibiotics. I will also take this myself if I get a recurrence of shingles.

I ordered these after reading a peer reviewed article discussing the benefits of taking L-Lysine along with iron or vitamin D. I had bariatric surgery over twenty years ago and I struggle to maintain my iron and D levels. I started taking these as soon as the shipment arrived and last month, my labs showed a remarkable improvement! I am going to continue my regimen and see what my next lab report shows. I am just amazed that after spending so much money on a variety of supplements, to discover that all I needed was to add L-Lysine to my regimen!

Even though theyre not small (they are 1 inch by 5/16ths) these capsules wash down very easily with a swallow of water. I dont have dysphagia, but I do get freaked out when I have to swallow large tablets. Another advantage, Im guessing, is these capsules can be assimilated faster than the tablets, which have the potential for just passing through the GI tract, unabsorbed. Taking six daily, Ive already staved off a herpes simplex outbreak on my lip since receiving these just a week ago.

This works very well for us, keeps cold sores from developing or helps so much if they do. I am prone to shingles so taking this product everyday helps keep that under control. I gave 4 stars only because I ordered a bottle on Oct. 28 and have not received it, was not in the box with other items. Havent been successful in getting another sent so Im re-ordering as we dont want to be without it.

I think it would be nice if the capsules had a color, even 1 side. Since it seems all the supplements are clear capsules hard to portion them into a pill box and knowing that youve got all you need...lysine looks like the magnesium/potassium and the biotin as well, and even the brain stuff.

I was turned onto Lysine-L supplements by my hygienist and its been life-changing. Basically never get them anymore after suffering from them my whole life. Make sure to get this capsule version--there are tablets out there but they dont go down as easily. Ive taken two capsules a day for a few years and have had no adverse side effects or changes to my annual blood work.

This is a great product for cats with feline herpes virus, an incurable and unpleasant respiratory illness that causes the cat to continually sneeze and suffer from sores in the mouth, discharge from both eyes and nose, and possibly tooth resorption as well. Although there is no cure for feline herpes and the infection is lifelong, l-lysine does a great job of eliminating the respiratory symptoms since it inhibits replication of the virus. She did not test for the disease but told me to try Viralys and if it cleared up the symptoms (which it did) then the cat has herpes and needs to take l-lysine every day. It definitely didnt make matters worse so I would recommend these to anyone suffering from symptoms or outbreaks. He seems to be in a phase of much less outbreaks now and still takes the one capsule each day.

I take 1500(3) day before I go to sleep along with other Amino Acids. It’s considered an antiviral.
