> 3 dayA coworker left a note saying he lost his knife (he really wrote “someone stole my knife”). Later he found his knife and left it out for me to see when I came in on my shift. As soon as I clicked out the blade I knew I had to have one of these, I cut some vinyl stickers with this knife to mask the parts off too paint; they cut nicely and this razor didn’t get dull as quickly as the other snap razors I’ve been using. I’m a steelworker and I can say whatever steel Olfa makes their razor blades from is better than the made in China generic razors I get at work for free. This is a quality tool. Worth the price. I use it every day. Posting a picture I took after engraving my name on it (in case it comes up missing at work), I’m trusting in the pocket clip and the front pocket of my workshirt and my engraving to keep it in my possession.

05-06-2025If I were paying full retail price on this product (which, actually, I did unfortunately), I would not give it five stars. Ive written a much more extensive review on the SVR-2, which is very similar, except that it locks which this knife does not. Moderate pressure will send the blade back inside the carrier, making it useful for some tasks... Less so for others. But, for the price this gets offered at, a great knife to keep around. The stainless blades that come with these are alright, the carbon steel blades Olfa sells are much nicer. But still, you cant go wrong at this price unless youre doing a lot of heavy-handed tasks. Brilliantly simple design, very sturdy, very easy to change blades and break off tips. A very smart product. Update: When I wrote this, the price was considerably less than the

> 3 dayMost affordable/high quality snap off knife there is. Buy two. It’s minimal in design and someone (in a bustling art studio) will want to walk off with it. Most don’t know you can safely snap off the blade with the slot at the end of the handle.

> 3 dayIt works, although I have prompted Amazon to change the misleading title, it remains. I need a locking knife, not one that will allow the blade to slip back into the handle with the slightest push. This is not a Slide-Lock. Beyond that obvious problem, the knife will work if all one needs is a downward cut. A very nice stainless channel (better than any others Ive seen) and a stainless blade. Thus, a three star rating...

> 3 dayBeen using Olfa cutters for years and years - needed a new one, bought this SVR-1 since it said they auto-lock - meaning when you extend the blade, then press the tip of the blade into something, it shouldnt retract - these do. The auto-lock should prevent the blade from being pushed back into the handle. These, the SVR-1, slide right back into the handle with little effort. If you need/want the auto-lock, the SVR-2 is the one you need. This is still a great knife, but the info listed for this item is incorrect. AND, if you want a super sharp knife, ditch the silver blades and get the black ones - theyre a lot sharper and last much longer, too.
