The best hobby knife with great blades that stay sharp for a long time

Strong and yet very compact. It is sharper than the average pocket knife, and fits in your pocket like another pen. The snap off blades mean you can get a new edge any time. It also means you cant use it for everything. The blade will snap off if you try to use it for any leverage.

It works, although I have prompted Amazon to change the misleading title, it remains. I need a locking knife, not one that will allow the blade to slip back into the handle with the slightest push. This is not a Slide-Lock. Beyond that obvious problem, the knife will work if all one needs is a downward cut. A very nice stainless channel (better than any others Ive seen) and a stainless blade. Thus, a three star rating...

I just tried this knife out on very dense bookboard. It cut through it in five light pressure passes and I got a clean cut. That would have taken ten passes with my #11 blade craft knife, and the edges would not have been as clean. Moreover, the blade’s sharpness lasted much longer than the #11’s I normally use, so I am thrilled with this purchase.

I bought my first Olfa Silver snap blade razor over 15 years ago. I love it! It has seen me though countless moves and is none the worse for wear. The blades are super sharp and when they finally wear out, just break off another segment. Where else can you find a $10 product that exudes such quality? Hold it in your hand -- it feels solid, as if milled from a solid piece of metal. The fit and finish are first rate. The plastic blade holder clicks with authority. And the name - Olfa Silver - what could be better than that?

Olfa is the best hands down. Never has issues, can be way more accurate for cutting.

Been using Olfa cutters for years and years - needed a new one, bought this SVR-1 since it said they auto-lock - meaning when you extend the blade, then press the tip of the blade into something, it shouldnt retract - these do. The auto-lock should prevent the blade from being pushed back into the handle. These, the SVR-1, slide right back into the handle with little effort. If you need/want the auto-lock, the SVR-2 is the one you need. This is still a great knife, but the info listed for this item is incorrect. AND, if you want a super sharp knife, ditch the silver blades and get the black ones - theyre a lot sharper and last much longer, too.
