Greater than one weekThis is a great projector, especially if you are using it for gaming. I was so impressed with it, I ditched the TV entirely. Its super bright. Great response times. Enough features. I have Fire Stick, Chromecast, PS4, and a direct connect HDMI all connected. But... It has handshake issues. This isnt the end of the world, but it does make it annoying enough that I reached to Optoma customer service to see if they had any resolutions. I ran across mentions of the issue in multiple reviews, including Projector Central. The main issue Im having is with a direct connection to my MacBook, Thunderboldt to HDMI. It basically wont hold the picture, constantly flickering. Ive tried multiple cables and converters, nothing works. Other reviews mention issues with the PS4 (Ive had none) or other devices. Ive had minor issues with the Chromecast, but not as much as the direct connection. I believe this is a firmware issue, not a hardware issue. Customer support basically brushed me off even after I sent them links to all the other references of the handshake issue. They suggested I send it in, since its still under warranty. I havent made up my mind on what Ill do with the unit yet. I dont want to send it back in, since theyll probably send me a refurb. I just wish Optoma would recognize there is an issue and look into it. They say they have no reported handshake issues. Well, Im reporting it. That said, this is a great projector for the money. I looked long and hard before upgrading. I settled on this one mainly because of the brightness and gaming aspects.

> 3 dayWe just replaced an optoma hd29 darbee and to be honest it had a much better picture. When the brightness is turned way down the screen is still really bright meaning the blacks arent black at all, more of a mushy gray, it seems they try to remedy really lousy black levelby upping the lumens, we set it as best we could using a Ps4, using both netflix lost in space, and YouTubes the late show with stephen colbert. So multiple sources X box as well. it just isnt crisp, and i dont mean out of focus at all i mean just kina dim. If you adjust the contrast up at all to try for a brightish picture then it washes out all the detail in the whites, and if you adjust the contrast low enough to keep details in tue whites it becomes an unnaturally dark picture, for instance the late show is filmed in a studio with professional lighting and such, when adjusted to a decent picture its about like they havr the lights dimmed 50%. We also got on YouTube and tried several different videos to set the contrast and brightness correctly and it just looks sad. Its aimed at a very decent screen,134 inches diagonal, made using carls blackout cloth. No matter how much we fiddle and fuss we just cant get it to look decent, id call it barely acceptable. And im by no means any kind of av snob. It just looks sickly. And the bulb seems bright because if we turn the contrast all the way up it gets really bright. This is super disappointing. I think our next one will b a ben q. Its not like i was expecting the world but its definitely lousy. Also optoma makes / has made hundreds of projectors so they dont seem to specialize in any one model, and there is very little support. Youd think it would come withsome sort of website to help dial it in but the website and support materials look like therefrom 1983. I really think this is a company churning out mediocre products and there isno growth or advancement, think a late 1970s Oldsmobile or buick where they didnt make it better they just did the bare minimum to meet the minimum standards. This is a sad offering. These are the best settings we found to at least get a well produced bright tv show to be tolerable. Again this feels like a very subpar product w/ exaggerated specs just to move a few units, it feels like a dying company that does a lot of everything and nothing well. We are so very disappointed. Heres our best guess for the settings Image mode - Cinema HDR - auto Wall color - off Brightness - negative 11 (-11) Contrast 2 Sharpness doesnt have anyeffect at all, seriously sharpness does nothing at all Gamma 1.8 Brilliant color 5 Color temp standard Hopefully this helps someone a little, we knew this was a budget projector but even with low expectations this still manages to disappoint. Just buy something else. This thing is unworkable. Also there was supposed to be a firmware update, to fix some of the handshake issues etc. We are convinced there is no chance of that actually happening, and were stuck with the garbage they produced. Also there isa good bit of rainbow effect,it wasnt nearly asbad withthe hd 29 darbee i had.

> 3 dayDespite the product image showing a 3D sync port, my device does not have one, rendering my 4 pairs of shutter glasses useless. It was the main reason I decided on this projector. However, the projector itself is very nice. The built-in speakers are pretty terrible, but that was to be expected. I bought 2 pairs of DLP Link glasses because I have so many 3D blurays, I didnt want to just not be able to watch them and we were all impressed with the picture of this device. For the price, it feels like a good deal to me. I was really impressed with the image quality watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. There were many things I didnt notice watching on my 4K HDR TV. I dont even know how that is possible, but it is. This is not a 4k projector, but the detail in the image seems better than my 4K TV? Anyway, it is good value. There is a noticeable rainbow effect when moving my head, which was to be expected with a DLP projector. I would give it 4 stars if it came with the 3D Sync port as shown in the product photo. I assume it is something they fazed out in more recent production with 3D becoming less popular, but I was very disappointed: BUT the fam liked it enough as in to make it worth keeping for me.

> 3 dayI had an older model optima projrctor that quit working after a lightning storm. It was HD but not 4K. The picture on the older model blows this one away. I love sports and with the previous model i could easily read jersey names and clearly see the finest details. I cant get this one to perform well enough to do the same. Both models were mounted in the same bracket at the same distance with a diagonal screen size of 110. I would happily take my older one back.
