> 3 dayOnly thing I really dislike is that I’m trying to use my Apple TV to play some video games. And it is very slow may be due to my Wi-Fi not sure I would have to hook it up to a PlayStation or Xbox

> 3 dayThe first time the projector was turned on it produced these vertical lines internally. It could be affected by the housing. I noticed when I was pushing the buttons on the top surface to adjust the screen the lines would start to disappear when pressing a button. Pressing down the top surface made the lines go away, something’s the lines would stay away for an extended period of time. The lines always returned. Additionally the projector lens seemed to slide out of focus, ever so slightly, to where the picture was just out of focus and slightly blurry. I had to adjust focus about three times during the length of the very first movie we tried using it on. I was excited about the product but my nervousness with projectors in general was only validated using such an expensive one and having similar issues to a cheaper one.

> 3 dayThis is a great projector, especially if you are using it for gaming. I was so impressed with it, I ditched the TV entirely. Its super bright. Great response times. Enough features. I have Fire Stick, Chromecast, PS4, and a direct connect HDMI all connected. But... It has handshake issues. This isnt the end of the world, but it does make it annoying enough that I reached to Optoma customer service to see if they had any resolutions. I ran across mentions of the issue in multiple reviews, including Projector Central. The main issue Im having is with a direct connection to my MacBook, Thunderboldt to HDMI. It basically wont hold the picture, constantly flickering. Ive tried multiple cables and converters, nothing works. Other reviews mention issues with the PS4 (Ive had none) or other devices. Ive had minor issues with the Chromecast, but not as much as the direct connection. I believe this is a firmware issue, not a hardware issue. Customer support basically brushed me off even after I sent them links to all the other references of the handshake issue. They suggested I send it in, since its still under warranty. I havent made up my mind on what Ill do with the unit yet. I dont want to send it back in, since theyll probably send me a refurb. I just wish Optoma would recognize there is an issue and look into it. They say they have no reported handshake issues. Well, Im reporting it. That said, this is a great projector for the money. I looked long and hard before upgrading. I settled on this one mainly because of the brightness and gaming aspects.

> 3 dayVery easy to hook up. I have not played with settings. Took it out of box and used IPad and external speaker for setup. I would suggest if you are going to to use your iPhone or iPad, purchase a HDMI to lightening cable.

Greater than one weekIt’s a nice and bright projection, and it’s quiet. I found it easier to set up then older models had been in the past. With the no interest Amazon Payments, it’s well worth the purchase.

> 3 dayAlthough I loved the quality, I couldnt take the rainbow effect, it was making me nauseous. Great and very quiet projector for those who dont have the DLP issue. Excellent for daytime viewing. You might need a soundbar.

> 3 dayWeve used this for a month in a home theater setup with Mac Mini (for internet) and a DVD player. It projects on a large classroom-size screen in our living room. Audio is sent directly out of the Mac Mini to a state of the art sound system. The whole thing is rather impressive. But I digress. Optoma HD39HDR has nice, clear images and it never goes out of focus. The only thing Ive found to be a problem is that when you are projecting in 4/3 aspect ratio for DVD and then go back to the 16/9 for internet, the color is all messed up, being to red and too rich. People all look like theyve spent the night in a toaster oven. The remedy--just turn the projector off and after 10 seconds turn on again and it will go back to normal. I love the rather economical bulb which is supposed to last years. In the econ mode, which preserves bulb life, the brightness is just fine for our living room. Our previous Otoma projector lasted 10 years with c. 4-5 hours operation per day every day. I hope this one will be as good.
