> 3 dayIm a seasoned Pokemon player, having played every game from Yellow up to Black 2 and White 2. After a few years away from the Pokemon community, I was excited to hear that Nintendo was re-making Ruby and Sapphire, easily my favorite generation of Pokemon games. Having missed playing Pokemon X and Y, Alpha Sapphire was my introduction to the stunning new 3D battle and world graphics akin to the old Stadium games. I had a fantastic time playing through the main storyline and the additional Delta Mission. At the moment, Ive made it my goal to go back through the game and complete all of the side quests. Definitely a must-have for beginners and old-timers!

> 3 dayPokemon Sapphire was my first Pokemon game all the way back in 2003. 11 years later in 2014, I bought a 3DS XL SPECIFICALLY to play this game. (And Pokemon Y) I was not disappointed. Despite having essentially played this story probably 100 times over the years, it was still an amazing experience thanks to new graphics and game play improvements. The post game was also amazing with the Delta Episode, and this was one of the longer Pokemon games for me, taking over 45 hours to beat the game, post game, and capture all the legendaries. A must buy for Pokemon fans old and new.

> 3 dayIm a longtime Pokemon fan. I still own my original GBA copies of Ruby and Emerald. The reason I bought Alpha Sapphire is because I originally played Ruby and wanted to try something different this time. Its great seeing Hoenn remastered in 3D. For anyone whos played pokemon, the concept is still the same. Start off in your hometown, get your 1st pokemon from a pokemon professor, start your journey to become pokemon league champion, get a rival, beat some gyms, couple sidequests along the way, beat the elite four, become champion, and enjoy post-game (or start over). Yet for some reason, I cant help myself but to buy into it year after year. Ill make this review short by outlining some key things to consider before buying this game. - No battle frontier - No character customization like in X/Y - Lots of legendary pokemon to catch post-game - Nostalgia for days - lots of throwbacks and references to the original RSE - Upgraded flying system. You now have the option to fly to specific routes/places on top of cities. (i.e. route 121, Safari Zone, etc.) - More mega evolutions if thats your thing. Also primal evolutions - Same shiny rate as X/Y - Wally. That is all. - The pokemon league aethestics were amazingly well done by gamefreak. Shout out to them on that. - Mirage spots replacing original Mirage Island from RSE - PSS is back along with O-Powers wonder trade and all that good stuff - New dexnav feature apart of the pokenav which has that pokeradar feel to it. Its nice that gamefreak added something like this considering there was no item like this in the original RSE. Pokeradar wasnt until Gen IV. - Streetpass integrated into buzznav (another pokenav feature which has a love/hate relationship with most pokemon players currently; not all players have great streetpass reception) - Delta Episode (post-game story) is amazing - Learn little more about pokemon game universe (how some games might be connected to ea other i.e ORAS and X/Y) I dont want to say much more about this without spoiling so Ill leave it at that. - Apparently too much water Point is, if youre a pokemon fan, you should definitely buy one of these games. Even though this is the Alpha Sapphire page, I recommend buying whichever one you feel suits you best. There are guides that will explain to you the differences between omega ruby and alpha sapphire.

> 3 dayGreat game, but Im sort of bummed that they did away with a lot of the qualities that made X/Y such a strong and revolutionary generation for Pokemon. I havent found myself nearly as sucked into the story in this one as I expected that I would be, which is weird because Emerald was my favorite Pokemon game prior to this. Anyway. Still a good game. Kinda wish I wouldve gone with Omega Ruby now that Im sufficiently sick of Archies face, but thats not really a complaint.

> 3 dayI played the original sapphire and the story on this one is pretty much the same just in 3d, and the inclusion of mere evolutions. Still holds up today

> 3 dayI loved the first version of this game. The new pokedex features were awesome. One thing I disliked was how easy they made catching legendary pokemon. Another thing I disliked was the incessant rambling and cut-scenes. I also hated running back and forth for the last challenge after the Pokemon league. Again, the cut-scenes made it almost unbearable and almost ruined the game for me. In the originals, I loved the way the character walked. I thought it was adorable. Also, you cant act like youre sleeping in your bed at home, or relaxing in the mud at Lavaridge town like you could before. I loved those little details and was very disappointed to see them go. -PokeFangirl

Greater than one weekIn the aftermath of X and Y, which were staggeringly wonderful, with a dynamic PokeDex, dynamic new animation, the gloriously empowered Exp. Share and dozens of other impressive features, AS and OR were somewhat of a letdown. The game itself is a little different than it was back in Generation III, but only in ways that were redundant with X and Y. The new Mega Evolutions were wonderful, but are not available until much later in the game than in X and Y. With the Exp. Share upgraded, a game where you previously had to struggle to get a full party above level 45 you can now end up with six Pokemon in their 80s. Unfortunately, the levels of the opponents Pokemon remained the same, turning a game that was an enjoyable challenge into an unfortunate breeze. With the Battle Maison returning from X and Y, we lose the one thing that made Third Gen (or Emerald Version, at least) so enjoyable, namely an immensely diverse and challenging Battle Frontier. There are some awesome new features like the ability to find rare Pokemon and keep track of what youve caught off of each route using the Trainers Eye, but more or less, this game was a disappointment. If given a choice between playing this again or playing Emerald, Id pick Emerald again in a heartbeat. And that says nothing in comparison to X and Y.

Greater than one weekAs always, Pokemon continues to deliver. It doesnt simply take the original Sapphire and revamp the graphics; it adds new game mechanics, plotline, and characters. However, they really dropped the ball with the berries. In the original, all the different types of berry trees had unique sprites; in Alpha Sapphire, all the berry trees look the same. As someone who loved doing berry routes in the original game, this was a huge disappointment. In general, nostalgia made the game less enjoyable, as I was constantly comparing it to the original. Other than that, the game was great and I would definitely recommend it.

> 3 dayI never played the original Alpha Sapphire game on GBA, but this remake on 3DS is great. The adventure is your standard Pokemon adventure where you get a starter Pokemon that you battle with to catch more and more Pokemon. There are a total of 8 gyms, which come with a few easy puzzles to solve, pretty standard stuff. Ive played at least 10 different Pokemon games all the way through from the original Blue Version, Yellow Version, Gold, Silver, and Crystal versions. I also played Diamond, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver, and Pokemon X. If youre looking for an adventure that will be fun and give you a dose of good old Pokemon adventure time this is a great title. It took me 18.5 hours to finish the game all the way through, so there is a great amount of value to be had here. I bought this game for $30 so that is $1.62 per hour of entertainment.
