I purchased this game for my five year old, new to handheld gaming. A month later, its all he ever talks about. It is by far his favorite DS game. He has the New 3ds XL, and the graphics on the game are fantastic. I havent seen a Pokémon game in action since Gameboy Color days and, well, this is totally new-gen. The storyline is immersing and he is able to follow it mostly without help. The game play is fluid and easy to follow, and the graphics! Once he finishes this one Im going to buy him the Omega Ruby to play through, too.

it arrived a little early and in perfect condition. My son says its a little harder to get started w the game, but hes a newer gamer and young. So take that w a grain of salt. He also got a new playing system (the 3ds vs the 2ds) at the same time.

I love this remake of the epic game that was the highlight of my childhood. It has tons of extra content in it that changes it from the original. Unlike the Heartgold and Soulsilver remake, it wont give you a week of extra content, rather maybe 2 days worth. If you would want to kill some time, flip that 3ds and play this game. At best, I bet you could play this for 2-3 weeks if you are new to the Pokemon franchise, 1 week if you are familar with the franchise, and 21-3 days if you are hardcore and willing to speed run this. Just like every other Pokemon game, you may gret bored of this after completing the game.

Respectable game, but not as good as the original R/S/E.

There was a difference in opinion here on whether this game actually worked in a 2DS console. Of course 3DS games in general can play in 2 dimensional format in a 2DS console, however that was theoretical information. I needed someone who had *actually* played the game in a real 2DS console. Also the outside of the package says Playable in 2D, however that is not the same as saying this actually works in a 2DS console. It simply means that you can play the game in 3 dimensions or move the slide to make it play in only 2 dimensions. Finally, you now have real confirmation. We bought this as a Christmas gift and on Christmas day it was inserted into an actual 2DS player console and it works and plays fine! No more guessing or suppositions.

I hadnt played Pokemon since 2000, and even then, it was the original Pokemon Red. I cant speak on how this compares to other editions, with the exception of Pokemon X, which I also have as of recently. Whereas Pokemon X feels sluggish, this edition feels and plays very smoothly. I notice a good bit more optimization in the engine. Because so, I find it very hard to go back and continue playing X. It feels like a first-generation 3D game did in the Playstation/N64 era. The controls, as well, are a major improvement over X. But specifically about Alpha Sapphire. I havent even scratched the surface on the games content, but I am glad. Even from the beginning, it feels like there is a lot of life left in the game. It is of course going to end up being more of the same, but that is sort of the charm with Pokemon, really. I ran back and forth in one area of a tunnel just so I could encounter an elusive Pokemon again... and Im in my thirties. This game makes me feel like that kid again, while I never want to relive being a kid, it is a nice escape to be back in that mindset if only for a little bit.

I bought this for my now 8 year old cousin for his birthday, its the main thing he asked for. When he got it he was so happy, he played all the time. Now I dont see him playing much(after a month) I think its getting too hard perhaps, or maybe he just doesnt like reading the words on the game haha. If he was a little bit older I think he would appreciate it more.
