As a child, I always dreamed of the day Id be able to play Pokemon in a 3D environment like my N64 games. Gold, Yellow, and Heartgold are the only main pokemon games I have played and completed and have been replaying them waiting for a real game-changer. Every time I tried to delve into Sapphire, Diamond, or other generations, I could never stay committed and always reverted back to the more familiar games without the added frills. I can say my childhood dreams have finally come true. This game is beautiful and has a lot of interesting side elements and improvements. So many of the functional aspects of the game that used to be annoying (HM-moves, PC boxes, running back to Pokemon Centers constantly) have been fixed. If you have been out of the series for a while, this is the game to come back in on. Only downside is there are times when framerates drop during certain battle sequences and it can really take the enjoyment out of a scene. It seems silly that Nintendo would ever release games that dont run smoothly at all times since the player cant just buy a more powerful DS. Even the new 3DS XLs have issues with this game.

This is a must buy game if you have the 3DS, and possibly even a system seller. As a pokemon game compared to the other entries in the series its great! This game improves on many of the features that needed tweeting from x and y, such as a better battle interface, a more interesting narrative (well by pokemon standards), and way better 3D models and textures. All these improvements make this one of my favorite pokemon games to date, and thats coming from someone who has been playing these games for almost their whole life. My only gripe is that during double battles the game does lag if you are using an older 3DS model, and the game does seem to be pushing the technical power of the 3DS. Other than that though I truly think that this is a great game and for nintendo fans it should hold them off till the release of their new console.

Ive been playing Pokémon since Pokémon Blue and this is definitely the most fully realized Pokémon world. The cities are larger than ever were towering buildings and some breathtaking interiors. You start on Alola island which is clearly meant to represent one of the Hawaiian islands. I love the usage of the Hawaiian theme in the game. This is the first time I can remember a Pokémon game having such a distinct theme. There is a hula dancing bird and one that looks like a Lei. Im a big fan of Toucannon which has the look that Id wished Archen would have had. Even some of the existing Pokémon like Mirowak have been given a Hawaiian feel, If I have one issue with the graphics its that the camera is fixed which seems a bit archaic. For the longest time I was trying and trying to swing the camera around but tis not meant to be. Long gone are the squatty little game characters replaced by characters that look closer and closer to something youd see in the cartoon. The basic game mechanics remain the same but there are a lot of adjustments and a bit more hand holding. Once you fight a Pokemon creature, from then on the game will let you know whether an attack on the creature will be effective, very effective or ineffective. You no longer have to try and memorize the attack matrix in your head and remember whether a bug attractive is effective against ghost and all the other attack permutations. The game will even let you know how well a Pokémon matches up prior to swapping it in. Kids these days have it so easy. There are a lot of improved features in the game that make life easier. Ive still only scratched the surface of the game at this point being about 15 hours in but so far Im loving it. I cant yet see when any fans of the series would be disappointed in the newest iteration of the game.

Pros. Graphics and sound have been greatly improved ! But if you are using an older model of the 3ds then the frame rate drops a little during battles . On the other hand the *new* 3DS handles things pretty well, you wont notice the frame drop as much. HMs are a thing of the past! No longer will we required to have HM slaves on adventure team! We can now page Ride Pokemon ! Need a bolder smashed out of the way? Summon Touros! Need to go for a swim? Summon Lapras or Sharpedo ! Need to fly? Summon Charizard! The only downside is that these are rental pokemon . You cant use your own . They also seem to be shiny locked as well. Kurts Apricorn Pokeballs have returned ! For the trainers out there who have dreamed of having 5th, 6th and now 7th gen pokemon in this special balls REJOYCE ! Love Ball Sylveon is a thing now! Moon Ball Rockruff is a thing! Keep in mind that Apricorn trees are not in game but you can find these special balls through out the game. Trainer Customization is back and better then ever ! First off! After 20 years we can finally take the damn hat off! YES ! There are more hairstyles for both boys and girls ! Girl trainers get to wear make up. White colored clothes can be dyed whatever color you want! Breeding mechanics have gotten an upgrade ! Male and Genderless Pokemon can now pass down their pokeballs if they are bred with Ditto ! Before it was females only ! The Day Care was replaced by the The Nursery . Pokemon will not level up and auto forget moves that you are trying to breed down . Because they dont level up in the Nursery its hella cheaper to boot! These games are more story driven then any other pokemon game! There a few flaws I do NOT like but Ill just have to deal with. GTS . Game Freak still has NOT figured out how to block people from asking for unreasonable trades. Like Caterpie for Arceus , for example . Not much backwards compatibility with 6th gen games . Theres NO way to trade directly between 6th and 7th gen games without Pokémon Bank . I myself and many others have tested this. Theres NO way to battle players who have 6th gen games either . But in the end , despite the flaws I still think these are solid games .

If your just an average customer purchasing a 3DS game to open immediately and play, A-A Sales is a 5 star seller. If your a collector like myself and have purchased from this seller for the original US region games that they advertised in the pictures, you’ll be disappointed. They sent me two 3DS games that are what many people refer to as the “world versions”. They are technically US versions, just with additional languages installed, but still it’s not what they advertised. The original copies of the game have more of a collectible price, these are not quite as collectible. Also one of the games had a huge sticker from a retail store on the plastic wrap seal which will be difficult to remove without damaging the seal. I will say the games physically are in great condition. Again not a bad product, just advertised incorrectly.

Let me just say that I adore Pokemon. Ive been watching the show since it first aired in the US, Ive played every main series game since Silver, as well as a few of the offshoot games, Ive collected cards and more-so naturally when I heard an all new region would be released for the 3ds I was very excited, and the hype around the games grew until I could barely wait for the next news. And when it came... Well, at first, I wasnt as impressed as I thought I would be. Mostly because I was super excited to play and the intro scene takes FOREVER. Seriously, I know its necessary for the story but the whole beginning is so slowww. Its kind of like the start to Pokemon Black and White but longer. I actually thought I wouldnt like the game much at all as I started playing. And then the story took off...and I was BLOWN AWAY. This game is beautiful! I love the scenery, the look of the models, the new pokemon...(well most of them, anyway...) and I would definitely recommend it. But the best thing about this game, is the story. This story was so much fun to follow, even if it was a bit obvious at times. I found myself loving Lillie and Kukuis characters, feeling meh about Haus (hes actually around less than you would expect), curious about Gladion and wanting Guzma to be...I dont know, more, prevalent I guess. But the fact the game made me actually want me to see these characters grow and better themselves-thats impressive. Ive gone on a bit too much by now so Ill end this here. I suggest if you like Pokemon, or RPGs, give this at least one try. Also, for the record, UB Gluttony or whatever looks like a heartless boss jumped out of Kingdom Hearts and invaded Pokemon. Its weird and Im not sure how to feel about it.

What can I say? Great new addition to the Pokemon line. Ive been playing these games since Red/Blue first arrived and I had started to get a little weary of the same formula. Now, Im not one to suggest that GameFreak/Nintendo changed it up greatly, but it was a very pleasant discovery to learn that this game had changed the rather predictable pattern of the past games. The new features are pretty awesome and as a pokemon fan, it was a lot of fun. If youve never played a pokemon game and want to, either this or Moon would be a great starting point. Hours of fun. If youre like me and have played all the previous pokemon games, you can look forward to some well-thought and cleverly designed features that really are enchanting and add new play-ability to the franchise.

Ive been shamelessly playing pokemon since the release of Gold and Silver when I was finally able to get my hands on a gameboy color. I think this game is great. I love how it is different in that there are trials instead of battling gym after gym. More character customization options. Gets rid of HMs and replaces it with a really cool alternative that doesnt require you to alter you teams move sets. The dialogue is downright stupid/awkward most of the time and team skull, in my opinion, has to be the dumbest group of villains weve yet to encounter in the pokemon franchise. Though on the other hand, sometimes its so stupid that I find myself laughing out loud, I find entertainment in the stupidity. But kids would like it Im sure. Anyways, this game is highly enjoyable for the veteran players as well as first time players.

Have to say for this to be such a special year for Pokemon, I am rather disappointed in Sun and Moon. For me the best game for Pokemon was ORAS. So much more you could do in that game. I dont care for the Poke Finder and miss the DevNax in locating pokemon. I miss the ability to go to a route or area and seeing what I might still need to get with regards to pokemon. I dont care for the limitations in fishing and even surfing. The biggest disappointment so far from what Ive seen is the inability to re-fight trainers to level up and gain more $$. I liked that in ORAS because I enjoyed working more than one team which is more time consuming with Sun and Moon because it lacks the ability to re-fight. ORAS had a lot to keep one busy until the next new Pokemon game release. I dont see this as being the case with Sun and Moon. And the ability to catch shiny pokemon is for me more frustrating. The new method of chaining is a pain. One other major thing I dont like about this new generation game...........we cant transfer between ORAS and Sun/Moon except through the Poke Bank which isnt even available until sometime in January. The one plus I do find with Sun and Moon is the way the HMs were handled. Now that was a cool change.

Pokemon Moon is, in my experience, a surprisingly disappointing game. From the beginning island with the first trial I was shocked, repeatedly, at how easy they decided to make this game. Dont be mistaken: I am fully aware that Pokemon games have never been difficult, but this one takes it to a new level altogether. Cons: *Too many freebies early on and continuing throughout *Processes slowly in some parts due to console limitations *Limited fishing areas *No challenge whatsoever *No horde battles (Honey is essentially useless) *Has a marker that shows you where to go *Too many scenes *A legendary battle right after the last Pokemon League battle and quite a bit of scenes *Easily the most idiotic Team in any game. *The story was slightly lacking *S.O.S. can get annoying early on *Horrible designs for some Pokemon *New addition to battles sometimes shows effectiveness of each attack before you make it *The Pokedex nonsense after catching new Pokemon gets time consuming. *Move reminder teaches all moves a Pokemon can learn by leveling, above and below current level When I say, too many freebies, I mean it. You start off with more than 10 times the amount of money in past games, plus Pokeballs and Potions. Then you get Great Balls, Ultra Balls, Revives, and the EXP Share, all before the first trial. Not to mention more money (over 10,000) for catching a few Pokemon. And then there are the extra areas for racking up more easy items and cash that require little to no actual work: interacting with 6 easily found Pokemon on a beach (20,000 daily for 30 seconds of work), buildings that give daily free items, which include Master Balls and Big Nuggets, and a variety of possible items if you develop a specific island in Poké Pelago. I learned, after the fact, that you can repeat the battle with the legendary that comes after the Pokemon League, assuming you didnt catch it. If you care about the nature and IVs, and havent gone online to find out that fact, youre faced with quite the dilemma, so I count it as a con. I add the move reminder in there because it just makes things too easy. Takes away some of the challenge of breeding if you can get egg moves so simply. Pros: *Riding Pokemon is an interesting concept *Festival Plaza makes for a decent change of pace *A few new Pokemon designs are cool *Being able to get both major legends without another player losing giving up theirs *Hyper Training allows max IV stats without the breeding headache *Being able to see a Pokemons nature right after catching it Hyper training is arguably the best thing for competitive players that this update has. The training doesnt change the Pokemon in a sense that can be bred to future Pokemon, but the IV boost works for battling. Meaning you can essentially cut IV breeding from your agenda so long as youve got a Bottle Cap or two.
