First impressions out of the box were great. Keyboard is nice and heavy, keys have a wonderful sound with the brown switches. Only issue I have is the lack of a manual for all the shortcuts and the key combinations. Its taken me way too much time searching to find out how this keyboard functions. Asides from that the keyboard is great because it works both corded and blue tooth and via USB dongle. Its a perfect size and the weight is substantial to most generic plastic keyboards. I would recommend for an entry level user and someone looking to learn about pulling keyboards apart and upgrading. I use it generally for gaming and chatting and it has been a good experience. Some might miss the extra keys but make sure you read which keys are not included for your gaming puposes.

Really loved this product until some of the keys stopped working. Very disappointed that this keyboard stopped working so soon after buying…bummed. Edit: this company reached out and helped me resolve my issue. The keyboard works great and I feel it was an operator error on my part that made the keyboard not work correctly. Very happy, will buy from this company agai in the future.

To conclude, the Royal Kludge RK61, in my opinion, is one of the best budget alternatives to the popular Anne Pro 2 when it comes to 60% compact keyboards. The layer implementation on this keyboard is very well thought off with a combination of both activating each layer and toggling it using the FN key which makes transitioning to this compact form factor much easier for beginners. The typing experience, for the most part, is very good with the RK red switch having a smooth up and down travel, my only issue is with the quite rattly spacebar. Gaming performance is also pretty decent in both wired and wireless mode since NKRO works properly on both. Although I had some issues with Bluetooth connectivity on one of my 2 RK61, the one that I’ve been using for months now as a backup keyboard works flawlessly without any perceivable latency which is very vital. The battery endurance is also quite substantial with power-saving mode. Overall, there’s not much to complain about this keyboard and for its price, I don’t think there’s any reason not to get it if you’re looking for the best budget 60% compact keyboard.

Love this keyboard with the brown switch!!! It is very professional performance, compact and yet same key size and spacing, solid build, handle multiple operating systems at same time, and looks great. At first, got this keyboard because I wanted a mechanical keyboard to handle my Jetson Nano (Linux OS like Raspberry Pi) and keep around on desk with my Windows machine Logitech mechanical gaming keyboard (Logitech G810). I type a lot with the Windows machine for work and the software development job I do so I need a keyboard that is fast, feels good for typing, and fingers can easily maneuver with it from the first minute to the 12th hour or continuous use. I got this keyboard because it was small and had to be on my desk at the same time that I had my main use Logitech keyboard. After using this new keyboard I changed my mind about keeping two keyboards on my desk at the same time. This keyboard will be the only keyboard on my desk. This keyboard is much better in most features I described above and more than the Logitech mechanical keyboard; makes me sad because I really like the Logitech keyboard. The Logitech does have the up/down/left/right arrows separated and a very important feature you might think twice about before getting this keyboard. The manufacturer totally missed out on the keyboard increase and decrease volume. This could be a deciding point for many people because you dont want to hunt around for volume if you are doing something fast and continuous; I almost did not get this keyboard because of that and this manufacturer is probably missing a lot of more detailed experienced customers on this issue; THERE IS A FIX - read easy fix in following paragraph below. This keyboard switches between Windows and Linux (between computers) with ease where the Logitech and others have difficulty because of software they download and place in Windows with no other support. For this keyboard I did not download any software and it maintains all the color settings; function key settings are done from the operating systems so that does not matter for me. The colors chosen and area of display is also much better and a professional feel than the Logitech and the color pallet and lighting balance make me feel good; I used to do a little of lighting design and this feels more professional than some cheap lit keyboard that feels like it was won at some kids arcade. Programming the function keys on Linux is easy. On Windows you can download AutoHotKey and create a very short three line script for volume up down and mute; plenty of examples you could copy/paste and modify. Remember to place finished script in startUp directory to work with computer restart. The free non-commercial app (have not noticed any spy or adware software with it) will also allow any other modification of key press with mouse interaction; for example open some app on key-press or hold windows key with mouse buttons to control volume... or anything you probably any functionality running through your mind. I am very picky about keyboards, I dont like a car with just an OK suspension that fails in bad weather or keeps you from driving fast and easy. I like a more accurate, precise, and fast acting suspension on a car that makes driving fast like driving half the speed with out getting stressed out for a very long distance. This keyboard is that.

The keyboard is very nice and Ive had it for about 2-3 months now. Ive been able to switch between my laptop and my ipad when Im typing notes for class easily and it doesnt take a lot of desk space as I currently have a small desk so that was a big plus. However, when I play video games with my friends, Ive noticed the keys occasionally get stuck. For example, when I go on minecraft, I will press on the A key to go to the left and then i remove my finger but Im still moving to the left. It will only stop, once I press on the key again. I also have tried to download the software for this keyboard to see if there was a way to fix things through it and upon opening the program, I am given a screen that says no gaming device found and then the program closes. I try again assuming I downloaded the wrong one, but to no avail, it still will not work. I do recall reading reviews warning me that the keyboard isnt great or some other con and that I shouldnt buy it, but I ignored them and now here I am writing my review. If anything, this keyboard is great for typing up notes, but when it comes to gaming, I dont recommend too much unless you dont have the keys getting stuck problem, but even then, it might be a risk if you buy it and end up getting that problem later. Im now looking into other keyboards and will probably just sell this keyboard to a college student in my city who may be more interested in using it only for typing and not gaming as well.

Need to learn a lot of macros to compensate for less keys but works as intended

This is not like any other keyboard, READ THE MANUAL! If the manual is not followed, it will cause an issue, so I highly recommend following the instructions. Once the keyboard is setup, then make changes that will suite your needs.

Great little budget board for the money, if you go into this expecting support from RK you’ll have a bad time. If you get the wrong product instead of a 1 star review you should return to Amazon and get the right thing.. pretty simple stuff. Plenty of available information in the booklet it comes with and lots of YouTube videos to help with connection/feature use. The keyboard unchanged is fine, change the switches, caps, and add a little foam to the case and it’s pretty great. You can customize one of these and their better than a box store razer/Corsair at the same price point or less. If you have no plans to do that then you’ll be fine for $50 give or take. Amazon always has deals on these things. Have 2 of them, they work.

So I have used this daily since I bought it about a month ago. The build quality is good but not great. I have seen better and I have also seen much much worse at this price. I got the blue switches and they are really really nice for the money. Just not for an office environment. The wireless works pretty good when gaming only really had a few hiccups playing some fast paced fps games. The wired connection I havent tried yet. The bluetooth works well most of the time. I bought this keyboard for the sole purpose to use with Samsung dex. When you start dex it works great. If you have to do a lot of text editing or writing more than a few lines in a document. It falls apart pretty quickly. When typing after a while it will fail to show up correctly on screen with characters being out of place or the first letter being at the end of the word. Not a deal breaker for me though. The price and the ability to travel with it very well makes up for that. Overall I would say that it is definitely worth the money for the switches alone. As long as you keep your expectations in line with the price it is a great keyboard.

Ill just do an initial impressions/opinions first then the pros and cons list after. Ive gone through the flagship keyboards of nearly every major brand you can think of: Razer, Logitech, Cherry, Corsair, Roccat, and others. But only a couple of them (IMHO of course) have been better than this keyboard and not overall, just in certain ways. Ill explain: Razer usually blows the budget on lighting. I think we all know thats their main draw. But their keys are AT BEST comparable to these. Logitech always has all the bells and whistles, but again, key switches are comparable at best. Corsair probably has marginally better keys (in that they are usually not dry but, rather, dry lubed and not very clacky which, for some, is great and others, not so great). But the feel of these brown key switches? Oh lord... Its like typing on the smoothest and yet... I cant really describe what I think when I type on it. It just feels right. Pros: Key switches, while proprietary, are outstanding: not obnoxiously clicky and loud, but feel nice to press RGB Colors are very vivid Key travel distance is rather short which I see as a pro; YMMV Very sturdy construction Cons: RGB lighting is not as bright as other main stream brands Brown switches are not for everyone, they take stronger fingers to use effectively (only my opinion) Its a 60% keyboard, you know what youre getting into with secondary key functions; however, once you learn where they are, its not that bad Lack of adjustable feet/legs; not a huge deal as the design almost negates the need for them, its still just a bit low for my liking These of course are only my opinions and only reflect as much. I purchased this keyboard for 10% off, but that was an Amazon deal and I was not compensated in any way for this review.
