Everything Ive read suggests this is a great NVME but see pictures. Amazon needs to do a better job checking items before they ship as I recieved an open box with my item missing.

I purchased this 970 EVO Plus 500GB SSD to upgrade from my current 970 EVO 256 SSD, and it was a hassle-free job. All I did was clone the 256GB to the 500GB, removed the 256GB SSD from its NVMe slot on my motherboard, installed the new 500GB SSD, and when I restarted my computer everything was as it was - except I had double the SSD space now. I did some SSD read/write testing and the results were faster across the board when compared to my older, non Plus SSD, and way faster than other branded SSDs I had installed in other machines in my household (for reference, the 970 EVO Plus testing was done on a dual-boot Hackintosh build with MacOS Monterey and Windows 11 on the same drive). Samsung SSDs are very good, and they have enough choices for everyones needs, from reasonably priced to high-end.

Ultra fast and reliable SSD NVMe M.2

It turned out my HP 15 series laptop already had an empty M.2 NVMe SSD slot, complete with silicone heat tape above the bay. So I installed this plus another 8 gig memory stick in the extra empty memory slot, and now this laptop rocks. Im amazed at the speed vs. the Toshiba 1TB HDD drive, which I kept as a secondary data drive. Dont know why others have had problems with temp, this SSD runs between 34 C and 54 C (under stress), which is well within Samsungs operating temps. I initially tried to clone with Samsungs data migration app, but that failed, so I used a Windows Recovery USB created from my other Windows 10 pro machine to do a fresh install on the new Samsung SSD, and that did the trick. Im extremely happy with this purchase, and Amazon (and Samsung) delivered, as always.

The second fastest m.2 NVME you can buy the fastest is the pro version. If you really truly want a fast computer this is one the most important components to get.
