I recently left a review for another nvme drive, the sk hynix p41. I said in it that that drive drained my battery in my new laptop alittle too fast for my liking. I took that drive out and switched it to this samsung 980 pro. I had mentioned in the p41 review that i thought the p41 was faster than this one. When i tranaferred a 16 gb file when i hooked this one up it transferred it at about 1.5 gb/s while the p41 did it at 2.0 gb/s. Thats nothing to shake a finger at, for either drive especially since both are faster than the 900mb/s my original wd drive moved at. That being said a recent firmware seemed to help this samsung drive because after it i transferred the same file and found it moving at about 1.9gb/s so now this one is almost there although it did seem alittle less stable moving up and down between 2.0 and 1.6 a few times before settling at about 1.9 while the p41 went at 2.0 and didnt look back. That being said, this deive moves that fast, whether its 1.9gb/s or 1.5 gb/s, and still sips slowly from the battery. While the p41 gave me 4 hrs at idle(2 hours less than the stock drive), this one got me up to about 6.5 to 7 hrs at idle and about 4 hours of use time. Believe me i know the battery life is still terrible so id rather not burn through it any faster than i already do. On top of that this drive also stays cooler than the p41. While the p41 sat at 41 to 46 degrees c at idle, this one sits at 31 to 35 degrees c.

As I have stated in another review, there are some really good drives out there for a decent price, and anyone of them you cant go wrong in buying them. In this case, Samsungs reliability of the product itself is why I bought this drive, actually two of them. These are for computer systems. Both systems have 16GB of memory, an Intel I5 at 3.9GB on a Socket 1200, 11th gen processor. Ok, so heres the but. Running a portable version of Crystal Disk Mark 8 V4, I consistently got roughly these figures. I measured the figures on both drives. So that means at least they both were consistent. I only looked at two figures, the Read/Write and the continuous Write. I ran Disk Mark about four or 5 times. So the figures are roughly what I saw.

This is now my fourth M.2 Samsung SSD in 970 EVO and 980 Pro models, all 2 TB, 2 in a laptop and 2 in a gaming tower. Love them. They read and write fast, dont seem to overheat or cause my case temps to raise more than usual, and Ive never had a failure of any kind.

FYI if Running Intel 10th Gen Processors this will not run at its full speed potential. You need an 11th gen Intel chip or newer to take full advantage of PCI-4.0 NvME slot (which this chip is really designed for) Also recommend downloading the Samsung Magician app to install and optimize this drive.

I love this SSD! It works so well for my PS5. It has noticably increased my systems performance in all areas. I used to see minor pauses with some games but thats no longer an issue since Ive installed the SSD. When playing games it feels so much more fluent and 100% more stable in every aspect. This is the only product Ive ever written a review for and thats because this SSD is so great. I have no issues once so ever. It shipped and arrived overnight. Upon opening the package I was impressed by the amount of detail put into the SSD. It looks sleek and very attractive. Knowing that it would go inside my PS5 didnt bother me because I knew it would perform better than it looked and that it does. It has a amazing 2 TB of storage so theres no need to worry about space. At least for me. Highly recommend it for high end consoles and PC. This product scores a well deserved 5 stars.

I purchased this to use in an external storage case and it works great. The data transfers are fast and storage is plenty.

The title says it all! It is a legit SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB card. My PC finally has amazing storage and space, as well how fast it writes and downloads my games completely fast.

Worked no problem. Some people say to flash the firmware on PC before installing it in a PS5, but I did not.. Fingers crossed!

Unfortunately did not fit my nephews laptop but I wouldve loved to have something like this for myself. We ultimately ordered the one without a heatsink. Windows made it very difficult to install this due to Bitlocker and other just pathetic, inconvenient standards. Absolutely nothing worked, not the keys, not the restores, not the backups, not the alternative boots. EVEN AFTER WIPING THE HARD DRIVE and putting a fresh OS on it, it refused to boot from anything other than the original hard drive. Eventually I found some work-arounds after an exhausting couple of days attempting absolutely everything I learned during my A+ certification... Works like a charm.
