> 3 dayIts a great size for my laptop and I was able to move all my games and apps from the HDD to my C: drive after replacing the little 256gb the laptop came with. Its been fast and reliable so far.

> 3 dayBeen using it for a few hours, great performance and fast data transfer. It doesnt include the screw for securing it to the MoBo so thats something to consider. I am happy with the purchase, and will probably buy another one unless some issue comes up these first days.

> 3 dayI went from running out of memory and having to load some of my games off of a hard disk drive to having plenty of memory and being able to load all of my games off of an SSD; leading to vastly improved load times that are usually incredibly quick. I never see textures still loading in after getting into a game anymore. In other words I got exactly what I wanted.

> 3 dayThere is a bad firmware issue right now with those drive, so if youre rocking a Samsung 980 Pro in your gaming PC, its time to update or it might die in front of your eyes. Even worse, if thats your Windows boot drive, your entire system may just one day soon refuse to start.

> 3 dayJust installing it in a new Win 10 Dell Optiplex 3070 SFF tonight, so will revisit as I get time on the drive. BUT, this SSD needs a M.2 Standoff and Screw to install in my machine. I dont know if that is universal but I expect so because otherwise the SSD sits right on top of the motherboard on the screw side (on an angle). There was a screw in my MB but it wasnt obvious until I went to install it that it has to have a standoff and associated screw. I dont mind that it needs the standoff but, geez, at least include one or call it out in the specs. Im lucky enough to have a lifetime of hardware bits so could cobble one up. If youre ordering this drive, search for M.2 Standoff and Screw and get a kit of them for $5-6.

08-06-2025Ive always had good results with Samsung SSDs, so when it came time to build a new AM5 system, they were the obvious choice. I did my homework first though. My system is fairly high end with a 7900X processor, a ROG Crosshair Hero motherboard, 64GB of G.Skill ram. Wanted to go with the 990 Pro series NVMe, but building a custom water cooled loop and all the other hardware had already cost a lot, so decided to go with the 980 pro instead, as the new Gen5 stuff is said to be coming out real soon now.
