> 3 dayFirst off its not as fast as the Hynix P41 so if theyre at a similar price Id get that one. I have both in my system. That said its likely faster than you will ever need. While in theory the fast transfer speeds as outlined in CrystalDisk, for photo and 4K video editing Ive never really gone past a few hundred MB/s so its all overkill. Im mainly using this drive for paging files and cache and eventually to store video projects Im actively working on before I move them back to HDDs for storage.

> 3 dayI recently left a review for another nvme drive, the sk hynix p41. I said in it that that drive drained my battery in my new laptop alittle too fast for my liking. I took that drive out and switched it to this samsung 980 pro. I had mentioned in the p41 review that i thought the p41 was faster than this one. When i tranaferred a 16 gb file when i hooked this one up it transferred it at about 1.5 gb/s while the p41 did it at 2.0 gb/s. Thats nothing to shake a finger at, for either drive especially since both are faster than the 900mb/s my original wd drive moved at. That being said a recent firmware seemed to help this samsung drive because after it i transferred the same file and found it moving at about 1.9gb/s so now this one is almost there although it did seem alittle less stable moving up and down between 2.0 and 1.6 a few times before settling at about 1.9 while the p41 went at 2.0 and didnt look back. That being said, this deive moves that fast, whether its 1.9gb/s or 1.5 gb/s, and still sips slowly from the battery. While the p41 gave me 4 hrs at idle(2 hours less than the stock drive), this one got me up to about 6.5 to 7 hrs at idle and about 4 hours of use time. Believe me i know the battery life is still terrible so id rather not burn through it any faster than i already do. On top of that this drive also stays cooler than the p41. While the p41 sat at 41 to 46 degrees c at idle, this one sits at 31 to 35 degrees c.

Greater than one weekIt is testing up to 3,300 MBytes per second, read and write. (Note: bytes not bits.) This is on a twelve year-old I7 gaming computer, kind of low to mid range these days. Total happiness.

> 3 dayReally pleasantly surprised with this m2 drive. This is the first NVMe drive I’ve purchased and installation should normally be quick and painless! The standoff m.2 heatsink that came with my X570 Aorus elite (wifi) MB decided to completely shear off under light pressure. Including the threaded piece that the standoff actually screws into.. Go figure.
