I ordered this 1TB Samsung 980 NVMe SSD to use with a Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 enclosure that I have. I was trying to think of a way to add space to my Mac Mini, which only has 256GB of internal storage that is not upgradeable. I wanted to add space but not have the performance suffer when compared to my internal drive. The only way to do that is to take full advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the Mac Mini and combine that with a fast SSD. So this Samsung drive and my enclosure are a perfect match. I am very pleased with the results so far. This Samsung drive seems to be just as fast as my internal drive. I certainly cant tell the difference no matter what software I am using.

Purchased the 980 by Samsung, but later Samsung advised they did not make the drivers for Windows 7. Would have been nice if the 980 had Windows 7 drivers. Samsung advised they did not know when they will make drivers available. As such, I could not use the 980 on my computer. Got the 970 Evo Plus and worked perfectly; using it right now to post this comment. Samsung drivers also available / included. Would have been nice to see the 980 perform if only Samsung made the drivers for it and not just depended on Windows 10.

What a fast ssd! Its easy to install but it doesnt come with a screw to adjust the product to the board. Despite that, the performance is outstanding. It just took me about 10 min to do a fresh install of W11.

Main goal: clone my OS to the SSD.

Will buy another one.

Amazing how quickly storage get used up on todays laptop. Easy to order. Easy to install to our Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED laptop. So afr its working fine.

Works great but did not come with screw to hold down card

I bought this one because the faster 970 EVO plus did not work for me . it wouldnt format no matter what I did .tried in my buddies pc also and he has the same one also in there. maybe a fluke , but anyways this one is cheaper and works great . games load almost instantly . cyberpunk on my pc ,when you start saved game right away loads less than 2 seconds. the news announcer doesnt have a chance to say a word . so my boss got impressed and wanted the same for his gaming laptop . I opened the box in front of him . it all looks legit , but there a piece of plastic in there that looks similar to an ssd , but its definitely not an ssd . not sure what the heck it is . see the pics for yourself . so much for the excitement and embarrassment . I expect better sold from SAMSUNG itself . what gives guys ? stop messing with customers , its not funny at all. its definitely worth getting this and it runs cool in my laptop . might wanna get a thin cooling shield and DAMN 1 cent screw that Samsung cant afford to throw in .
