I just got this today and was going over different external HD for consoles all of them have stop working in their comments after 6 months or 2 years on Toshiba, Seagate, and especially WD which I had last and it worked for barely a year as WD has the highest failure rate tested on external HD to date. I figured this is by Sony licensed and has the same firmware as ps4 though I am using it on ps5. Currently as I write this is has taken 2 and half hours to download 72 GB out of 91 for call of duty modern warfare. Not to mention the tons up add ons and updates waiting in the queue that will total 120 plus GB. So I assume it is 7pm that I cant play this game until around 10:30pm. Storage wise it is good. Maybe I should have gotten the Toshiba. I dont remember my ps4 pro HD taking this long to download Modern Warfare. Ps5 is very very fast. The main game 91 GB downloads in 15 minutes on to the SSD. The rest of the game takes like 30 minutes total to download combined for over 200 GB. I would give it 2 stars because of the slow copy speed but it has a lot of space. I will do an update to see how the game plays from the external HD to the ps5. Updated it took 5 1/2 hours to download 200 GB. I am going to return this. So you cant copy saved data from ps4 data on ps5 to the seagate external HD. So because of that you cant play the game where you left off. It shows zero space when you try to copy saved data over to the seagate drive from ps5 the ps4 saved data. It has 1.64 TB of free space when you check the external HD from game app space. Please avoid this. I am really upset. You cant even use this to play games. Ps5 doesnt have SSD expansion yet and it could be later this year. I cant download modern warfare without dumping almost all my games for ps5 storage so I bought this seagate to save space and it doesnt work. If anyone knows that you can move ps4 saved game data over to the seagate let me know. It shows zero space.

Ive had it at least two years, and it routinely tells me it was not disconnected properly and will need to be repaired; itll do it over and over again until one day it says it needs to be reformatted because it cant ne repaired. I have tons of games that I have to routinely reinstall. Without even touching it and shutting PS4 down properly, it will one day tell you that you that didnt properly disconnect the HD from the system, even though you never did. Imagine having to reinstall over 60 or more games over and over and over and over and over and over again, plus any updates said games may have. To hell with this thing.

The software required wasnt installed and the customer service just told me to download it myself however I cant accomplish it because although I can see it on the computer it wont let me open it. I was going to return it but Im overseas right now and its not worth the hassle.

easy set-up for PS4. Lots of storage.

I purchased the Avolusion 2 tb hard drive before this (which was only a few dollars cheaper) and it was nothing but problems from the start. Every time I’d play games (especially online) it would inevitably lock my PS4. It got so bad that I was having to unplug the storage device multiple times during a session and restart my ps4. I finally bit the bullet and bought this one, which has worked like a charm. Absolutely zero problems, and all my existing issues went away. Just buy the product that’s designed for your machine and stay away from the universal garbage. Definitely recommended.
