The only problem that I would complaint about it would be the noise and the heat issue. Other than that it is perfect. Recommanded!

I have a Seagate 1T drive like this 2T drive that has served me well but this drive and 4 others before it would not reformat to MacOS and work as it should if any at all at times. I worked with Seagate support using their step by step instructions to reformat which is the steps I always use to no avail. When plugging in the drive one time it might show up in utilities or it might not. When it did show up you might be able to drop a file to it and send it to trash but also you might not be able to remove the file at all and the next time you plugged in the drive the file may not be there. I got tired of messing with them so went back to my old Internal internal drives and my drive hub for backups. Very Disappointed I really like the one terabyte I have.

My network attached storage devices both died within a month of each other. Rather than spending the money for a new network attached device, I bought this Seagate 2tb Backup Plus. Set up for use as a Time Machine backup disk is not as simple as “plug and play”. But it was pretty easy and worked like a charm. The set up instructions say that it has to be reformatted for use with Time Machine but that happens automatically when you map it as your backup disk. Added benefit - having the drive connected directly to my MacBook makes the backup process run much faster than when I was backing up to a network storage device.

This is great. I used this for my xbox. When I hooked it up and it said I needed to format it which took only a few seconds. I haven’t had any problems yet.

1) It does not include an encryption software and if it does they dont make it easy to do. For the price Id expect an encryption software. 2) It feels cheap, the photos almost make it look high quality but dont be fooled. its plastic. Thin plastic. when youre backing up to the drive you can hear it vibrate thru the cheap plastic. I would have expected better quality from a company like seagate. Next time will buy a different external drive. Im not impressed.

So this is like the backup to the back of the back up backup which is backed up by others drives still. Having quite a collection of stuff from over the years....decades actually...and after having lost much of my older collections Ive become like a crazed survivalist when it comes to data backup. You never expect it to happen....but it will....Murphy says so.
