I use this external hard drive daily for work. Our server at work is typically not accessible when I work from home, so saving files on the server is not worth the headache of repairing that ongoing issue. Thus, I use this hard drive every day. Its small and easy to take back & forth from work & home. Its fast, has more storage than I could ever use, and its a quality product that has continued to work as intended for over 3 years. And you cant beat the price for that. (Especially since Im hard on things; its been dropped a bunch and thrown in my briefcase daily).

Got a good deal on this, 5TB of storage. Hooked up to my Xbox and have had no issues. Will update review if there are any changes.

Great price for the storage but I’m getting corruption errors as of day 2. Every time I use the drive, no matter which computer I use it on, I get an error saying the drive needs to be repaired. I have multiple 500GB portable drives that don’t have that issue. I’ll give it more time and provide updates.

I bought this back in 2019 and for the past year or so, its been having connection issues more often. Ill be replacing this with a different external hard drive.

This hard drive is compact and has an impressive amount of storage. Runs quietly and transfers files fast.

easy to use. back-up a lot of stuff. needed and useful if you care about what is on your computer, this is a must. good, solid quality.

I’d been advised to get a 2TB external hard drive to back up my entire Mac mini contents before purchasing and transferring my data to my new Mac mini. This 5TB HD is much more room than I’ll ever need, but the price was so reasonable, and this way, after loading everything onto my new computer, I can just leave this plugged into the Mac mini so it can continuously keep backing up the data every night. I also bought a case to transport it safely to the store and back just to be safe. I called the Seagate phone and a nice lady in Toronto guided me through setting it up and starting the backup procedure. Allow a lot of time; I had so much in my computer that it had to work overnight. But now I’m all set for the foreseeable future.

I have an old Seagate external drive that still works well but has limited storage capacity for my current needs. Out of the box I liked the size of the new portable 5TB drive. It was very cost effective. Unfortunately the Toolkit software they include did not work correctly with my new Dell XPS laptop running Win10. I followed the prompts exactly to get started but the backup hung with 2 min remaining and never finished. After several attempts I uninstalled the software from my laptop and reinstalled a fresh download from Seagate with the hope some bug had been fixed to no avail. After several attempts to backup it finally gave a backup complete message but the backup had skipped my most important folders containing my photos and Lightroom catalogue. I am impressed that the customer service answered my inquiry within 24 hours but the advice was to use the Windows backup software instead of their own Toolkit. No suggestion was made to trouble shoot their Toolkit software. So far an OK external drive but forget about their preloaded backup software.

Due to the size of this device can back-up my entire computer and have the ability to store pictures and other files just in case there is a problem with my main computer. Piece of mind.
