Greater than one weekSo far I am loving this vacuum. I was debating between corded and cordless, because I hate a cord, but didnt want to give up power. Ultimately this feels plenty powerful and the cord allows me to reach much further than my previous (dirt devil) vacuum. Speaking of the old vacuum, I vacuumed a small section, then hit it with the shark, straight out of the box and 3 or 4 rows of vacuuming filled the dust cup. I think this shows 1) effectiveness, and 2) why I say the cup is slightly small. It could be that as I use this vacuum, I am less annoyed by the small cup as the carpet will be less dirty. Overall, even if the cup always fills up, Id buy it again. Great power and effectiveness for the price.

> 3 dayI bought this as a replacement for an aging canister vac. The fundamental design concept of this Shark vacuum is a good one, but the practical details need some work. First the good. The motor, filters, dust collector, and switch are all incorporated in a compact unit in the top, handle part of this vacuum. In most applications the handle unit will be supported by the extension tube and an accessory resting on the floor, so it is not too heavy. The dust collector has a pretty good capacity and will likely get through an average-size house before it needs emptying. The collector itself is well-designed. It can be emptied while still in the handle unit if you happen to be near a trash can, or it can be removed from the unit for easy transport to a trash can. The dirt comes out easily, with no need for shaking and banging and thereby raising big clouds of dust. The cord is long, which allows for a good range without switching outlets. On the other hand, the cord is long, which can cause some inconvenience with wrangling and tangling. It winds up on two holders, and a neat design feature allows you to swing one of the holders down to remove the whole cord without unwinding it one coil at a time. Power and suction seem pretty good, and the LED lights are surprisingly bright and useful. The turning/swivel mechanism works well. And now for the nitpicking. The business end of a vacuum is where the suction meets the dirt, and it is here where the HV322 could use some refinement. I have mostly hardwood floors, so I figured the Dust-Away hard floor attachment would be my most-used accessory. It is like a combination of a Swiffer and a typical floor brush. However, it has two little plastic wheels on it that rub along the floor, making noise and feeling like they are scraping the floor. In addition, it is about three times bigger than a standard canister floor brush, making it harder to move and to get in all the nooks and crannies. Finally, after using it I feel like I have to take it off and vacuum off the dust that accumulates on the microfiber pad. The motorized carpet attachment seems to work pretty well, with a two-speed brush for low or deep pile carpet. It can also be used on hard floors, but with pretty much the same caveats about size and noise. There is a combination crevice tool/dust brush, which seems like a clever idea but in practice is not so good. The catch that lets the dust brush move keeps pinching me, it is too long overall for easy dusting, and it has cheap flimsy plastic bristles. There is also a motorized pet brush that works pretty well. I dont have dogs or much upholstery, but it did a good job in my car, with a swivel that lets the brush adjust to the surface. I thought I could fix the shortcomings by buying a floor brush and dusting brush. But, it turns out the tube diameters used on the Shark Rocket are not the standard 1 1/4 used by most other brands. With much measuring and analyzing of specs, I finally found an adapter

23-11-2024I have a big Rainbow vacuum that I use to clean the entire house. I love the Rainbow because it uses water as a filtering medium, so suction remains strong no matter how dirty the filter gets and it effectively gets a new filter every time its used. Its only downside is that its large and bulky, so if I have to vacuum a small section (like, a carpet runner in a hallway) its a bit of an ordeal to take out and set up. My basement has been converted to a space for my teenage daughter. Most of it is bare concrete (epoxy coated) but theres some carpeting here and there. Further, my daughters pet rabbit makes its home in the basement so theres a fair amount of rabbit fur and debris (hay, bits of chewed cardboard, etc) around its area. My daughter has been okay with keeping the floors clean but since the Rainbow is big and bulky it wasnt as good as it should have been. So I went shopping for a small yet effective vacuum to handle this job and this Shark is where I landed. Truthfully I wasnt expecting very much, but after the first use I was shocked by how good it actually is. I wouldnt use it to clean the floors of the whole house (I cant see its nearly-all-plastic construction lasting as long as my 35+ year old Rainbow) but I would absolutely use this for a small apartment. Or, of course, our basement. Assembly was insanely easy. I didnt have to refer to the owners manual for anything, although after I used it I did check it out just to see if I was missing any features (I wasnt). The pieces simply slide and lock into place very securely, and are easy enough to disconnect/disassemble as needed. There are several well-marked, large release latches for this. I particularly liked how the power switch works. For hardwood (or concrete) floors, moving the switch to the first position enables the sweeper on the power head as well as suction, so youre not relying on JUST suction to pick up dirt. For carpeted floors, moving the switch forward enables the beater bar to really get into the carpet fibers. My daughters pet rabbit roams an area of about 250 square feet, of which about half is carpeted and it hadnt been vacuumed in probably a month. After using this vacuum on it for the first time we filled the collection bin with bits of hay and rabbit fur and the carpet looked every bit as clean as when I use the Rainbow on it. The LED lights on the vacuum head is a nice touch, allowing you to more easily see dirt and debris on the floor (just look for the long shadows). Removing the power head doesnt make you blind, however, as theres a second LED on the vacuum motor that lights the area youre working on. The vacuum head isnt very tall at all, and the hose bends down enough to allow absolutely flat operation. Using this I was able to get under low-lying furniture like my daughters desk and the nearby shelf units. Suction power is also very good, and consistent throughout its run. I expected the vacuum to be more like the handheld Dustbuster-type vacs we have in the house where power diminishes very quickly as the filter clogs up, but no. Power stayed consistent and strong even with a pretty sold mass of rabbit fur and straw filling the collection bin. Three things I dont like about it, but are minor things overall. First, it comes with a storage hook cast into the casing which is nice, but the matching hook for the wall is an extra-cost item. Its available on Amazon for an additional $24 or you can get an identical third-party unit for less than half. For a nearly-$200 vacuum cleaner, its inexcusable for Shark to demand additional money for this piece. Second, its top-heavy. Now, this isnt a shock considering the nature of the unit and Im not exactly penalizing it for being what it is. But it does mean that when youre done using it for the moment (like, you want to unplug it, or you just need to move some furniture around) youre really going to want to just lay it down on the floor. More than once did I try to lean it against the wall only to have it slide down. If I wasnt paying attention it would have hit the floor hard (top-heavy, remember?) and probably damaged the plastics, which includes the collection bin. And third, the vacuum head doesnt have really good suction on the sides so cleaning the edges and corners of stairs isnt nearly as effective as cleaning the stair itself. Youll be removing the vacuum head to get into those nooks and crannies. Still, even with those issues Id buy it again.

> 3 dayThis is a great, lightweight, yet powerful vacuum. I really love it and I’m glad that I finally found a vacuum that works for my needs. I would have given it 5 stars, except for one little detail. The replacement filters that came with it are not the right ones for this vacuum! Not only that, but you know how we see recommendations for other things that people buy, along with our main purchase? Suggesting we add more to our carts…? Well, the suggestion was wrong too. The replacement filters are way too big. They are not the right size. I only discovered this after the return window was closed. The good news is that the nice people at customer service are allowing me to return them anyway, but I am having to pay a $3.70 restocking fee. I’m not too happy about this. So, beware of this problem! Don’t buy the suggested replacement filters! I am now having to research this to find out which ones will fit my new vacuum. Luckily, they are washable. So maybe I don’t even need to spend yet more money to buy replacement filters.

> 3 dayReplaced an older Dyson that finally quit. Unbelievable how much pet hair and other debris this pulled out comparatively. Knap on the carpet looks better than it has in years. Super light weight and easily goes under furniture and beds.

23-11-2024This vacuum is a God send! I can’t say enough good things. It’s very very easy to maneuver. The head of it is able to swivel, so it’s easy to access corners of a room. It’s also small, but that is a plus!! You can get anywhere with this vacuum. Its size does not at all interfere with the vacuums performance. I also love how you are able to detach the plate under the brush so you can clean out allll the hair that you’ve vacuumed up. It’s such an easy to use vacuum. It pretty much drives itself around lol. I lost track of time vacuuming because I was as enjoying it. Sounds crazy, but the pick up power of this vacuum is off the charts. Good job Shark!

> 3 dayThis is a great option for those like the convenience of a stick vacuum and power of a regular full vacuum. I was able to put together and use this vacuum within 5 minutes out of the box! This lightweight vacuum does great on my carpet, rugs and hardwood floors. Perfect for picking up all that holiday glitter and tree or decor fallings around the house. No more having to use my hand or other tools to empty the carpet/dirt debris around either the filter or motor. The XL cup is separate and very easy to detach and empty. The plug in cord is extra long too. Besr part: No more having to wait for recharging to clean my whole house from top to bottom. Lightweight to carry up and down the stairs / around the house with ease. I wish it came with the an accessory clip to hold the 3 cleaning tools but planning to purchase separately for convenience. Other than that, I luv it so far, I am totally happy with my purchase!
