> 3 daySays it’s “plug and play” for mac or pc but I had to reformat for my mac. Wasn’t hard but wish it would’ve just told me upfront that is very misleading.

> 3 daySimple and does what it is supposed to do. I like how the short USB cable stores. It has been lightly used for 5 months as a grab and go periodic backup drive that is normally disconnected for security purposes. The Power/Active LED is a bit hard to see, but no big deal. The case looks nice and is easy to grab. The drive is very quiet and reasonably fast for a mechanical drive.

07-06-2025I have several other of these same portable hard drives and think theyre terrific. They are very durable and seem to last a long time with no problems.

> 3 dayWhen I received it I plugged it in and my iMac showed it in Finder but I couldnt save to it. I sent a support form to Silicon Power. Tech support is not top notch with some oddly translated questions. After my initial support request they sent me what I thought was a solution but they wanted me to fill out another support form. I finally found that my Armor 30 was formatted for Windows. Using Macs Disk Utility I erased and reformatted for Mac Journaled. Works great. As soon as its plugged into the USB port it is recognized and I can save files to it. Works between my MacBook Pro and iMac. The iMac OS is Mojave and the MBPro is Catalina.

> 3 dayI like this unit. I own 6 other models by this manufacturer. True USB cables on both ends. Built solid.

> 3 dayIve had this 2TB shock proof device since Sept 2018 and it is still working solidly. I dont use it super frequently, but mostly for occasional backups of my work computer. Im not hard on devices, but this is a great unit that has been rugged, reliable and portable. I have purchased 5 Silicone Power(SP) devices in various sizes and protection levels that I use often, and I can say that the Silicone Power Rugged series of drives is my go to option for working drives when going on the road or when Im in environments that I wouldnt want to take most hard drives. I stand by this brand and of the 5 different size/style SP Rugged drives I have purchased since 2015, none of them have failed me yet.

Greater than one weekWe bought this drive to store our new business startup files on as our laptop HD was getting full. The day we received the drive we partitioned it, did a Time Machine backup on one partition and moved the IRS and other files for the upstart of our new business onto the other partition of the drive. (I would not have done this but my other HDs were full and I couldnt do a Time Machine backup on them. Wow, what a mistake that was. We cleaned up the Macs hard drive to make room for new work. Out of the blue an error the USB device was using too much energy showed up and we had no access to the drive anymore. We tried everything including plugging it into 3 other computers. Same error comes up. I contacted SP and I sent back the drive to see if they can recover my files. After 2 week, they were unsuccessful and sent back my dead drive plus a replacement. This drive failed within 4 hrs. Im now desperately trying to recover those files. I have another SP drive for 2 yr now and no issues with it.

01-06-2025There is no software to automatically back up your files like other brands have. You have to drag and drop your files. I spoke to support and ultimately ended up with no resolution from them. I ended up formatting it and cloning an older drive of a different brand so it now has the software required to automatically back up files.
