Snappy Tools Plug Cutter, 3/8

Greater than one weekThe style of cutter basically sucks and I dont even think this is a very good example of this style of cutter. The geometry in the sharpening are all wack plus I dont even think the material is that good. On the other hand I need a grand total of eight plugs And Im not a professional woodworker so odds are that Im not going to be let down by this thing too badly. Because I dont plan on using a lot.

Greater than one weekDoes cut a 3/8” plug cleanly and with a nice tapered end if you drive it all the way down. I’ve cut about 30-35 plugs in hard sapele and I have had no problems at al. I use my drill press on the slow speed- that’s important. And it cuts the hard wood well. It does heat up some after about our plugs I stick it in some water and start again.

> 3 dayMore junk. Completely dull. Doesn’t even come close to cutting a decent plug.

Greater than one weekI was expecting it to cut a taller plug. Kind of pointless for what I needed it for as it cuts a 3/8 to 1/2 plug in height. Oh well. Ended up using a harbor freight plug cutter that isnt tapered instead. Booo.

> 3 dayI used for my cabinets doors made out of Walnut hardwood. I was able to made 900 pugs easily and the bit feels like very sharp after that. I used my Ryoby press-drill and was very easy to drill 900 pieces. Very nice and excellent quality plugs. BUY IT!- Im a general contractor and used this brand for first time and Im very impressed.

14-04-2025I used this for creating wood plugs for a project with a handheld drill and was happy with the results. Im sure they would have come out better with a drill press, but I didnt have access to one. It does take some skill to find the right pressure and speed to avoid burning the plugs as they are cut, but generally felt successful using it and feel it really took my project up a notch.
