Works best in a drill press, it has a tendency to tear out some fibers from the plug so you will end up with a few trash plugs, overall not bad but could definetly be improved

I got this along with a counterbore set from Snappy - I was able to sink some screws on the underside of a serving board and then hide the holes with custom plugs. It worked well for me. The plugs I cut were a little skinny but that could have been use error and a little run out on the drill press. Since I was not looking for an invisible fit I was happy. The bit is sharp and cut through mesquite just fine. Walnut got scorched a bit but once I lowered the speed of the press it was fine for me. I am an amateur and your mileage may vary. Buy American.

No complaints. This little thing works perfectly on mahogany, but probably requires a drill press, which is what we used.

I was expecting it to cut a taller plug. Kind of pointless for what I needed it for as it cuts a 3/8 to 1/2 plug in height. Oh well. Ended up using a harbor freight plug cutter that isnt tapered instead. Booo.

The style of cutter basically sucks and I dont even think this is a very good example of this style of cutter. The geometry in the sharpening are all wack plus I dont even think the material is that good. On the other hand I need a grand total of eight plugs And Im not a professional woodworker so odds are that Im not going to be let down by this thing too badly. Because I dont plan on using a lot.

More junk. Completely dull. Doesn’t even come close to cutting a decent plug.

I used this for creating wood plugs for a project with a handheld drill and was happy with the results. Im sure they would have come out better with a drill press, but I didnt have access to one. It does take some skill to find the right pressure and speed to avoid burning the plugs as they are cut, but generally felt successful using it and feel it really took my project up a notch.

First time using a plug cutter. I cut plugs from walnut, a fairly hard wood. Smoked a lot, so I would let up and go back, trying not to overheat the tool. It rounds of the end for easy insertion. Seems like a good price, I only needed 8 plugs, plan to use it more so time will tell. Would definitely recommend.

Cuts nice plugs. Use to cut face grain plugs, which look much better.

This 3/8" hex drive plug cutter maximizes the torque needed to bore into the hardest woods. Made of hardened steel for long tool life, the cutter features tapered sides and a chamfered end for easy starting, and the tight fit eliminates the need for glue. The plug cutter fits in a quick change chuck (830806)
