> 3 dayI bought this game and Sonic Racing for my six year old daughter. This game by far is way better than the racing game. You will need a old classic controller ( we had the Wii) and not a GameCube. She loves it and finds it a lot easier to use than the Wii controller (i Think). Im just amazed how she does it. The game is a lot more complex than it appears and have multiple levels. Multi-player exists for this game, it acts a lot like Mario games of this era. If you have twin daughters, like I do, multi-player will just lead to fights.

> 3 dayConsidering I myself havent really played the game but a handful of times I thought it was quite interesting. For anyone who may have played the orginal Sonic games for Sega and when they were younger it is similar to that but if you havent played them in awhile like myself it seems harder lol. We purchased this game and another for my children for Xmas and they still enjoy playing this one. Where as they already beat the other game this one they are still working on. And my kids dont get to play video games every waking hour normally only on weekends.

> 3 dayI was skeptical about this when I bought it when it came out. There hadnt been a good sonic game since Adventure 2, but each game showed some promise (I.e. the running parts of Sonic Unleashed). Sonic Colors took all of those promising aspects and turned this into a great game. It is a high speed platformer most of the time, but changing gears every now and then to keep things interesting, which is more than welcome. The graphics are gorgeous, but with a name like Colors they better be. The alien wisps you can use for powers are a nice change for the series, allowing all sorts of new types of gameplay, but they are not overused to the point where they are annoying. A solid game and probably the second best 3D Sonic. Adventure 2 is still better

> 3 dayConsole Sonic games have always been notorious for being horrible. Sonic Colors changes that. Presentation of the game is superb. Level selection is reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy. Its easy to navigate and select worlds and levels. All without having to deal with horrible hub worlds that plagued all the past 3D Sonic games. The story is very light and not very serious. But the way its portrayed is like that of a classic Sonic game. Youll also find some actual funny humor in the game. Though thats because the writing is coming from writers of Happy Tree Friends and Madworld. The graphics are superb. Some of the best looking for the Wii. Everything is vibrant, colorful and very nice to look at. Now music in this game has got to be one of my favorite Sonic soundtracks ever. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the musical score. Most of the tracks are very catchy and fitting to their level. Even the level selection music for Starlight Carnival is over a minute in a half of original music that doesnt repeat (and not to mention very catchy). The voice acting is also wonderful. The voices were replaced with more professional actors, so now the dialogue sounds much better. Gameplay is the most important part about this game, and the one thing everyone was worried about. I have to say its the most fun Ive had with a Sonic game in over a decade. The controls take a few minutes to get used to, but they end up feeling very tight and fun. Way better than any other 3D Sonic game. Its classic 2D platforming with some 3D styled platforming. Gameplay also stays fresh with all of the Wisp abilities theyve introduced into the game. It never gets old and always feels fun to play. One thing that you need to watch out for is difficulty. It really ramps up later in the game and youll need to be prepared for it. Since they throw in some cheap deaths in certain spots. But that shouldnt hinder your intention of buying the game. Sonic Colors is a very fun game. One of the best Sonic games Ive played. Way better than Sonic 4: Episode 1 was. If youve been ditching Sonic for the last 10 years then you dont know what youre missing if you skip this game out. Its not in the same league as Super Mario Galaxy, but its a game thats well worth your time. More so than any other Sonic game out there. Pros: Gameplay Soundtrack Graphics Wisp abilities keep things fresh Cons: Steep difficulty near the end

> 3 dayOk, I loved sonic back in the day. He is without a doubt my favorite video game protagonist, and SEGA was always my favorite video game company. I loved when sonic lived in a 2D world and have never gotten tired of the games for Genesis and love that theyre available on my Wii. I got Dreamcast the Christmas that it came out and just like the old games, I have never gotten tired of Sonic Adventure and am considering ordering the Gamecube DX version. When Dreamcast and SEGA went into debt and SEGA moved to a software-only company I was quite sad. Recently I went hunting around for a fresh sonic fix. I was disappointed after reading reviews to find that there really wasnt any more Sonic games that were as detailed and entertaining as Adventure was. So I went with the highest rated and, after watching some video previews purchased Sonic Colors. The good: This game is fun and I found myself going back to it pretty often until finally completing every level. The game is beautiful as all sonic games are, and the music is pretty nice too. The levels are challenging and most of the game-specific power-ups are creative and fun. There are some pretty neat functions that are new to me, but Im not sure if theyre new to sonic like grinding on and jumping between rails and quick-step mode where youre moving so fast that all you need to do is move left or right to avoid obstacles and collect rings / power-ups etc. Lastly, this game plays much like the old, now retro games in which you go from action stage to action stage, completing Acts 1-6 and finally a boss. I list this as a positive because, even though (as Ill mention later) many aspects of the game seem to be completed without much invested time or effort, this simple system makes me feel like Im playing one of the old games. The not so good: I mentioned that the games music is nice, but I have to make a note that I dont feel that its up to SEGAs old standard. As with most aspects of this game, it just feels like they hardly spent any time coming up with the music. There are some really neat songs that play in various worlds, but quite often I find myself not feeling motivated by the repetitiveness. The game is beautiful and creative, but the story is simplex and the FMVs that carry the plot feel too cheesy (even when they are trying to be) and are obviously and excessively child-oriented. Most aspects of the game (as I have mentioned) feel like SEGA didnt spend much time or effort on them, even though you wouldnt be able to tell by the 20 min long credit sequence when you complete the game. One specific case where you kind of have to read between the lines and understand the challenges of writing a user-friendly program or application is how extremely linear the game play is in Sonic Colors. You are forced through the game. The game is in full 3D but the game-play is only ever in 2 dimensions (maybe sometimes 2 and a half). And the biggest thing that bothers me about all this is that you can only move in one direction at all times. Literally, if the game isnt advancing you automatically, then you are in an area that requires you to move from point A to point B or solve a puzzle. This is slightly like the old sonic games, but the fact that in every single level they completely lock you into one step-by-step direction isnt something that Ive experienced before. Being that this is a game featuring the former mascot of an entire company with a long legacy of outstanding products, Im just left feeling depressed about SEGA entirely. Other notes: I got this at a good price and I wouldnt spend more than $25 on it. Buy something along with it if its not $25 so you can get the free super-saver shipping that amazon offers too! Ill probably play this game quite a few times more, but I am patiently awaiting the day that SEGA either steps back into the video game console market and/or they come out with a Sonic game that measures up to the creative standards of SEGA circa 1998!

> 3 dayThis game is one of the few sonic games that really deserves the 5 star ranking. The unique level design, the great music and when you unlock certain wisps, you can go back to each level and play it differently. The only bad thing I see people complain about is the writing and voice acting. The bad puns, sonic sounding older like a 30 year old, that stuff. I never found the writing in most games important. I find the gameplay important instead of the writing. Really check this game out if it’s on sale.

> 3 dayThis game is basically a combination of Sonic & The Secret Rings and any standard 2-D Sonic game. Its actually pretty cool, but is just missing the element that made Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 awesome. The game more or less plays straight-forward (like running in the opposite direction of the camera) or sideways like 2-D games and switches periodically. It could be my TV again, but I have trouble seeing what is what on the screen. The graphics are unbelievably beautiful! The colors just come alive and are just amazing to look at! Everything in the game is just so well animated and detailed as far as cartoons go. I find it pretty funny that Sonics eyes are very... umm... reflecting like mirrors. Creepy. Nah, its cool. The game isnt super-shiny, but isnt dull either. The way the game works is you start off with a movie (probably the E3 movie), see the classic SEGA logo, but modernized, and then see a really cool title that just says PRESS START (New Game + Continue). You get a map screen with 7 or 8 worlds (much like in Super Mario 3 or New Super Mario Bros.) and within each world, you have at least 5 stages and a boss level. You race through the levels and just like in the classic games, get the high score and best times. You also get ranks, but I havent found out if they do anything like in Sonic Adventure series. Clear a world, the next one opens up. Its a pretty straight forward game. I think the music is a little out of place. Its like some orchestrations and I guess rock. I switched the language to Japanese because it still uses the original voice actors from the first games. I didnt like the English voice acting. You can have English and Japanese spoken and English, German, Japanese, French, Italian, and Spanish (which is pretty rare for games these days). The bottom-line, Sonic Colors is a great return to the classic Sonic series and has simple, fun gameplay to offer. This game is geared towards fans of the classic series and new Sonic fans. Compatible controls (which is very important for me) is basically anything that plugs into a Wii. That is Gamecube controller, Classic Controller, Wii-mote (SW), Wii-chuck, and 3rd party (non-gun) controllers.
