I loved the sound of these. They felt comfortable for a few hours before I got a headache (I wear glasses so finding headphones that I can wear longer is pretty impossible.) My only complaint which is why I returned them is I have colored hair and the cups absorbed all my hair color and stained. I always get black everything and the one time I got a different color for headphones my hair stains them...not worth $300+ if that happens.

If you have a smaller head I wouldn’t recommend, they kept sliding off during my workout. When I returned it took over a month to get my 400 & something dollars back. Had to keep messaging Amazon to return my money.

I’ve never owned a pair of headphones like this, but compared to the other headphones I’ve owned, this blows them out of the water.

I need silence, I didnt realize that the microphone is also dealing with the noise cancellation too. Fantastic

To preface, I did not own the previous iteration of these headphones, the XM4. I did however have the XM3. So most of this review will be a comparisom from the 3 to the 5. That being said, here are my thoughts. Noise Canceling: As always, sony headphones are excellent at Canceling out noise. These headphones have 2 of the noise Canceling chips in them and double the microphones as the XM4. When listening to music the outside world is almost completely silent. Especially lower tones like the running of an engine, whether that be plane or car. Higher, fast tones slip through occasionally but not to any degree thats distracting. I find for the higher tones these headphones are much better than the XM3. Overall the noise Canceling is wonderful and definitely wont disappoint. Sound Quality: I am by no means a professional when it comes to audio. In my own experience I find that these headphones have great sound quality. Better than the XM3 infact. It feels more clear and crisp and the bass has a bit more oomph to it in my opinion. Overall its great sound and definitely an improvement from the XM3. As said before, I cant compare to the XM4 since Ive never had them. Build Quality: This is where the headphones fall a little short. The design, although incredibly comfortable, is rather plastic feeling. Its not cheap feeling plastic, but its definitely a plastic feeling. They are quite comfortable and I wore them for several hours at a time and never got any pain from them. In addition to the plastic feeling, these headphones also dont fold in on themselves like the previous iterations did. The cups flip over so the headphones can be laid flat but thats it. Subsequently, the included carry case is slightly larger than before. I personally havent had any qualms with its size but I think its something to keep in mind. Overall I think these are a fantastic pair of headphones and definitely worth the price if youre coming from the XM3 or earlier. Sound quality, noise Canceling capability, and comfort of the XM5s is just fantastic and its really a premium experience. Although its kinda plastic feeling I still feel it deserves five stars especially since the only time I notice the plastic is when theyre in my hands and not on my head.

I bought these initially for air travel as I no longer appreciate the loud “white” noise of the cabin. I finally was able to sleep going to Europe. I bought these “Used, Like New” for about 1/2 price and it was a bargain! They included everything, even the packaging that looked new. Oh! I also wore these in the hotel when I slept and they were comfy. Basically, I bought these for one purpose, but ended up using them more often than what I intended.

i really like the way that they fit on my head, it’s just really light and comfortable to wear for hours at a time unlike other headphones i’ve used that start to hurt after 30 minutes of wearing them so i’d you are thinking about these i would highly recommend them for anyone!!!

I really love everything on these headphones, great quality great sound and great nois cancelling. The function to pause the music when I speak is great and the voice-focused noise cancellation very useful.

The sound is amazing, especially when paired with a Sony Hi-Rez DMP. The Bluetooth connection frequently dropped and the latest firmware didnt do anything to solve the problem. Sony had no solutions. I purchased the xm4 as I want a Sony Hi-Hez headphone and have experienced one drop whereas by now with the xm5 I would have had 50. The 2.5.1 firmware states that it addresses Bluetooth connection issues ...
