These taps appear to be high quality, but the hooks are NOT connected to the spout. Meaning there is nothing preventing the hooks & spouts from easily being lost from each other.

I’ve tried several different taps and this one was the best. The plastic ones I tried didn’t work at all for me. I tried a bigger metal tap that easily bent when I tried to tap it into the tree. But this one went in easily when I tapped it with my hammer, it didn’t bend and it came out easily when I pulled it out with my hand. And it worked great. I just attended a plastic tube to it and put the tube in a bucket. Worked great.

Have not used them yet but they seem to be very sturdy and should get a lot of years wear with them.

Wasnt sure how well these would turn out but when they arrived they were much sturdier and more heavy-duty than I thought. I tapped 2 Maple trees with two Taps on each tree and got more than enough syrup for myself and even gave some away. All I needed was a drill to get into the tree. Came out with a hammer to pry with and will probably order more for next season.

These work fine but They are way over priced for a piece of stainless steel tubing that’s flared and rimmed. Think I’m gonna make my own going forward.

After raking leaves from my maple trees every fall, I finally decided to get something in return from them. I bought these a month ago and this past weekend I finally tapped my trees. I used a 1/4 drill bit and drilled into the trees just a little deeper than the tree-side of the taps. For each tap I ran a plastic tube into a cleaned-out 1-5 liter orange juice container. (Drill a hole into the lid to fit the tube.) I came home from work yesterday to about two quarts of sap. Ill continue collecting throughout the week and will boil down into syrup this weekend. Assuming a 40:1 ratio of sap to syrup, Ill get about 8 ounces....a small amount, but satisfying to know that I have created maple syrup on my own. Next year Ill tap at a more optimum time in the season to increase the yield.

Making Maple Syrup is a fantastic family tradition for a time of year (early spring) that does not usually have many outdoor activities. Pail Spout & Hook for collecting sap with buckets. Got Pails? No problem. These Hook Spouts are especially designed to hold pails with holes smaller than ¾ inch. The hook spout has a longer shoulder than the bucket and bag spout to ensure that sap does not drip onto the hook and out of the pail. The hook slides on behind the washer. Solid welded construction ensures that this unique product will stand up to years of abuse in the field.
