Get the free wingspan app also. You hover over the bird cards and can hear what they actually sound like. My husband and I bought the original game, this expansion and the Oceania expansion. I would pick Oceania over this though if you only want 1 expansion. The Oceania adds new food and gameplay for more variability. Great game even without expansions too. Even taught my parents who are in their 80s. If you just got the game, watch some you tube videos to help learn. Happy gaming!

This is a well constructed game with lots of strategy involved. Took me 3 times with help from my friends to learn the basics but the more I play it the more I realize how brilliantly it is put together. The properties that the birds have, the value of the bird card, the amount of food necessary to play the card are meticulously worked out. Im not a game player in general but I am a bird lover and when I found how great this game is, I was delighted.

Wingspan takes a little time to learn, but once you learn to play, it’s wildly addictive. I got this game as a gift about 2 months ago. The expansion set makes Wingspan even more engaging. My household plays several times a week, sometimes several times a day.

Family Loves It!

Wingspan has quickly become one of our favorite family games. Some weeks we play several nights a week, several games a night. This expansion has nectar, which I wasnt fond of at first. But the more we played, the more it grew on me. You do need to have the original game, as Oceania is not a standalone game. It isnt hard to learn to play because there are some great new components, but you would ideally already have learned how to play the original game.

These games are a little expensive but well worth it because theyre so well-made and unusual. Get the base Wingspan game and play it a little while before you get the expansion. This expansion adds a ton more birds and really brings out the fun or discovering new birds as youre playing the game. Great replayability too. Ive become a fan of Stonemaier Games because of Wingspan and the expansions dont disappoint! Their motto is We believe in creating memorable, beautiful, fun games. I certainly think theyve succeeded!

My wife and I love the original Wingspan, so it was a no-brainer for us to try the expansion out. After about 12 games or so we both have really enjoyed playing with the expansion. It introduces a few new mechanics and several new cards. To me, the original game could easily get too focused on egg laying. The European Expansion changes things up some and offers some different end-game goals that make the game seem fresh again. We normally play with just two players. Highly recommend both this and the original!

Adds a good number of new powers. Some are really strong compared to original cards, but mixed evenly, I think it can provide cool ways to plan strategies. Would recommend adding in on second play through at earliest. Learn the basics rules, and then add the slight complexity of the European expansion.

We love Wingspan and were excited for this expansion. The new banners are a fun addition and the additional round goals are a good way to mix it up. Art work is top notch and matches base game. Not sure why more food was included since it doesn’t add additional players and the new birds don’t seem to cost any more. All pieces fit (albeit tightly) into the base game box which is nice. Sadly, the Oceania expansion does not.

This is a wonderful addition to a great game. We love this game. It is fun, complex but not too complicated, educational but not in a boring way and the birds are remarkable!! I highly recommend both the main set and this addition for hours of fun!
