This umbrella opens and closes with an automatic button, but its hard to get the stem telescoped back again for compactness. You have to apply considerable pressure from both the top and the bottom---NOT good when you are in a hurry or when its wet. Its also a little heavier than a conventional umbrella. The strap is secured with Velcro rather than a snap. It could be used only as a sunshade, but if I were using this umbrella in the rain, I think I would put it in a plastic bag after closing it with the button, rather than having to push hard on the wet top to telescope it back into its smallest shape. Thats too inconvenient when youre in a hurry. BUT I have had opportunities now to use it as protection from the summer sun, and it definitely helps. Where i live, sunstroke is a real risk, and this solar umbrella makes quite a difference. I consider it a good, practical purchase.

This is a good sun blocker, but it’s smaller than I expected. When sitting on the sidelines in a chair it either shades my head and shoulder or my legs, but not both. And I’m not a large person. I will look for a larger sunbrella.

I like the umbrella, it process me from the sun and I love that. The only thing is, that, you have to have a strong hold when its windy or it will fly away. Otherwise is perfect.

This umbrella is a perfect size to carry around everyday. It’s of mid weight — not light or heavy. I love the auto open/close button on the handle. It looks like it’s made of durable materials & it feels very sturdy — very well constructed. Most importantly it blocks the strong Hawaiian sun’s UV. The black color interior of the umbrella actually makes it feel you are walking underneath a shade—it effectively blocks the sun’s afternoon heat. Knocked off 1 star because even with the vent, a strong breeze flipped it inside out which I was hoping wouldn’t happen because Hawaii’s strong winds are pretty normal in any time of the year. Still I like this umbrella & glad I bought it.

I have been using this umbrella daily for a few weeks and so far it has worked well for rain and sun. The only reason for the four star review is that in order to close it I have to push the open/close button to contract it and then place it on the ground and to push it to full closure. I tried repeatedly but was unable to close it by pulling by hand and cut my finger on a sharp edge when I tried to close it any other way that described above. Be careful of the sharp edges or have bandages ready.

It’s a great size umbrella for one person, it’s okay ish for 2 people to share. Does a pretty good job blocking out sunlight :)

I wanted a sun umbrella that wasnt made of white lace, or suchlike. This is a reasonably sturdy, working sun umbrella. It compacts nicely, to a small folded shape. Opens and closes easily. Ive only used it half a dozen times, so far, but no problems yet. Keeps the sun off well, and holds up to the mild winds weve had so far.
