> 3 dayWeve only had these a week but my sister and I take them on daily walks. We both avoid the sun but find hats quite hot and not quite adequate for full face and neck coverage. These umbrellas have what appears to be a very sturdy mechanism for opening and closing and definitely not only keep you from sunburn but also make a mini cool climate. I use a larger version for days when Im alone walking gardens or touring but this smaller size is perfect for travel and for walking with someone who has their own umbrella. Its also handy when the park where we go had the sprinklers running. So far so good. I will say that they are a little heavier than many travel sized umbrellas but I hope that speaks to the metal being sturdy. The last version I had was much lighter broke after very few times being used.

Greater than one weekI bought this umbrella and a golf-sized uv blocker for comparison. This one is my favorite. Its a nifty size for one or two. I used it at a windy midday baseball game to fend off the desert sun as we sat on fully exposed bleachers. After an hour, we were totally sunburn-free (but thirsty from the heat and bored by the game). It really did keep us cooler and the windflap thing on top let it blow out and then pop back in place when the wind bluffed up. Having just lost a lesser umbrella to a windgust, I was really happy to see this one sturdily withstand. Its lightweight and easy to hold up, snaps back down easily and is made with quality materials. Apart from the UV blocking and wind resistance, I think my favorite part of this umbrella is how well made it is. Definitely recommend.

> 3 dayThis umbrella opens and closes with an automatic button, but its hard to get the stem telescoped back again for compactness. You have to apply considerable pressure from both the top and the bottom---NOT good when you are in a hurry or when its wet. Its also a little heavier than a conventional umbrella. The strap is secured with Velcro rather than a snap. It could be used only as a sunshade, but if I were using this umbrella in the rain, I think I would put it in a plastic bag after closing it with the button, rather than having to push hard on the wet top to telescope it back into its smallest shape. Thats too inconvenient when youre in a hurry. BUT I have had opportunities now to use it as protection from the summer sun, and it definitely helps. Where i live, sunstroke is a real risk, and this solar umbrella makes quite a difference. I consider it a good, practical purchase.

> 3 dayI bought this for an upcoming trip. Im not fond of wearing hats in high humidity. Mine arrived looking just like the picture...same color and with the sleeve. It appears to be a decent umbrella, not the highest quality made but not cheap either. I wont be using it as a rain umbrella, as I have others for that. The outside has a very silvery covering and inside a very dark black. Both are heavy plastic, not the parachute material you find with regular umbrellas. I did not find the handle hard to hold onto, like the previous review. It folds up pretty compact. Not as much as you see with the travel like tote umbrellas but not much larger either. It would fit into a tote bag, or you can carry it by the strap. I wont be carrying mine though, unless I am going inside.

> 3 dayUsed this for Disney on 95 degree days. Definitely kept all sun off top half of us and made it feel a few degrees cooler. Opens and closes easily, good portable size. Seems well made, no huge wind gusts to test our durability.

> 3 dayI like the umbrella, it process me from the sun and I love that. The only thing is, that, you have to have a strong hold when its windy or it will fly away. Otherwise is perfect.

Greater than one weekThis sun umbrella does a great job of keeping off the sun and help to keep you cooler, too, since the sun isnt beating down on your head and shoulders. The only negative I would make is in the design of the umbrella itself. When you try to close it down, unless youre really careful, the ribs of the umbrella tend to dig into your hand. I actually one of the ribs break the skin on the back of my hand one time while trying to close it. Getting it all the way closed into the locked position takes some care and effort.

> 3 dayI received this to replace a sun umbrella I had for years. I bought it a few weeks ago, knowing I was going to be on a trip that involved being in the sun. Well....after using it several times on the FIRST DAY, it broke! I was wondering why the umbrella sagged in one spot. Turns out a screw came out of one of the spines, unbeknownst to me. and the spine poked a hole through the umbrella! As soon as I got home, I contacted Amazon who arranged for a replacement. Im hoping to have better luck with this one. Otherwise I will ask for a refund.
