I purchased the original Sun Mountain umbrella for golfing many years ago and it was a game changer when used it with my push cart. I still use it to this day. I enjoy hiking in Utah, but it can be brutal in the summer. With a sun umbrella it can feel 15 or more degrees cooler under the umbrella. I had high hopes for this umbrella as something I could use around town and keep in my pack. Never took it hiking as it broke after the third use.

This sun umbrella does a great job of keeping off the sun and help to keep you cooler, too, since the sun isnt beating down on your head and shoulders. The only negative I would make is in the design of the umbrella itself. When you try to close it down, unless youre really careful, the ribs of the umbrella tend to dig into your hand. I actually one of the ribs break the skin on the back of my hand one time while trying to close it. Getting it all the way closed into the locked position takes some care and effort.

I think for the price it by it’s very durable and sturdy. The only complaint is that it is hard to pull down to close it without having to use all of your strength.

it works for sunlight and rain. i got caught in the rain and it was perfect. in the sun, i feel the temperature difference when i use it. its not too difficult to open or close. it doesnt hold well against the summer wind...

One of the best investments I made. I love that it is compact and can fit in your purse and even in the glove compartment. I definitely recommend this. The UV protection is true to its name. When I use it, especially in Arizona where the sun can really hurt your skin, I dont feel how bad the sun is and it protects my skin.

I weighed the umbrella and I got 14 1/2 ounces rather than 13 ounces. I got it for a Disney vacation, but I think Im going to take my regular umbrella instead since it is lighter in weight. Id rather get a little sun, then lug a heavier umbrella. It just seems so much heavier than what Im use to. I do appreciate the free returns, but Ill probably just keep it for walks in the Michigan summers.

I wanted a sun umbrella that wasnt made of white lace, or suchlike. This is a reasonably sturdy, working sun umbrella. It compacts nicely, to a small folded shape. Opens and closes easily. Ive only used it half a dozen times, so far, but no problems yet. Keeps the sun off well, and holds up to the mild winds weve had so far.

So Im a cancer patient. Supposed to stay out of sun. I used this umbrella for the 5 hours I was outside in constant overcast with drizzle conditions in florida. I did not put on additional sunblock. My shoulders, neck, face, and head were extremely burnt when I returned indoors. Ill keep the umbrella for rain showers because it is compact... but please do not make my mistake and think you can substitute for needing high spf coverage sunblock or a long sleeve and a hat.
