Worst movie I have seen depicting Custer and the Little Bighorn.

I suspect that the only thing accurate in this rousing tale was the names of some of the participants. Still was rousing fun and very entertaining.

Just like Gone with the Wind, this is HOLLYWOOD HISTORY that is completely devoid of historical truth. The arrogance of Manifest Destiny is given a GLORIOUS spin...Sure, you can talk about the attributes of cinematography and musical scores. But the portrayal of American Indians and African Americans (Gone with the Wind) is early 20th Century Hollywood hogwash.

So tired of seeing armchair warriors kick Custer around, it was good to see him portrayed in a positive light. A brave man to whom the military was his life.

Critics and historians stated that this is the most historically correct movie of Custer and the Little Big Horn event. Follows the Military transcripts and received high accuracy points. We are in a rewrite history mode. These brave men suffered and died for our country and peace.

damn great movie

So many times has Hollywood made films about life/career stories of American Generals. Take Patton for instance. Need I say more? A wonderful film in itself but, not completely accurate. Hollywood, in the 40s, could not make a movie like Saving Private Ryan. I applaud this movie for the horror and ugliness of war that it portrays. A movie like that made in the 40s would have killed morale and faith in the American war machine. That is why history needs a boost per say and a little inaccuracy for spice. This an example of just that. This is a fine story of one of Americas heroes of the Civil War and the Wild West. Hollywoods rendition of his life was fairly true and the history involved in the battle was not. This film, however, was a great couple of hours of action and a little romance. Another fine classic for all Errol Flynn fans to own. He was made for this role.
