Thule Load Straps for Roof Mount Racks

have used these for years on everything. The rubber boots on the cams have saved my windshield and sunroof on countless occasions.

we recently purchased a Thule stacker kayak rack that came with only two of these straps. We quickly discovered that this made it necessary to tie one end of the first kayak loaded onto the rack so that it wouldnt slide off while trying to load the second one. You then had to tie both kayaks with the second strap, then undo the first strap and re-tie both kayaks with it. Having the additional two straps enables us to completely tie the first kayak on, then move onto the next one and strap it on. No retracing steps. It also gives you enough extra strap to run a loop under the kayak, around the bottom of the vertical stacker and back around and up to the buckle. This keeps the kayak snug against the upright instead of trying to slide out at the bottom. I would suggest to Thule that they bump their price a bit and include four straps to begin with.

I bought a second set of these straps (Had the first set from the kayak rack) because they are better than other ratchet straps that I already had.They are awesome . . . the rubber cover over the metal connector is great because it protects your car (and cargo) from scratches. The length is perfect for kayaks, and you can connect two straps together to get a longer strap if needed. I transported a Queen size mattress and box spring on top of my SUV and used these straps, connected together. They were very stable for the whole trip. Thule products are often more expensive than others, but I have found that you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend these, and its worth the money.

Gives great peace of mind securing a kayak to your roof rack

The straps are incredibly strong and the locking nature of the clasp is very solid. I drove from Seattle down to SF using the straps to hold a bunch of boards on the top of my car. They didnt move at all for the 13 hr drive. I would highly rec these. I bought some cheaper straps from Amazon and wish I hadnt. These are well worth the money.
