Im using these in Access Point Mode, and connecting them to my existing router (which has Wifi turned off). This way I get to keep my existing secure router, and use the TPLink satellites to provide whole home WiFi. Absolutely no complaints about the TPLink when used this way. My Wifi is faster, Coverage is impressive (I didnt need the third satellite), and it never drops. Im starting to take my Wifi for granted again (as it should be). No comments on the router features, since I dont use them. The PoE allows me to mount the satellites anywhere with a single cable. I like using PoE because it allows for a professional looking installation without clutter. The price seems high to me, but given the quality of the connection and the mesh, its worth it.

As a 78 year old slow-to-learn tech stuff grandma, I was amazed to be able to set this all up myself without help! All thats needed is getting through the first page of the 1/4 thick instruction booklet...because the rest of the pages are for different languages. However, it appears you also need a cell phone, which I already have, although the same info came up on my pc; but it might be challenging trying to set this up with your pc while also using it. The main thing to know is to connect the first pod (or whatyoumaycallit) with your modem. It took me awhile to realize that because theres only one extra cord that doesnt match any of the others, and that one connects the modem to the first of three identical pods. From there, youre asked for a network name ; and then for a password. Its suggested that you use the same name and password that you used for the old connection to save having to type everything in three times, but I must have had a character wrong and ended up typing this all in for each pod anyway. More little details are in the booklet and/or online which will make setup really easy. It took me over two hours only because I didnt know I needed to start with the MODEM. Afterward, I gleefully took the old router back to the service store and expect to be saving some $$ each month now that Im no longer renting it. And the reception is excellent!

The setup is simple and clean, all you have to do is to type in a name and password for your wifi when you set up the first one and it will set up the rest when you add the remaining mesh to extend your signal. An important note when finding a placement for setting up a wireless mesh, make sure the place you extend from also gets a good signal connection from one of the other mesh routers. For my case, the main router is on the 2nd floor close to the stairs, the 2nd router is placed relatively close to the staircase where the signal is still full bar, the 3rd router is placed also on the 2nd bedroom above the living room where the signal can pass through either from below or directly from the main router. The result is I am able to get a solid 300 Mbps to download out of a 500 Mbps internet plan on the 2nd floor, and 250Mbps on the 1st floor. If my router on the 1st floor can get a better signal from the other routers, Im sure I can get it up to 300 as well. It also gives you 2 ethernet ports per router that you can connect to your computer, hue hub, printer and so on for better connection with those devices. Note that this also applies to the main router and it would lose one port for the internet input from your modem. It is good if you do not have a lot of ethernet connected device in one location like me. For my use case, I am happy with 300 Mbps over wireless. I havent try ethernet through my mesh routers but I am pretty sure it would be the same case as wireless as that is the main way the routers communicate with the main one. Another thing to keep a note of is that you cannot separate the names for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi networks, they are all tied into one name and automatically managed by the routers. So those who like to stay on 5Ghz can turn off 2.4Ghz and force the routers to use 5Ghz but might have worst signal strength when going through walls. They have QoS service, which allows the user to make some devices have higher priority when using the bandwidth, it can also set the priority by the following category steaming, gaming, downloading files, browsing or chatting, where bandwidth can be prioritized to what you think is most important to you. Update: After changing from Wave modem to Netgears CM700 Modem, the speed near the primary router reached 485 Mbps download and from a floor away connected to a secondary mesh router yield 445 Mbpd downloads. This mesh router is good to go for a 500Mbps Internet plan. Not sure if it can go even faster.

This thing books, given yes I have 3 nodes in a rather small apartment but I run everything wireless including Kasa smart plus and smart led color changing bulbs. It serves my multiple devices and computers and I havent even thought of looking anywhere else.

Solved the issue of dead zones in my house. Upstairs and downstairs now have a single network to connect to. RECOMMENDATION(S): Strong Buy! Great solution to remove dead spots in your house. Ive had these for a few months now and have not yet encountered any issues. POSITIVE(S): - Relatively easy to setup, as long as you follow the directions in the manual properly. - Resolves dead zones in your house. - Simplifies upstairs with downstairs by providing the same SSID. NEGATIVE(S): - Some features that come with the unit are trials, and that wasnt explicitly mentioned in the listing. Felt like a bait and switch a little. Would have been cool if those were included for free. Thats the only reason I did not put these to 5 stars.

This is my very first mesh network I bought with the intent to get stable connection for my home and my cousin home. In my home I pay for 400 mbps down and 40 up. Putting this mesh, I connected the main one next to modem in living room and the other two in two separate bedrooms in my second floor. I tested out the wifi single and got full speeds down and up both in first floor and second floor which I am very happy to see. Theres two downside to this product, I was hoping you ethernet connection would be close to the same but is not. My laptop connected to Ethernet port on the second floor got 200 down and 20 up. My main reason for ethernet was to get full speed and stable connection. This product sadly did not provide full speed ethernet but it did give me stable connection where I dont lag in video games. Can confirm for a townhouse wifi you get full speeds everywhere. However in a bigger home, my cousin house was a bigger issue. He pays for 1 gigabyte speeds but with this product his room on the second floor got 300 mbps download and 300 upload. Ethernet connection he got 150 down and 100 upload. The connection again is stable for him which in video games he does not lag anymore. Another downside the app doesnt display accurate speeds per TP Link. It said in the app the main one in the living room was getting 100mpbs download while on the same phone I was getting 400mpbs download. So the product is overall good but the app definitely needs a accurate update. I will be looking forward to TP Link future products to see better result. Again my cousin internet issue is weird because he has a modem built into the wall versus for me my internet company gave me internet through a coaxial cable on the wall and a modem to connect to it. Again for gamers who dont want to lose connection, please grab this product worth the 200 bucks. This waiting if I need to return this or not, Ive read reviews where signal drops and I have yet to encounter that. I had a nighthawk gaming router which drop signal every week. I had to reboot once a week to get better signal and speeds. I will post a update if I have yet to drop signal :)

The instructions for setup are not the best; a lot is left unsaid. I needed to set these up downstream of my existing router, and at first that was a nightmare, but after research I thought I had discovered the problem, and a chat with tech support confirmed that. If installed and connected to an existing router, the first unit must be set to AP mode instead of the default, which is Router mode. Once that was done, the rest was relatively straightforward. My LAN is a complex web of switches and clients, but the DECO system works fine with that. I have six units covering two houses using wired backhaul (each is simply plugged into my LAN that was already available at each location and then plugged into power). In theory the 2nd and third unit will automatically set themselves up, but you have to wait about 5 minutes to see if that works. Sometimes connecting to a units own network using the app can be problematical at first, but it eventually works (perhaps the 5 minutes comes into play here). After setting 6 units up I have seamless mesh over two houses connected to my LAN and my up and download speeds over wifi are the best I have EVER seen! Over 400mbps down and 300 mbps up. Network optimization works well and is partly automatic, but can be done from the app whenever desired, and it helps speed things up and elminate problems. I found that the signal strength at my Ring cameras improved greatly with the DECOs compared to my previous WAPs, too, which was an unexpected pleasant surprise. From being ready to send them back in frustration the first day before I solved the problem, I have moved to become a very entusiastic supporter! Tech support was great (though a bit of a pain to get to a human on chat).

Having three kids in virtual pandemic learning, the demand for a strong WiFi signal was critical. I researched several different solutions and learned that a mesh system with future WiFi 6 support was the best route to go. I needed to solve two issues: 1) strong WiFi in our two level house and 2) ability to connect wired devices. The DECO X20 solved both of these issues and provided an easy interface to manage all the devices. With the older single Linksys router, we were only able to pull down about 20 - 30 Mbps on the second level of the house or in rooms really far from the router. With this new 3 mesh radio system, we can get over 200 Mbps when we are close to a unit (10 to 15 feet away and we get 250 Mpbs service from our ISP) and over 125 Mbps upstairs (15 - 35 feet way and through a ceiling). The price point between the X20 and X60 was an important factor. While the X60 has a tri-band radio and could pull down a faster signal, it only had 2 units and was more expensive. It was more important to get the strongest signal most disbursed through the house at a reasonable cost. Also, I knew I could have at least two units connected via ethernet, so the wireless performance would not be degraded (that much) for the throughput wireless signal back from the unit without an ethernet cable. The router administration is easy to use and relatively straightforward. The system requires a download of a proprietary app that must have an internet connection to set up the username and password. The app has a few non-subscription firewall benefits like whole network antivirus, intrusion prevention, and infected device quarantine (like we dont have enough of that in 2020). There are parental controls, Quality of Service settings and for those with advanced router skills, a typical advanced settings area. There is also a monthly report that gives you device connections and security recommendations. On the whole, since I upgraded the system about three weeks ago, no one has complained about getting online or connection issues for school or work. The system seems to perform well and has consistently provided strong download and upload testing scores. I would recommend this mesh router system to anyone who needs something at a decent price.
