Ive struggled for years to get a good Wifi set-up in my (largish) house that worked well with Apple products. Id have multiple WAP all back-haul cabled to the switch, but it seemed the Apple devices never chose the right WAP. With this Deco systems, all the SSIDs are the same (for both 2.4G and 5G bands) and so they just go with the best signal strength. I ended up buying two sets for a new place that was over 5,000 SF. Within each set, all three nodes are already associated with each other - its plug and play right out of the box. For adding additional units beyond, its only a little more complicated to get it to associate. Awesome units!

Im an IT geek / software developer for a living. I know all about how this stuff works and I wanted fast, but I didnt need crazy expensive for my home and some of these mesh systems are way overpriced IMHO. Reality is you can have all the latest crazy standards but once you get 20ft from the access point all bets are off and youll never see the speeds you see quoted so you need to mix practical with price. There seem to be sooo many mesh system options these days, that I was overwhelmed, but after some consideration I thought I would just go for this one which seemed reasonably priced, but still offered most of the latest standards (and thus speed limits) and also had free returns! In this case this config with 2 slave units was great for my ~4500 sq ft house, my previous single access point left some dead spots (like my Ring outside the house) just outside the range. But with this setup I can blanket the house and get pretty good speeds (>100-200Mb throughput) just about everywhere, and faster (400+ when you are reasonably close / line of sight to the access point) Its important to remember when thinking about laying these out in your house what and where you need the speed. If you need speed inside your house (say you are always streaming movies from a pc to another device) or if you need speed from a device to the internet. The slave access points can only provide as much throughput back to the main access point (which is probably directly plugged into your router/internet) as good as their own wireless connection is to EACH OTHER. eg: if you put the slave access points 50ft away they might only be able to get like 20Mb back to the internet, as your devices is going from device -> slave access point ->* main access point (next to your router/internet) and the * connection is the weak link. What was the killer feature for me on these is you can actually use ethernet as a backbone for the slave access points. My house is pre-wired with ethernet so I was able to put the slave access points pretty far but every slave is hardwired back to the main access point and thus has 100% of the throughput back to the internet so no matter which access point you connect to in the house each access point is as fast as the main one so the access point to access point speed drop is a non-issue if you can set it up like this. DO THIS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! Its like having 3 full speed access points strategically dropped through your house. It wasnt obvious I could do this from the (very basic) docs for setup that came with it, but a quick search through the online docs showed you could this and its brain dead, just plug your home network into the port on the back. Extra bonus feature, you can use the 2nd port on the back as a local hardwired port so if you have a single PC or device (like an xbox or something) next to the access point you can still plug it in directly and get full hard-wired speed without needing to buy an extra switch in the middle. Note: If you dont use the 1st port for the backbone, then you get 2 ports for local devices that will get at least Access Point -> Access Point speeds without one more wifi hop needed. I was pretty impressed with the iPhone app that you use to manage the setup, gone are the days of a webbrowser hitting a super slow admin page, the app is snappy and you can tweak all kinds of stuff. (favorite feature: One of the access points ended up in a kids room and they complained about the LED at night, guess what, turns out theres a night mode where it turns off the LEDs during a timewindow in the settings pages!) The mesh part works really good too, from the app you can see your device move from access point to access point and what devices are on which and stuff. Super handy for initial setup troubleshooting and geeking out over how its all working. I will admit, I was a little nervous since TP-Link is sort of a more bargain brand in my head, but Ive had it going for about 8 weeks now in my house and its been basically flawless. Im sold, Id TOTALLY buy this again or recommend it to a friend (or anyone reading this)!

I have been having issues with the Wi-Fi connection in the basement of my house. I have used NetGear Extender, and spectrum but to no avail! The spectrum technician that came to check the issue advised me to buy this product, it was expensive and out of my budget but IT WORTH IT! I had to dump my spectrum and netgear cos this is the real deal! Tp-link works in my basement. Im very excited I bought this product

I replaced an ASUS AC1900 router and Linksys RE6300 with the AX1800 DECO X20 mesh system with 3 units. 2600 square foot 2 story home. Modem and office on second floor on one end of the house; master bedroom on the other end. We could get ok reception on the second floor with the old system, with 320 mbps download speed in the office and a max around 70 in the bedroom. Our living room downstairs would get almost 50 at best, and outside on the deck about the same at 5 GHz. Using 2.4 GHz, which some items require, would could barely get 20 in the master and 10-15 downstairs and deck. Installed the new system, which was a breeze following the instructions on the app, and in well less than an hour we were up in running. Placed one unit where the old router was, a second unit about 5 feet from where the extender was (middle of second floor), and the third unit downstairs in the living room. Results were better than I expected. Office still had over a 320 download speed and the master bedroom was now over 250. The downstairs living room and outside deck were now around 140. I also went out to our firepit, which is 50 feet from the house and had over 100 Mbps download speed, where I always had issues connecting there before.

I was concerned installing this product because of my At&t combo modem & router but I plugged it in and It set itself up with in minutes! It has just been a few days but so far it is working very well. I am cautiously optimistic that this will be a major upgrade to our wireless system! I just wish it came with a better getting started guide for insecure non tech people like me.

    * Error proof for this impatient user! * Love the mesh system and the coverage. * Great deal - vastly better than a replacement for my prior configuration. I love using technology - setting it up? Not so much. When I set up my prior router - a multi-antenna Asus and wifi extenders - it was painful. I moved, the old router quit working, and I was worried that this would be too much new - mesh, 6G, and an app. WRONG - it was a HUGE improvement. (yes, Im shouting). It was easy and really worthwhile to make this quantum leap. Quick, simple, intuitive. Great value. I researched this to death, waffled, and finally went for it. So glad I did.

Pros: The cost is not as high as some systems. The units have an indicator light which you can turn off at night, or at some hours you choose, in the app. The light tells you the status of the unit. Cons: probably more than most reviews mention. You have to use the app to control the setup and such things and it is a mediocre experience. The indicator lights are REALLY bright. You dont want them on during the night if you want to sleep. The units are fairly large and need space. You might be limited as to where you can get connections. The X20 is not as useful in my home as I expected. The satellite units during a set-up (or reboot) dont consistently connect or reconnect well with the base unit unless sitting next to it. They all seem more susceptible to physical interference than I hoped. The description in the ads touting how well this will expand your wi-fi can too optimistic. I have one room with terrible wi-wi and none of the Deco units will maintain a connection to the main unit even though only a short distance away. The Deco management app is barely useful. There are hidden options and you really need to go to the companys website to get the info you need. Plus one icon is basically there to sell you on an upgrade for security. Set-up should in theory be simple. It isnt in practice. In addition, every reboot or reconnection after a lost signal shows duplicate devices connected, many with unknown as the description. Sometimes no memory of the device names you set up. That leaves multiple mystery entries under the connection list. Way too hard to tell if all the devices are yours, or if you have something unwanted going on, or if these are leftover artifacts from a reconnection. I did have the need to contact the company at one point while redoing the cable/wi-fi/modem connections. The tech tried to help but it was not the best experience. I found the problem later, myself. I think if I had to do this again, I would spend a little more and try for a better system with a really good app.

I I love the look of these and the Es and setting them up. I have a long house with lots of walls and these were the perfect answer to get my signal into all the rooms. I have no complaints and no loss of signal
