Very good build quality. Smooth operation and I believe that the mechanism will hold up for a very long time.

I only gave it 4 stars because it is so ugly - I wish they could make this product with a bit more variety of color. But as far as it working, it works GREAT - you feel much cooler in the hot sun under it and the UV blocker really works, I didnt have to wear SPF on my face at all and I spent a week in Cannes on the beach under this thing and got NO pigmentation on my face. Im very happy! They just need to make it look a bit nicer. Also the straps with velcro that tie it together are too long, so they flap around annoyingly when using. Also, it is not as compact as most umbrellas - so its not ideal for travel.

Arrived with one of the ribs broken, was actually missing a piece that held it in place. Next time I picked up to look at it resisted opening than opened super fast on own dangerously when I wasnt trying to open or expecting. I was even aware of this risk from another reviewer but still caught me off guard & could have injured. It wouldnt stay open. Pushed it out and never would catch and hold, just crumbled. This hasnt happened since and opens and closes fine since but I try to be extra careful. The canopy fabric really blocks the sun and is well made in terms size and uv protection just needs better mechanical design and quality at this price point especially. I will get a replacement (and btw, Amazon does make this easy and free to return so that helps) and update my review and let you know how replacement goes.

it does its job

Easy to use. Withstand high winds. You can feel the difference in heat, when you move the umbrella. I love it, I was definitely cooler with it.

Someone special cant have direct contact with the sun. Since receiving this gift, they have been able to enjoy the beach in the earlier part of the day. Perfect for sun protection.

this UV-Blocker Umbrella arrived right on time for summer - i had a skin cancer taken off the top of my head a number of years ago; my hair is quite thin; and i know i am supposed to avoid the sun . . . so what is a body to do when its time to walk the dog? I am so glad i ordered this space-age looking (silver) parasol to protect me from those harmful rays. It is my summer security blanket, and i am grateful to have it. It does not pay to take chances with your skin, especially when you can walk cooler - yes! it feels cooler walking beneath it - and you know you are protected from the sun. Great product - glad i stumbled upon it at Amazon!
