I keep these around for testing, and often they wind up just saving the day when a new connection is needed before the wiring guy can get by to run a new home run. Good quality metal case. Essential for my IT toolbox. Cheap enough to just leave if a customer needs one.

I needed to expand the ports at multiple locations now that I live in a house wired for Ethernet and have very high speed FIOS (several times faster than any previous cable modem). The audio/video, what with streaming and all, the workstation class computer that has laser printer + PC. I am an IT pro, but on my own time I like things simple and quick, because Im not going to get approvals, not going to document it to death, not going to do anything but use it. This is the kind of switch that you just plug in the ether net cables and double check both ends (one wasnt in far enough) and presto - youre done. Thats the way I like it. The unit is small and doesnt get in the way, which is nice since its going to sit next to other devices in a small group where shelf space is at a premium. I was able to use a standard surge protector and a [...] to keep things tidy, and the brick that this device uses is small enough to not get in the way inside the BLD box (see url).

Perfect expansion switch for a wifi router if youve got a couple more devices to connect.

This switch failed within 1 week. I should have known better than to make a purchase based upon price. Terrible product

I bought mine in February 2013 and it died today. I had all five of its ports operating and passing signal to a couple of TVs, a music tuner and a PS3. I never moved it from its location or switch its power. It simply began turning itself off sporadically and then it stopped altogether. I dont think 3 years is a reasonable life expectancy for an unmanaged, simple 5 ports, standalone switch. Yes, it is cheap, but branded as a quality piece by TRENDnet and highly rated by customers. I think I will stick to Cisco switches for now.

These a very nice dependable switches. I own several 5, 8 and 16 port versions and theyve all worked out much better than the Linksys/Cisco models Ive used. I also get these for my computer company and have probably bought well over 100 of them in various configurations. Best switch out there for the money.

I bought 2 of these and have had no problems with either units for over a year. I would buy another if I had the need.

A+. I would purchase this again if I needed another switch. I checked my ISP connection speed with Speedtest.net before and after the switch was connected and there was no significant difference. I now have three computers and a network printer connected to my cable modem via one CAT5 cable.

This is my go to cheap small switch. I always carry a few with me in case a client needs one.

Used to replace an aging 10/100mbps switch. Upgraded the office to gigabit and this switch did the trick. Small but stable design. It does the job at a fair price.
