> 3 dayI bought the dye so my students can create tye-dye socks and t-shirts for World Downs Syndrome Day. The kids had a lot of fun twisting and tying and putting color on the material. We let it all sit for 24 hours and then washed the products. (Cotton t-shirts and socks) When they came out of the wash ALL of the socks were white and blue only. All of the red, yellow, and green colors were washed out. I re-read the directions (I am a teacher) and made sure that the instructs that came with the product were followed to the letter. We prewashed the fabric and dried it and added water to the dye bottle, filling to line. (note how it does not say a particular temperature) Then it says to apply dye to the fabric (doesnt say anything about using rubber bands to create the tye-dye effect). We then wrapped and covered the fabric overnight and rinsed it well with water as instructed. Here it says to cut rubber bands (note, nowhere before does it say to wrap the fabric using the bands). Not even in the tips does it suggest anything. So before you lose money on this product as I did - according to their website it says: 1) Use WARM water to mix the dye. Hot water will break it down, and cold water will cause it to undissolved. 2) Use rubberbands on fabric to help create a nice pattern. 3) SOAK MATERIAL IN VINEGAR to saturate BEFORE you apply the dye. 4) Use dye to create patterns 5) Let sit overnight or up to 24 hours. 6) Rinse in COLD water thoroughly to remove the excess dye. 7) Washing in WARM water is the final step. Hope yours works out well using these revised steps from the internet. I am truly disappointed in the Tulip brand that I came to know and love for years.

> 3 dayTye dye is so fun and addicting. This kit provides plenty of colors and allows for multiple uses. Great as a gift. I would definitely buy again.

30-11-2024Ultimately, you need a lot of each color to really do anything. The description is misleading. Really, this could only serve a couple shirts. Id rather have more of fewer colors, then so little of so many colors. I bought it to use with my students, and it was barely enough of the fun colors

Greater than one weekThis is a great tie dye supply set. Its complete and has everything you need with the exception of shirts or other items you wish to tie dye and plastic bags for the items to sit in while the dye sets (gallon sized ziplocs). This was our first time doing tie dye, so I took my time looking up suggestions and tips. Following some basic tips went a long way in guaranteeing not only that this wasnt a completely messy disaster, but also that the shirts turned out vibrant and continue to last wash after wash: 1. Choose items that are 100% cotton and wash them before using the dye to remove any manufacturing chemicals, etc. 2. Start the process with damp materials. I took ours right out of the washing machine. They shouldnt be sopping wet, simply damp. 3. Use a kitchen cooling rack for dying. This allows extra dye to pool under the item where it wont mess up the patterns attempted. We also used this over a sheet pan so it collected the dye and was easy to dump! For patterns we wanted to be specific, we rinsed the pan/cooling rack/our gloves with the hose between each tee. 4. Use a lot of dye! Damp material helps the dye go further, but you still need to soak each color section well. Pour into fabric folks as well to make sure you get full coverage. With this set, we vibrantly dyed 11 tee shirts (2 adult L, 1 Adult 2XL, 1 Adult M, 1 Adult SM, 1 Child L, 3 Child M, 2 Child SM) 5. GO OUTSIDE! No matter how cleanly you think this can be done, it cannot. Take it outside for everyones sanity and for the benefit of your homes interior. 6. WEAR. THE. GLOVES. And wear clothes you dont care about. Even filling bottles, you will find the powder magically appears on your gloves (its evil like glitter!) and any drops of water mean instant dye. Take it outside and wear clothes that are black or clothes you dont care about messing up. 7. Once done with an item, do not unravel it. Place it in its own ziploc bag (I suggest gallon size) for at least 24 hours. 8. After 24 hours, take each item out of its bag separately, remove any rubber bands and rinse with the hose outside. Rinse until the water comes out fairly clear. Dont panic if the item starts to look grey as you rinse. That is normal! 9. Wash each item SEPARATELY in HOT water and then hang dry. This is the only time you need to wash them separately. (You can get away with washing like colors together if you arent afraid of any dye swapping in the wash). Hang dry. 10. For the next THREE washes, wash the tie dyed materials together with no other items. Wash on HOT and hang dry. 11. From the 4th wash on, cold water is great and they can be washed as normal. To keep vibrant, always hang dry. Bonus Tip -- YouTube is an excellent resource for patterns! Especially the videos provided by the manufacturer. It seems like a lot, but it really is easy! And this is a no-fail way to make sure you love your items and they last a long, long time!

Greater than one weekThis was a fun kit and my family of 6 was able to each make a shirt of their own. The only complaint is that some of the powder dye escaped the bottles during shipping, so it was messy when we opened the box. Also they give you 1 small square of plastic thats supposed to be a table cover but is only big enough for 1 project at a time. My family split all the colors up (youll need at least 1-2 whole bottles of color for 1 adult shirt) and we bought a large cheap plastic table cloth to protect the whole area so we could all make our shirts at the same time while the dye was fresh.

> 3 dayThis is a great little tie dye kit to get a large amount of fabric dyed. The bottles are a nice size and easy to prepare. It comes with rubber bands but I would but extra if youre using for a party. I also would buy different gloves to use, but the ones in the kit will suffice if need be. I would personally buy the 1oz squeeze bottles to fill and 4 or 5 to give to each child to use if I were using for a party or group, I would find it difficult for everyone to use if only sharing the main bottles and they can be harder to control the amount- easily using up most of one color if you have one that isnt mindful of what they are doing. Other than that, great value for the money

Greater than one weekFor only $14.00, this tie-dye kit is a must! Each color is in fairly small bottle, but the variety more than makes up for it. I was able to dye about 16 28” 100% cotton Tea towels using the entire kit. (Note that it’s short of the “30 projects” the box claims. Clearly, what they count as a single project must have been much smaller, maybe something like baby onesies. I would estimate this kit would make about 15+/- kids t-shirts, depending on size and how much dye gets wasted if drippings are not collected in buckets.) I let my towels sit for ~20 hours for maximum intensity (the instructions recommend 6-8 hours). They did fade a bit when washed, which is to be expected since no mordant is used, but the colors are still acceptably vibrant. My only criticism of the kit is that the pinks/reds/oranges (5 colors) are way too similar to each other and make the overall kit very red-heavy. Coral and Orange are nearly identical, as are Pink and Fuschia, which both look like diluted red Dye rather than nicely saturated pinks. Teal and Turquoise are also very similar, but the range of blues and greens is much more dynamic. The purples were fair and it definitely felt like there wasn’t enough yellow. Overall, this kit gets two thumbs up. It’s exceedingly easy to use for both children and adults. For the price, it was absolutely worth it!

> 3 dayThis an excellent set of tie dyes with various colors. Easy to use with well written instructions and diffrent ideas of how to tye dye. There was lot of diffrent shades of pink and reds , but only 1 green, 1 yellow and no gray or orther earth tones. This was a great for a bunch of us ( 6) to have fun and tie dye. I wanted to do more so i ordered Rit dye in diffrent colora so i could chose the colors I iike. Kit comes with rubber bands and a few sets of plastic gloves.
