This is the kind of gift you get for someone who has everything. Or is bored. Or needs to have something to occupy their time while recovering. Or is part Meerkat (Craig and Shiela!). I would suggest reading the enclosed instructions more than a couple times before attempting to set this up. I would also suggest that you learn to program your local First Responder frequencies into it, or you wont be satisfied with your purchase. Also, use these responsibly. It was because of one of these that the rest of my family even knew of my fathers in-the-middle-of-the-night house fire and we could respond accordingly.

It is easy enough to locate the local frequencies which you may want to cover. I do not usually read user guides, but I followed this one closely. I consider myself tech savvy, but this was difficult to set up and is still not fully set up. We want this functionality but are not getting good use of the device because the setup information is so poorly informative. It stays off all the time. Setup is on my to-do list, but its been several weeks.

It is annoying that I bought the antenna in the CUSTOMERS ALSO BOUGHT section of Amazon. The included antenna was better than the one I paid an additional amount for. Programing is not the easiest but there are a few Youtube videos out there that helped. I had to reset the memory first by making sure the batteries were taken out, unplugging the unit, holding down the 2,9, and Hold keys while plugging it back in. Once that was done things worked as in the manual and on Youtube. Speaker is plenty loud for my small office and the quality is good. The knobs are solid. The back-light feature is nice. Overall I am happy with the scanner and enjoy the Marine, Ham, FM and Weather stations as well.

Great little scanner ! Very easy to program… the sound is very clear, even if you need to turn up the volume .. picks up surrounding town frequency’s with no problem .it had s built in clock and an Fm radio receiver ... one minor negative , it took long to deliver .. but turns out it was worth the wait ! Highly recommend ..

We use it to listen to our local fire and police departments.

I bought this for the aircraft band. Ive got Jax high altitude, Jax, Craig, St Aug, NAS, Herlong, and Cecil Field all programmed in. Everything is pretty straightforward and simple to use. Didnt even need the owners manual. The marine band scans so fast its crazy...I bought the refurbished unit, a great deal.

Send me the frequency numbers to program it for my area and then I can tell you how it works

This was bought for a gift. They like it and said that it is clear and works good.
