    Greater than one week

I bought this as a budget gaming monitor because of the 1ms MPRT backlight strobing feature and the higher than average PPI (~103 pixels per inch). The motion clarity of 1ms mode is good with minimal cross-talk. I hoped there would be adjustable strobe-pulse-width that trades brightness for motion-clarity, but I guess that’s too much to ask for a budget monitor in 2023. Note that cross-talk is worse at the top and bottom of the screen than it is in the middle. Removing the anti glare film was simple, and I didn’t even need to remove the bezel to get it all. I just used a couple plastic pry tools and it came off easy.

I originally bought this to replace an Acer SB220Q as my primary monitor and was, at first, disappointed overall. The contrast was extremely high and tuning its settings through the OSD (whose buttons were extremely sharp and cut into my fingers) didnt help at all. Colors were slightly more saturated than I feel they should have been. Viewing angle was pretty narrow and corners were dark, and coupled with the high native contrast, it was difficult to view any dark images or games. Theres a noticeable screen-door effect on plain white images. The speakers were super gutless and required the desktop audio to be cranked up to max to be audible, at which point it would lose any clarity and had no bass to it whatsoever. Its response time setting was supposed to reduce motion blur, but the tradeoff was that it added significant ghosting and choppy motion. Most importantly, it had a vignette along the right edge of the monitor that was annoying enough for me to RMA it under warranty. I received an older manufacturing date model as a replacement and the quality of the two monitors is night and day for some reason. The contrast and colors now match my other displays, including the SB220Q. I was able to get an almost 100% image match with very slight tuning of the RGB. The monitors OSD buttons are more square and blunt and dont require as much force to press. The speakers are noticeably better. The response time setting now works with no noticeable trade-off like the ghosting before and makes high-speed games look great. Unfortunately, the screen door is still there and this one also has a dark edge along the right side of the screen albeit much less noticeable, but the improvement in the color was enough to warrant me keeping it. Its on-the-fly gaming mode isnt for me as it turns the image bland, flat, and washed out in favor of lower contrast thats supposed to make it easier to see in the dark for esports or tactical games or something. I recommend this for gaming, where youre likely to not focus enough on the image quality to notice its issues, but not for creative work or art as its color and light seems to be inconsistent between units.

Great choice I did. Exactly what I needed. The size, the image brightness, the resolutions, its great. Also, the buttons are not touch. I hate touch screen buttons. It has VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. It comes with VGA and DVI cables. Get an Amazons Choice 6 feet HDMI cable if needed. I am expecting mine to arrive soon. The base is great. I hate these retractable base/stand monitors. Cons: The built-in speakers are low. But thats not a biggie, I use Bluetooth and wired headphones. Update: Affordable price. The buttons are below the monitor not in front and its cool. The screen luminescence is bright enough for daylight, and not so bright for when its dark, but is not recommended using bright screens on a dark room. It causes health consequences. I can pass the audio via HDMI to the internal speakers. Working good so far, since May 2018. Will update if anything comes up.

For the price, the picture is nice and I have no dead pixels. However, the sound is so dismal that were it not for the deeply discounted price I paid, I would return it. It is sad to say it would not be an exaggeration to say the sound is _literally_ no better than a string attached to a tin can; (really... literally). It is is _that_ bad. For that reason, I decided to not use the HDMI cable from my computer to the screen; (which, when used, give you no choice but to use the internal tin-can-speaker system). Instead, I attached my Digital DVI cable between my computer and the Viewsonic Display, which allowed me to use an external speaker. I was previously using my (20 year old) top of the line Dell Display which had an optional sound bar attached to the bottom with two small screws. I removed the sound bar and now have it laying behind this Viewsonic Display. *NOW* the quality of the sound matches the quality of the picture. [Short Version]: If you must use this Viewsonic Display (or any Viewsonic model within this price range), along with an HDMI cable, be prepared for _horrific_ sound in which my analogy of a string and a tin can is extremely accurate. The problem with using HDMI is that you have no choice but to use the internal tin-can sound system. NOTE: I tried a few of the Viewsonic models in this price range. Apparently, anything under $150 gets you a string and a tin can for a sound system. It truly is pathetic, and were it not for this issue Id give the Display 5 stars... especially for the price.

Good picture quality. Im using this as a third monitor on my triple monitor stand on my desk, but using it now just as a TV. I wanted to have all three monitors match in size and style. I have no complaints about the monitor itself, but the speakers are too weak to be used for a TV or for gaming. Also, the controls are not very intuitive, and the monitor does not come with a remote. You have to push a couple buttons to get to the volume control, then you have to manually exit out of the menu. Like I said, Im using it as a TV, which is not really what a straight monitor is for, so these complaints might not apply to everyone. Thats why I still gave the monitor four stars. For the price, the picture quality is great. But the speakers are weak and the button controls are not very intuitive, no matter what youre going to use this product for.

This is a real review from Chicago Illinois. I bought x2 of these monitors on November 8, 2020, and today is March 31, 2022. One of these monitors functions well, the second one started to develop dead pixels around the 5th/6th month, which later turned into complete vertical dead lines. Now, a year and a half later, there are x6 fully dead vertical lines on the screen in various spots. So if you are thinking about buying one of these, you have about a 50% chance of getting a bad one. If I had to do it again, I would go with a different monitor.

Update 2: Submitted the paperwork required to get it replaced via ViewSonic warranty program. The process required several emails back and forth and was kinda confusing but overall, ViewSonic reps were quick to respond to my emails and answer my questions. They sent me a new monitor and then I used the same box and packaging to return the old monitor. The only part that made me uneasy was that they require your cc number incase you do not return the old monitor or if they decide it is not covered under warranty (which is understandable). However, what bothered me is they never acknowledged that they received the new monitor. Tracking clearly said they got it but after several emails, they never would admit that they got it and I was in the clear. All I want is closure and a statement that the process is complete (and my card will not be charged). All in all though, I am happy with my new monitor and very happy that they followed through on their warranty. It seems that most companies find any excuse to not follow through. Update: Submitted a RMA request as instructed by the manufacturer and am currently waiting to hear back. Great monitor for the price, however, within a month of having it, a cluster of pixels have died in the center of the monitor, leaving an obnoxious white spot that you cant get rid of. Considering how fast it appeared, I imagine more will be on their way out soon.

This monitor is my go-to for playing twitch shooters like Call of Duty. It has excellent colors and contrast. The response time makes a difference over a TV with huge input lag. While Im not scientific about the color reproduction, I thought watching movies looked great on this monitor, with deep blacks and vivid colors. My only issue is the game mode is not customizable at all and essentially makes the screen super bright which truthfully hurts my eyes. I dont really see the point in using game mode as there was no discernible difference to the input lag (at least for me). Also the older model which I also have, the VX2250MH (which has 5 ms vs 2 ms for this one) had better buttons for the menu/switching sources. The buttons on that are on the front bottom right and they are touch sensitive buttons, not physical buttons under the monitor. Slight inconvenience but I have no idea why theyd revert to harder-to-reach buttons. The bezel is much thinner on this model than that older model as well. Overall I love this monitor besides those two minor annoyances.

I set this monitor up next to my Viewsonic VX2235wm which is about 10 years old. My older monitor is the clear winner. LED is one of the tech worlds latest buzzwords but Im not buying it as an improvement in overall technology. Yes, LED monitors use about 25% less energy than older CCFL LCDs, but is saving that little bit of energy really worth it if your picture is worse than 10 year old technology?. By the way, the change from CCFL to LED is a very small change in energy conservation when you compare the change that took place when CRT monitors were replaced with LCD technology. That was a huge step in the right direction. The LED light in this monitor as well as most LED monitors is in the blue spectrum, the CCFL light in my old monitor is more in the yellow spectrum. If you look carefully at most LED based monitors, you will notice that there is a slight blue tint to the entire screen (but I suppose it depends on the monitor). Also, LED produces light in one direction, so its good for track lighting and spotlights, but not for illuminating your entire home. Since its directional, your viewing angle is worse than older CCFL lighted monitors. Like the VX2452MH, my laptop has an LED monitor in it and it has a blue tint as well and it only looks good when you are looking at it straight on. If you like the LED lights that now light up much of the highways (with the slight blue tint), youll be very happy with any LED blue spectrum based monitor. Personally, when Im working close to a computer monitor, I want dull, accurate, flat color with no glare. The blue spectrum light used in a lot of the LED technology just seems to make the blues so bright, its harder to tolerate than my older monitor. If you are going from a crappy monitor to the new LED technology, you wont know any better. If you are getting into the LED technology to watch TV, you probably wont complain about the technology as well. But compare LED technology to the old stuff and you will wonder why LED? Just to save 25% on your computer monitor bill? Not worth it in my opinion. I just purchased another used VX2235wm for $75.00 and will continue to use the old CCFL LCDs until something better comes along.

As a digital artist and a gamer, choosing a good monitor is important. I have heard good things about the brand, and this monitor has not disappointed. The color is exactly what it should be (this is after calibration, of course) and the brightness can be adjusted quite extensively. Also, as a gamer, the monitor resolution is important so that the image is not distorted or limited. a 1080x1920 resolution is typically the highest resolution games support, even some games that go back over five years. The Game Mode feature is fantastic. I have had instances with very dark areas in games that this has helped me in, and it works well. Now for the bad. First off, the speakers are terrible for anything. I simply do not even bother using them at all. The included stand is a little bit wobbly, but you would need a very shaky desk for it to be a problem. Finally, the menu for adjusting monitor setting (this is built into the monitor, not part of Microsoft Windows) is difficult to navigate, and I have run into instances where I get stuck in a sub-menu and cannot navigate out. Also, the buttons are sharp and not very pleasant to press, but its easy to tell which button is which. All in all, I think this was a great purchase. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I would like to see ViewSonic build upon the results of this monitor and further improve it, but I dont think Ill be in the market for a new monitor for a while, unless of course I get a second one to duel-screen with, in which case, Ill probably get another of these.
