> 3 dayGreat second monitor to use with a laptop. I like that it has speakers included for an easy docking station setup with fewer parts.

> 3 dayI recently started downsizing from a Mac Pro to a Mac Mini and available ports are a concern so my 27 Apple Cinema Display had to go. With so many models and so many gripes, the selection seemed to be a no-win headache. This actually fit the criteria - hdmi, integrated speakers, size, IPS or near, relatively inexpensive, and decent response rate. Its hard to make comparisons with the Cinema display but I thought I wanted IPS. The vertical viewing angle on this seemed to be similar to an IPS screen. The horizontal viewing angle is smaller and dims when you are past the +/-45 degrees of center. Its not much of an issue as a computer monitor. The glow of the backlight at the bottom is noticeable but not much. I seem to have lucked out with no dead pixels that I can see. I wasnt expecting much of the speakers other than that they work. The hdmi and integrated speakers make for a tidy setup. The monitor can be tilted but the best adjustment is the stack of books or boxes to bring the monitor to the right height. I had bought a similar model for my brother and had the hardest time adjusting the contrast and brightness for him until I realized the contrast and brightness were swapped. Maybe its a tomato/tomatoe type thing but contrast actually controls the brightness of the display and this model is no different. As I started adjusting the display for the settings that tomcat9 listed, I remembered the quirk about the contrast and brightness. I finally settled on contrast of 60 and brightness of 100. It still wasnt quite right so I pulled up the color profile in the Mac Mini and it had selected HD-709A. I tried the calibration and the biggest difference came with the gamma adjustment to 2.2. Everything seems to be good now. I havent tried out the response rate yet but I think it will live up to its billing. It is a light display but at this price, I dont think you should expect an aluminum case.

> 3 dayMy model: ViewSonic VX2452MH 24 1080p Using for ~4 months. I needed a second monitor to extend my laptops display. For work use, I use it as a second monitor for coding and browsign internet. For home use, I use is to play games, watch sports, TV/movies/Netflix. This is my main entertainemnt display because I dont use the TV that much and this is convenient in my room. I bought this after a lot of research on TN, IPS, VA, etc. panels. TN panels have a complaint of having untrue colors at a wider angle like more than 160 degrees. Even though I am not using it at that wide angle, I dont see any color distortion. Resolution is really good (1920 x 1080) and its really nice to have a lot of space for multiple windows instead of switching. Its very easy to assemble too; it took about 10 minutes. Great monitor overall and worth the price (I bought it at $120). I would recommend it for any use case since there is a 22 and 27 variant too.

Greater than one weekThis screen is lightweight, easy to move for best viewing position, and works with my MAC. The color quality may not be as good as my MAC monitor, but it is much less expensive.

Greater than one weekGreat choice I did. Exactly what I needed. The size, the image brightness, the resolutions, its great. Also, the buttons are not touch. I hate touch screen buttons. It has VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. It comes with VGA and DVI cables. Get an Amazons Choice 6 feet HDMI cable if needed. I am expecting mine to arrive soon. The base is great. I hate these retractable base/stand monitors. Cons: The built-in speakers are low. But thats not a biggie, I use Bluetooth and wired headphones. Update: Affordable price. The buttons are below the monitor not in front and its cool. The screen luminescence is bright enough for daylight, and not so bright for when its dark, but is not recommended using bright screens on a dark room. It causes health consequences. I can pass the audio via HDMI to the internal speakers. Working good so far, since May 2018. Will update if anything comes up.

> 3 dayI recently needed to replace my Viewsonic 20 CRT monitors on my everyday computer setup. Ive had 20-21 monitors for nearly 20 years and dual 20 or 21s for the last 12-13. Got use to all the desktop real estate and then couldnt live without it. One of mine developed a power supply problem and theres no one around to fix them anymore. I still prefer CRT monitors, the color is richer and theres much more flexibility. I was reluctantly going to flat panels. I bought a pair of 20 Viewsonic LCDs thinking it would be the same as what I had. I did a ton of research before I bought, this was my first flat panel purchase and I got up to speed on all the specs to compare and look for. The one thing I didnt see anything about was how to buy when you are switching from CRTs to LCDs. Especially if you are already using big monitors. The 20 Viewsonics had good specs, but where not in the ball park with my 20 CRTs. Didnt come close to the same resolution. I returned them and got a pair of these 24 Viewsonics. Going to the 24 LCDs from the 20 CRTs is close to a vertical upgrade. Same width resolution as the CRT, less height, but thats the thing about LCDs. They have a fixed resolution to run them at, and they wont go over that, even if your video card can. Its nice to not have million pound monitors to deal with, (~60, actually), and they are crisper for most of the stuff I do on this system. Certainly a good monitor for the price. Especially considering I paid $1000 for the first 21 CRT I bought, and it was used. If you are upgrading from large CRTs,you definitely need to look at the resolution limit of the LCDs and I recommend you go bigger if you want a comparable setup when youre done.

> 3 dayI dont see many reviews from Mac users on monitors, so heres one for you. I just received this monitor this morning and have it connected to my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, late 2013) with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB video card running El Capitan. I initially connected my monitor via the Mini Displayport to HDMI cable I bought from Monoprice a year or so ago. I do a lot of touring and corporate video work and its the same cable I use to connect my Mac into many video switchers that have an HDMI input, so its been a solid cable in a variety of setups. With this monitor, it wouldnt work properly at 1080p (red dots everywhere) and at 1080i it wasnt syncing properly and was shifting up and down (jittering, is probably more accurate). I grabbed a standard HDMI cable out of my gear bag and plugged that in instead and its working great at 1080p. It still has the same issue at 1080i, with the rapid up and down shifting. However, at 1080p its perfect. Unlikely some people who have complained about this monitor being way too bright, tis actually dark (on the Natural setting) than my rMBP screen at 100% and only slightly brighter than my late 2009 21.5 iMac that its also sitting next to. I havent had a chance to test with VGA or DVI yet since I dont have the correct Apple adapters at home. Response Time is best set to Standard for normal use. When I set it to Advanced or Ultra Fast I get trailing on my mouse cursor. I have Dynamic Contrast off. Contrast is set to 60 and Brightness is set to 100. My home office has natural light filtered through blinds with the windows behind my screens rather than behind me, so there isnt really any glare. I dont see any reflection on the screen of the lamp that is behind me like I can on my iMac screen. The color matching seeing fairly close to my MacBook Pro screen. When I set my background to solid white or solid black, they are both fairly even and I dont see any bleeding or obvious color issues.

> 3 dayIve had it about a month now and its fantastic! My six year old 25 HANNspree display was suffering from mainboard related issues that would have cost around the same as this price to fix, so buying a new one instead was a no-brainer for me. Being a PC repair technician I have four wide screen displays in my work room here and this one is the one thats used the most... the one inch downgrade to this 24 isnt noticeable at all but the clarity of this one blows the other three and the defective one it replaced away! And as usual, Amazon had it at my door exactly when they said it would be here and in perfect shape! It was out of the box and brilliantly displaying on my Windows 7 system in less than 20 minutes. It initially showed up in Device manager as Generic Display, but installing the driver files included on the CD remedied that in no time... the instructions on how to do that are on the included CD. NOTE: installing the driver files is NOT necessary and provides no benefit other than showing the correct make & model. I read every single review and question on several comparable displays before purchasing this one and Id like to clarify a couple things that had me a little confused from conflicting answers by other reviewers on this display. This display DOES tilt forward & back - the base does not swivel or extend up & down. Some folks complained about the base being really flimsy... I find it just as sturdy as any other displays plastic base myself. The screen is non-glare with a matte finish, only the black plastic casing around the screen is high gloss. I have direct sunlight shining straight onto mine for about an hour every morning and the reflection from the CASE practically blinds me, but the screen itself remains perfectly clear without any distortion or glare at all. It has connections for basic VGA, DVI and HDMI. A DVI to DVI plus a standard VGA cable are provided in the box (No HDMI cable included). It also has connections for the internal speakers and a headphone jack. I had to adjust NOTHING on this display at all using the provided DVI to DVI cable. I have not tried the HDMI connection but several reviewers complained about this display being far too bright when first connected... that may be the case using HDMI but I didnt experience that using the DVI cable that came with it. The clarity of the built-in speakers is OK for basic use but certainly nothing close to high quality. This isnt a problem for me as I have a surround sound system, but the headphone jack does come in handy at times. The On-Screen-Display and the accompanying buttons on the front arent as confusing as some people make them out to be... but I DID read the manual on the CD before playing around with them. Id suggest to the folks that had problems to do likewise, its relatively basic stuff. Other than the power button theres only four others with icons above them and theyre all pretty much self-explanatory. If I can think of anything else or have a change in my satisfaction level I will surely update this review, but at the moment Im more than satisfied with this display and I not only would recommend it to somebody else... I have. To my mother-in-law... and thats not something Id normally do :)
