> 3 dayI have no idea what happened. I just came home one day and noticed, while plugged in, the orange light wasnt on. Ive tested several outlets but nothing turns it on any more. Theres also no clear way to disassemble and see if its a PSU issue.

Greater than one weekEdit: Thanks to Cliffs comment about image quality being affected if game mode was turned on. His hint of using the UP Arrow to turn off game mode was useful. I tend not to read manuals, but poke around in settings to change what I need to. I didnt find game mode using my usual method. Clicking just the Up arrow by itself would have never happened with my approach. The image improved a noticeable amount. Better smoothness, less grainy characteristics. Now the picture quality is better for us. Color saturation still is not quite as nice as my old Samsung, but image quality improved to nearly where I was hoping it would be. I had hoped that it being a newer monitor it would exceed my old monitor to a degree. It still does not. I would give it 3.5 stars based on the improvement from switching off game mode. Sound is still sub-par for me. -------------------- Original (modified for greater clarity): We bought this since my wifes 23 samsung inexplicably started buzzing and shutting itself down after 20 seconds each time it was turned on. That monitor had ~2048x1152 native resolution roughly. It had no built in speakers, but we had some cheap computer speakers from the 90s hooked up to the machine. The good. This particular monitor does have HDMI right next to the DVI and VGA connector. Others have stated in their reviews that it doesnt so perhaps the models changed slightly? Ours came with a plugin for HDMI, but no cable. There is a DVI cable and a VGA cable. We have an older Mac Mini on this new monitor so we dont need an HDMI for it anyhow. Comparison: 1. We got the samsung 6 years ago for $260 vs $140 for the Viewsonic. The samsung was at the time one of the cheapest monitors one could get for a 23 and cheaper than most 22 models of the day. 2. This is a very lightweight monitor. Our Samsung weighed easily 2x as much. The samsung had a nice weighted base which had considerable height adjustment and tilt adjustment. This Viewsonic has a very cheap flimsy base with no adjustments. 3. The samsung had better resolution, but the Viewsonic has standard HD resolution which isnt bad. The samsung had much better color saturation. The Viewsonic seems have weaker color saturation even after all the adjusting I can do. The Viewsonic has better brightness but the Viewsonic seems to be much grainier. 4. The samsung had no sound; The view sonic has sound.. but it sounds about like it is coming out of a smartphone. Very thin sound. My wife says it is ok meaning she will deal with the thin tinny sound rather than have the big clunky speakers and wiring all over her double computer filled desk. It might be ok or she may end up back with the old speakers. In my view I couldnt last a day with that racket. Why only 3 stars? Overall I am not impressed with this monitor. Build is definitely cheap and flimsy compared to the old Samsung. Picture quality is worse overall. The picture seems to have weak color saturation and be quite noticeably grainy. Not sure why since the resolution should be similar. The sound is flat out awful to me. It cant be adjusted height wise which I knew from the other reviews, but the base is even chintzier than I could have imagined. It should hold up, since nobody really messes with a monitor when it is sitting there, but it will be interesting to see if my wife needs to throw some books under it to raise the height. You kind of have to stare down at the monitor since it is also a very low base. Long term, I am not sure how comfortable staring down at a monitor will feel. My old samsung was a very cheap monitor for that era (far less expensive than anything 22 or 23 at the time), and yet it overall was in a class above this one. However, the samsung didnt last which is the ultimate statement on quality. I am hoping this monitor will last as almost all of my other ones have.... more than 10 years. Monitors should definitely last at least 10 years in my view. Then they should be recycled for the rare earth elements which are being used up by producing cheap junky screens that seem to break more easily compared to older models.

> 3 dayI ordered thirty of these monitors. The monitors are fine; theyre beautiful, exactly what we expected, and we have had no problems with them yet. The problem was that it took nine days to get them all because Amazon shipped them using USPS. The delivery date kept getting put off. I had frustrating calls to Support for help, and finally got a local USPS Supervisor on the phone. He told me they couldnt deliver on time because there was no room on the truck. Finally, over a two day period they were finally delivered. We have these issues often with USPS, and never with FedEx or UPS. Clearly USPS does not have the capacity to manage the additional load that Amazon has entrusted to them.

> 3 dayGreat second monitor to use with a laptop. I like that it has speakers included for an easy docking station setup with fewer parts.

> 3 dayI recently needed to replace my Viewsonic 20 CRT monitors on my everyday computer setup. Ive had 20-21 monitors for nearly 20 years and dual 20 or 21s for the last 12-13. Got use to all the desktop real estate and then couldnt live without it. One of mine developed a power supply problem and theres no one around to fix them anymore. I still prefer CRT monitors, the color is richer and theres much more flexibility. I was reluctantly going to flat panels. I bought a pair of 20 Viewsonic LCDs thinking it would be the same as what I had. I did a ton of research before I bought, this was my first flat panel purchase and I got up to speed on all the specs to compare and look for. The one thing I didnt see anything about was how to buy when you are switching from CRTs to LCDs. Especially if you are already using big monitors. The 20 Viewsonics had good specs, but where not in the ball park with my 20 CRTs. Didnt come close to the same resolution. I returned them and got a pair of these 24 Viewsonics. Going to the 24 LCDs from the 20 CRTs is close to a vertical upgrade. Same width resolution as the CRT, less height, but thats the thing about LCDs. They have a fixed resolution to run them at, and they wont go over that, even if your video card can. Its nice to not have million pound monitors to deal with, (~60, actually), and they are crisper for most of the stuff I do on this system. Certainly a good monitor for the price. Especially considering I paid $1000 for the first 21 CRT I bought, and it was used. If you are upgrading from large CRTs,you definitely need to look at the resolution limit of the LCDs and I recommend you go bigger if you want a comparable setup when youre done.

> 3 dayThe monitor looks wonderful and was calibrated very well at default settings. Pros: 1080p Very good contrast, bright whites and dark blacks. 2ms response time price Comes with a VGA and DVI cable Cons: The documentation for the settings is lackluster: What is the deal with the Response time menu settings for Standard, Advanced, or Ultra Fast? Why does the user color setting reset to the default every time the monitor goes through a signal change/turns on? The horrible ghosting that occurs if you have any Response time set that isnt Standard. Setting it to Ultra Fast produces atrocious amounts of ghosting. 60Hz Refresh rate The vertical viewing angle. (though this is a problem with LCDs in general) The stand could use a little improvement Overall 4/5 Even though the list of cons is quite large I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying this monitor. Everything looks wonderful, and it is better than I was expecting for the price that it is.

> 3 dayI bought this monitor to use with my MacBook Pro, which is running MacOS Sierra. So happy with this purchase!!! Installation was simply. I plugged my monitor in, using the HDMI port. It was immediately recognized by my Mac. I only had to check the mirror box in the System Preferences and I was up and running. I didnt have to mess with the resolution settings, at all. It works, looks beautiful, and is just wide enough to easily allow for two pages /documents on your screen, without using the split screen feature. I usually buy ViewSonic monitors, for my employer, so I naturally gravitated toward this brand. The monitors at my office usually last a very long time. After reading reviews, I found that ViewSonic is one of the best and cheapest brands for monitors. Im very happy with my purchase. Keep in mind that if you are plugging this into a MacBook, you will probably need a mini-display port, to HDMI cord. I bought mine on Amazon for $10. It is the Benfei 4k Mini Displayport to HDMI 6 cable; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0146N8BDO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are other ones to choose from, but this one works easily. It is a cord, not an adapter. Just plug the HDMI end (big end) into your monitor and the mini-display port (small end) into your MacBook. There are other brands, but this one had good reviews and seems to be a good quality product.

> 3 dayI really like this monitor. I needed a monitor with integrated speaker, because I dont have external speakers with my computer (and I dont want them). So I was concerned when I read some of the reviews that said the sound was not good. I havent found that to be the case at all. In fact, I think the sound is a bit better than my old monitor. I did discover that the factory setting was only at 50%, but I raised it up to 100% with the button on the bottom of the monitor, and of course I can still adjust the sound in the normal way with the speaker icon, so Im happy with the sound. Im also happy with the size of the monitor and with the image clarity, etc. And setting it up was super easy, which is important to me, because Im no techie. So this monitor is working out very well for me. Glad I bought it.
