> 3 dayI was so pleased with the first one, I bought a second. Both came up with no adjustments, drivers, or other manipulation needed. Kudos to Viewsonic.

> 3 dayIve had it about a month now and its fantastic! My six year old 25 HANNspree display was suffering from mainboard related issues that would have cost around the same as this price to fix, so buying a new one instead was a no-brainer for me. Being a PC repair technician I have four wide screen displays in my work room here and this one is the one thats used the most... the one inch downgrade to this 24 isnt noticeable at all but the clarity of this one blows the other three and the defective one it replaced away! And as usual, Amazon had it at my door exactly when they said it would be here and in perfect shape! It was out of the box and brilliantly displaying on my Windows 7 system in less than 20 minutes. It initially showed up in Device manager as Generic Display, but installing the driver files included on the CD remedied that in no time... the instructions on how to do that are on the included CD. NOTE: installing the driver files is NOT necessary and provides no benefit other than showing the correct make & model. I read every single review and question on several comparable displays before purchasing this one and Id like to clarify a couple things that had me a little confused from conflicting answers by other reviewers on this display. This display DOES tilt forward & back - the base does not swivel or extend up & down. Some folks complained about the base being really flimsy... I find it just as sturdy as any other displays plastic base myself. The screen is non-glare with a matte finish, only the black plastic casing around the screen is high gloss. I have direct sunlight shining straight onto mine for about an hour every morning and the reflection from the CASE practically blinds me, but the screen itself remains perfectly clear without any distortion or glare at all. It has connections for basic VGA, DVI and HDMI. A DVI to DVI plus a standard VGA cable are provided in the box (No HDMI cable included). It also has connections for the internal speakers and a headphone jack. I had to adjust NOTHING on this display at all using the provided DVI to DVI cable. I have not tried the HDMI connection but several reviewers complained about this display being far too bright when first connected... that may be the case using HDMI but I didnt experience that using the DVI cable that came with it. The clarity of the built-in speakers is OK for basic use but certainly nothing close to high quality. This isnt a problem for me as I have a surround sound system, but the headphone jack does come in handy at times. The On-Screen-Display and the accompanying buttons on the front arent as confusing as some people make them out to be... but I DID read the manual on the CD before playing around with them. Id suggest to the folks that had problems to do likewise, its relatively basic stuff. Other than the power button theres only four others with icons above them and theyre all pretty much self-explanatory. If I can think of anything else or have a change in my satisfaction level I will surely update this review, but at the moment Im more than satisfied with this display and I not only would recommend it to somebody else... I have. To my mother-in-law... and thats not something Id normally do :)

> 3 dayI needed to replace an old monitor for a dual monitor set-up, and was concerned with materials & construction quality and a defect-free display. So far, so good. No dead pixels or other defects noted, default settings out-of-the-box were fine, and there were no problems with monitor detection. Do be aware that theres VGA, DVI & HDMI but no DisplayPort connector (prevalent on graphics cards these days... To use as #2 monitor I needed a DP-to-HDMI cable).

> 3 dayTo put this review into perspective, I purchased this monitor to replace a 6 year old HP LP2065 20 LCD monitor which is not HDCP compliant. On installing this monitor, I noted that the image was bright and lacking in contrast. Brightness and contrast are adjustable in the manual mode in the menu. Adjustments made the image better, but was still lacking in black level performance. Fine text was definitely softer than that on the HP monitor. When scrolling text, a yellow smear was visible trailing the text. This effect was mostly eliminated when switching to the Game mode. However, switching to this mode sets the brightness and contrast to fixed values. They are no longer manually adjustable. I had attended a wedding and took pictures with my digital camera. I processed the raw files and adjusted them the best I could based on the monitors image. I had trouble getting them to look right. The color accuracy of this monitor is definitely sub-par. When I printed some of these pictures, they were dark and dull looking, not at all how they looked on the screen. I put back the old HP monitor and looked at the processed images. They were dark and dull on the screen, exactly how they printed. I reprocessed the raw files and now have good looking prints. At this point, I packed up the monitor for return. It cost me just under $15 to ship it back. Lesson learned. Here is a summary: Pros HDCP compliant Inexpensive Light weight Bright image No hot or dead pixels Good horizontal viewing angle Comes with a complete set of cables Cons No height adjustment Mediocre black level Poor vertical viewing angle Inaccurate colors Scroll smear Very limited image adjustments Unsuitable for photographic image processing Soft fine text This monitor would be suitable for non image critical applications or gaming where its fast response and bright image would be a plus. As for me, Ill be shopping for something better.

> 3 dayPros 1. Worked great out of the box 2. menu system intuitive 3. nice style 4. power light easy to see, but dispersed below viewsonic symbol so it is not annoying in any way. 5. driver set up was easy 6. device/screen always cool to the touch. Cons Havent found any yet, this is a great desk monitor for everyone who doesnt care that colors are perfect, but most cant tell the difference anyhow. Edit: Been using for a while, there is massive interference in the headphone jack relay. Since I own two of these monitors, the interference is highly noticeable on both. Basically, you just cant use the headphone jack relay. Not only does it not transfer the audio volume well, but anything past 40% volume in the monitor setup wizard creates pulsating interference. 4/5 because of audio problem and it just doesnt make sense to put a monitor without perfect colors as a 5/5.

> 3 dayEdit: Thanks to Cliffs comment about image quality being affected if game mode was turned on. His hint of using the UP Arrow to turn off game mode was useful. I tend not to read manuals, but poke around in settings to change what I need to. I didnt find game mode using my usual method. Clicking just the Up arrow by itself would have never happened with my approach. The image improved a noticeable amount. Better smoothness, less grainy characteristics. Now the picture quality is better for us. Color saturation still is not quite as nice as my old Samsung, but image quality improved to nearly where I was hoping it would be. I had hoped that it being a newer monitor it would exceed my old monitor to a degree. It still does not. I would give it 3.5 stars based on the improvement from switching off game mode. Sound is still sub-par for me. -------------------- Original (modified for greater clarity): We bought this since my wifes 23 samsung inexplicably started buzzing and shutting itself down after 20 seconds each time it was turned on. That monitor had ~2048x1152 native resolution roughly. It had no built in speakers, but we had some cheap computer speakers from the 90s hooked up to the machine. The good. This particular monitor does have HDMI right next to the DVI and VGA connector. Others have stated in their reviews that it doesnt so perhaps the models changed slightly? Ours came with a plugin for HDMI, but no cable. There is a DVI cable and a VGA cable. We have an older Mac Mini on this new monitor so we dont need an HDMI for it anyhow. Comparison: 1. We got the samsung 6 years ago for $260 vs $140 for the Viewsonic. The samsung was at the time one of the cheapest monitors one could get for a 23 and cheaper than most 22 models of the day. 2. This is a very lightweight monitor. Our Samsung weighed easily 2x as much. The samsung had a nice weighted base which had considerable height adjustment and tilt adjustment. This Viewsonic has a very cheap flimsy base with no adjustments. 3. The samsung had better resolution, but the Viewsonic has standard HD resolution which isnt bad. The samsung had much better color saturation. The Viewsonic seems have weaker color saturation even after all the adjusting I can do. The Viewsonic has better brightness but the Viewsonic seems to be much grainier. 4. The samsung had no sound; The view sonic has sound.. but it sounds about like it is coming out of a smartphone. Very thin sound. My wife says it is ok meaning she will deal with the thin tinny sound rather than have the big clunky speakers and wiring all over her double computer filled desk. It might be ok or she may end up back with the old speakers. In my view I couldnt last a day with that racket. Why only 3 stars? Overall I am not impressed with this monitor. Build is definitely cheap and flimsy compared to the old Samsung. Picture quality is worse overall. The picture seems to have weak color saturation and be quite noticeably grainy. Not sure why since the resolution should be similar. The sound is flat out awful to me. It cant be adjusted height wise which I knew from the other reviews, but the base is even chintzier than I could have imagined. It should hold up, since nobody really messes with a monitor when it is sitting there, but it will be interesting to see if my wife needs to throw some books under it to raise the height. You kind of have to stare down at the monitor since it is also a very low base. Long term, I am not sure how comfortable staring down at a monitor will feel. My old samsung was a very cheap monitor for that era (far less expensive than anything 22 or 23 at the time), and yet it overall was in a class above this one. However, the samsung didnt last which is the ultimate statement on quality. I am hoping this monitor will last as almost all of my other ones have.... more than 10 years. Monitors should definitely last at least 10 years in my view. Then they should be recycled for the rare earth elements which are being used up by producing cheap junky screens that seem to break more easily compared to older models.

> 3 dayFor the price, the picture is nice and I have no dead pixels. However, the sound is so dismal that were it not for the deeply discounted price I paid, I would return it. It is sad to say it would not be an exaggeration to say the sound is _literally_ no better than a string attached to a tin can; (really... literally). It is is _that_ bad. For that reason, I decided to not use the HDMI cable from my computer to the screen; (which, when used, give you no choice but to use the internal tin-can-speaker system). Instead, I attached my Digital DVI cable between my computer and the Viewsonic Display, which allowed me to use an external speaker. I was previously using my (20 year old) top of the line Dell Display which had an optional sound bar attached to the bottom with two small screws. I removed the sound bar and now have it laying behind this Viewsonic Display. *NOW* the quality of the sound matches the quality of the picture. [Short Version]: If you must use this Viewsonic Display (or any Viewsonic model within this price range), along with an HDMI cable, be prepared for _horrific_ sound in which my analogy of a string and a tin can is extremely accurate. The problem with using HDMI is that you have no choice but to use the internal tin-can sound system. NOTE: I tried a few of the Viewsonic models in this price range. Apparently, anything under $150 gets you a string and a tin can for a sound system. It truly is pathetic, and were it not for this issue Id give the Display 5 stars... especially for the price.

> 3 dayWhat I was looking for was a decent monitor with good blacks and clear text even when the brightness & contrast are turned up. I like a relatively bright screen, but I want my black background to look like the monitor is turned off. I use Photoshop for solely for fixing up photos of my kids, so Im not professional. I causally play FPS games once an a while, but Im not hard-core. I mostly use my machine for coding, word documents, etc. I had the following monitors hooked up all at once: an Acer K242HL-LED, an ASUS VN247H-P and the View Sonic VX2452MH. They are all the same price range give-or-take a fist full of dollars. The Acer was terrible. The blacks were mostly gray and the text looked terrible. The ASUS was much better than the Acer, but it was hard to get good blacks and good contrast. I spent some time messing around with the settings but never had a satisfactory configuration. I was about to write how bad the ghosting is and was surprised it was so bad on a 2ms monitor -- particularly bad when you drag a window around with dark text on a blue-ish background (think Office 2003/SSMS). Then I remembered seeing an option for Response Time in the settings. I just changed it from the default of Ultra Fast to Standard and there is no ghosting at all. The ViewSonic is not as nice as the previous version (which Ive paired this one with). The buttons for the OSD are physical buttons where as the previous version used a touch-sensitive bevel. The ViewSonic is by far the winner of these three and is a good buy once youve configured it correctly.

> 3 dayThis monitor is my go-to for playing twitch shooters like Call of Duty. It has excellent colors and contrast. The response time makes a difference over a TV with huge input lag. While Im not scientific about the color reproduction, I thought watching movies looked great on this monitor, with deep blacks and vivid colors. My only issue is the game mode is not customizable at all and essentially makes the screen super bright which truthfully hurts my eyes. I dont really see the point in using game mode as there was no discernible difference to the input lag (at least for me). Also the older model which I also have, the VX2250MH (which has 5 ms vs 2 ms for this one) had better buttons for the menu/switching sources. The buttons on that are on the front bottom right and they are touch sensitive buttons, not physical buttons under the monitor. Slight inconvenience but I have no idea why theyd revert to harder-to-reach buttons. The bezel is much thinner on this model than that older model as well. Overall I love this monitor besides those two minor annoyances.

> 3 dayI got this to do some light gaming which it is good for. I had to make a few adjustments to get it to my liking but it plays breath of the wild, uncharted 4 updated version, ratchet and clank, and the Guardians game very well. As a matter of fact just about all of my PS5 and Switch games look good. But I also use this monitor to hook up my phone or tablet and go into DEX mode. It looks great and gives me a beautiful desktop computer. I think there are probably better gaming monitors out there but for what I use it for, its great. No dead pixels and beautiful colors. I use it for Disney+ and Youtube TV and both look awesome. When I play youtube vids at 60 fps they look awesome. Overall just a great purchase.
