> 3 dayFirst off this monitor has stunning detail and clarity in all regards. Text is bright, defined and easy to read. The Video on this monitor looks as good or better than it does on my 42 Samsung LED HD TV. The games I play also look better on this monitor than the other monitors I own (which include these 22 and 23 inch monitors. ViewSonic VA2246M, a HP 2159M and an Acer G236HL. The refresh rate at 60Hz could be better, and compared to an old school CRT it seems to slow frame rate a little more than I care for, but the frame rate was measured from a basic low end PC, with an Intel 2000 onboard graphics adapter, and can be resolved by a simple graphics card upgrade (with a GeForce 630 the frame rate is very acceptable for my purposes). The addition of an HDMI input is a nice addition and is a useful addition compared to other monitors in this price range. (HDMI/DVI/VGA and audio inputs are easily accessible). After setting this monitor up, and comparing it to the other monitors Im using. The color and detail, and contrast is what has really impressed me. At a price near the $160.00 mark, this monitor would seem to priced in the lower echelon of desktop monitors (let alone multimedia units). But its performance seems to reach well above other monitors in this price range. I did play with the color balance a little and it helped to create a more realistic palate when browsing photos and video. But right out of the box the colors were brighter, with more detail than on the other monitors Ive mentioned above. None of those monitors had the crispness in the whites, the deep blacks, or depth of color this monitor has, and none are even close after making a few minor adjustments in the monitors menu pannel. As with most monitors the panel of adjustments are easy to reach and use, and the Intel display adjustments allow for fast easy onscreen preview when adjusting this monitor (which did not require a great deal of tuning to satisfy my needs. In addition to the great color, detail and contrast, other options this monitor offers could make it attractive for many buyers. 1. The game mode option adjust contrast, and might or might not be something I use in the future, but its there and might come in useful. 2. The mounting options give the monitor some flexibility and at this size I could see mounting it on a wall for various uses. 3. Built in 2 watt SRS Audio might be attractive in many environments. 4 The weight, it is very lite for a 24 monitor which makes handling quick and easy. 5. Streaming Video from YouTube - Amazon Prime and Netflix on this monitor is as good as it gets. As I said the monitor looks as good or better than my Samsung HD TV. (unlike the other monitors I own this monitor re-creates a true HD experience. Im sure there are other things to consider, and these few might or might not be on everyones list, but at least a couple were on mine. Over all Not owning a monitor over $200.00 I cannot really compare this unit to one of the higher rated displays. But rating it at a monitor closer to $150.00 mark than the $200.00 price range I can say my initial reaction is that if your thinking about its a very good bet. The assembly should take maybe two minutes if your slow (meaning fast and easy). The resulting construction feels solid and it sits square without wobble on my desk. I did not try the speakers, since I have a set that I enjoy and at 2 watts the speakers were not a part of my purchasing decision. I was hoping for at least good color and detail and I believe that this monitor does an excellent job and surpasses my hopes in those regards. Even attached as a basic workstation monitor, this monitor expands the basic productivity that my other monitors provide in that regard. The actual display at 23.6 is large enough to create a smooth easy transition between multiple tasks... However this monitor goes far beyond a basic workstation unit and does a very good to excellent job in multimedia and gaming situations as well (matched with a PC designed for gaming I think it would be a very good choice as an entry level gaming monitor as well). Finally Im Extremely happy with this purchase, and would recommend it as a great choice for an everyday 24 display.

> 3 dayI purchased this as the display component to a new PC build I was working on, which ended up never coming to fruition, and as such, I returned it. However, I still have some things to say. When I was looking for a solid, affordable 1080p monitor, this model immediately caught my eye, namely for its relatively high average rating and its above par response time (2ms vs the standard 5). I decided to buy it after reading several strongly positive reviews, praising its brightness, color reproduction accuracy as well as its viewing angles, the descriptions of which made this display seem a little too good to be true. As it turns out, I was mostly right. It came very well packaged, and with a plethora of cables to boot (DVI, VGA, and aux), which gave me a great first impression. As I set it up (which was a very straightforward process), I immediately noticed that the plastic bezel styling appeared somewhat gaudy and notably cheap, which was the first aspect of many in this item to disappoint. I decided I could live with this, so long as the quality of the screen justified it. Sadly. I cannot say that it did. After hooking it up to my machine via DVI, I was instantly let down by the viewing angles, which were so bad that any conceivable position I could take in front of the panel left one or more sizable portions of the screen incongruently colored and lit. I tried the other cable configurations, with the same result across all - utter mediocrity. The brightness was also a fairly large let-down, being decent at best in certain color modes, to downright pitiful in others (sRGB). This was not well complemented by the surprisingly acceptable response time, which, at 2ms, left no noticeable artifact ghosting on screen, and made for a more or less smooth feeling PC usage experience. Oddly, the speakers were surprisingly decent, with pretty nice volume levels and above average tonal range, although their positioning on the rear of the monitor made the sound seem rather distant at times. Verdict: For the price, I would certainly recommend looking for something else. There are much better options available on Amazon, for the same amount, give or take $20. Not the worst display in the world, but not one I would ever want to keep.

> 3 day** UPDATE: Its not even a year since ordering this and the HDMI port is completely trashed. Have to use an HDMI to DVI converter cord. So there you have it. Not even one year and aside from it being a piece of garbage in terms of quality it doesnt hold up to daily use. Simply the worst monitor I have owned in more than thirty years. ** There is not much to say about this monitor other than it is simply terrible. I purchased it to use as a second, larger monitor for use with my MacBook Pro when doing video editing and daily work use. Where to begin. Colors are so far off out of the box ViewSonic should be embarrassed. Days of fiddling got them nearly right, but still quite noticeably off. Next is the clarity. Text is horrible. Jagged and blotchy with castings all around each letter. The speaker is weak, too weak to even bother with. Plenty of in-monitor speakers out there that sound a thousand times better. I wrote ViewSonic about all of this and got a pretty ridiculous response. Most of it had to do with Windows troubleshooting, even though I clearly stated its connected to a Mac. The end solution was a suggestion to pay to have it sent in to them for repair. Its not broken, its just garbage quality. I closed that conversation with the comment that ViewSonic used to be a premium monitor producer, but this reject should have never made it off of the drawing board. I dont understand why gamers hail this thing. I play games too, and I cant help but wonder what kind of rotten game one would be playing that would lend itself to a poor display but still be awesome. None of my games look good at all. I have an old DVI 20 Apple Cinema Display that looks far, far better than this. If it werent for the resolution restriction on my 9 year old display I would really rather use that instead. Do not get this model. It is cheaply made. You will be terribly disappointed in the quality of the picture. This is not, by any measure, a true HD monitor. It can mimic the pixel dimensions but it is far far from able to deliver the quality associated with HD.

> 3 dayDecent monitor for the price. However, the power button location makes this monitor practically useless. The power button is located in the middle of the monitor on the BACK. YUP in the middle, not on the edge or tucked just behind the edge. NOPE, almost directly in the middle of the back. So if you plan on mounting this unit on a wall mount. Forget about it. No clue what designers were thinking.

> 3 dayGood picture quality. Im using this as a third monitor on my triple monitor stand on my desk, but using it now just as a TV. I wanted to have all three monitors match in size and style. I have no complaints about the monitor itself, but the speakers are too weak to be used for a TV or for gaming. Also, the controls are not very intuitive, and the monitor does not come with a remote. You have to push a couple buttons to get to the volume control, then you have to manually exit out of the menu. Like I said, Im using it as a TV, which is not really what a straight monitor is for, so these complaints might not apply to everyone. Thats why I still gave the monitor four stars. For the price, the picture quality is great. But the speakers are weak and the button controls are not very intuitive, no matter what youre going to use this product for.

> 3 dayAs a digital artist and a gamer, choosing a good monitor is important. I have heard good things about the brand, and this monitor has not disappointed. The color is exactly what it should be (this is after calibration, of course) and the brightness can be adjusted quite extensively. Also, as a gamer, the monitor resolution is important so that the image is not distorted or limited. a 1080x1920 resolution is typically the highest resolution games support, even some games that go back over five years. The Game Mode feature is fantastic. I have had instances with very dark areas in games that this has helped me in, and it works well. Now for the bad. First off, the speakers are terrible for anything. I simply do not even bother using them at all. The included stand is a little bit wobbly, but you would need a very shaky desk for it to be a problem. Finally, the menu for adjusting monitor setting (this is built into the monitor, not part of Microsoft Windows) is difficult to navigate, and I have run into instances where I get stuck in a sub-menu and cannot navigate out. Also, the buttons are sharp and not very pleasant to press, but its easy to tell which button is which. All in all, I think this was a great purchase. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I would like to see ViewSonic build upon the results of this monitor and further improve it, but I dont think Ill be in the market for a new monitor for a while, unless of course I get a second one to duel-screen with, in which case, Ill probably get another of these.

> 3 dayGot this ViewSonic to replace an 19 Viewsonic on my main gaming system. (i7-4790, 16 gigs RAM, GTX-1060 6 gigs GDDR5 RAM) The old monitor ran at 1366x768 and I decided to go to a higher res monitor to match my new graphics card. The installation went Ok. I switched from a VGA cable which went thru a adapter to a straight DVI cable from monitor to card which was included in the box with the monitor. After hooking up all the connections, I cranked up the monitor and booted up the OS. Win 10 loaded the normal default driver that it always loads and the system booted on up. The first thing I noted was the picture seemed to be a bit washed out in appearance. I also had to change my font size in Windows from 9 to 12 so I could read the on screen text better. (Ive never had a monitor with this resolution before and I think some of my problems may be getting adjusted to the larger screen surface.) I then installed new drivers downloaded from ViewSonic that were for Win 10 64-bit as thats what I am running and install them. To my dismay this didnt seem to help out at all at first. Then after fooling around a bit I found that Win 10 had not used the drives from ViewSonic but was still using its default drivers. I switched the drivers over to the one intended for the monitor and it looked much better. I tried a few games on it and the picture was great and it really performed well here. I had gotten this monitor mainly to use on a gaming system and it really did a good job there. The only think I can say is this monitor is great in games but leave a bit to be desired when using it from the desktop. Getting the drivers right did help but the desktop picture is not quite up to the old ViewSonic 19 monitor I was using. But I must admit it come very, very, close!

Greater than one weekI originally bought this to replace an Acer SB220Q as my primary monitor and was, at first, disappointed overall. The contrast was extremely high and tuning its settings through the OSD (whose buttons were extremely sharp and cut into my fingers) didnt help at all. Colors were slightly more saturated than I feel they should have been. Viewing angle was pretty narrow and corners were dark, and coupled with the high native contrast, it was difficult to view any dark images or games. Theres a noticeable screen-door effect on plain white images. The speakers were super gutless and required the desktop audio to be cranked up to max to be audible, at which point it would lose any clarity and had no bass to it whatsoever. Its response time setting was supposed to reduce motion blur, but the tradeoff was that it added significant ghosting and choppy motion. Most importantly, it had a vignette along the right edge of the monitor that was annoying enough for me to RMA it under warranty. I received an older manufacturing date model as a replacement and the quality of the two monitors is night and day for some reason. The contrast and colors now match my other displays, including the SB220Q. I was able to get an almost 100% image match with very slight tuning of the RGB. The monitors OSD buttons are more square and blunt and dont require as much force to press. The speakers are noticeably better. The response time setting now works with no noticeable trade-off like the ghosting before and makes high-speed games look great. Unfortunately, the screen door is still there and this one also has a dark edge along the right side of the screen albeit much less noticeable, but the improvement in the color was enough to warrant me keeping it. Its on-the-fly gaming mode isnt for me as it turns the image bland, flat, and washed out in favor of lower contrast thats supposed to make it easier to see in the dark for esports or tactical games or something. I recommend this for gaming, where youre likely to not focus enough on the image quality to notice its issues, but not for creative work or art as its color and light seems to be inconsistent between units.

> 3 dayEasy to set up....knew from the reviews that the base and the stand were flimsy and will cinch it down with a couple of braces. Be aware that youll also have to order an HDMI cable if thats the way that you want to go. I didnt read the package contents when I purchased this monitor and had to have Amazon send me one (just two days). Then I set this monitor up in front of my exercise bike in order to watch movies while I work out. Other than that, all I had to do to get it working was go into my nVidia Control Panel on the computer and set my primary monitor and this monitor up as clones so that both show the same screen. The screen on this VX2452 is crisp. It even looks great when a game id being played on my computer (I run a GTX980Ti on ultra mode. I highly recommend this monitor for work or for play.

> 3 dayMy dad has this monitor for the computer in the house. I use to LOVE using his computer over mine until I made the same purchase myself. My dad has a really good computer guy ($140.00/hour). He does amazing work, but of course I can’t afford him. I’ve had amazon for years, so I try to get all of my items from Amazon vs. dealing with a direct person or going to a store. I found this on amazing, and the best part was that it was cheaper here than with my dads computer guy and with the free 2-day shipping. I actually think it was free 1-day shipping. I love that the buttons to run off are easy to use. I like how the light goes on when you turn the monitor on and goes away when it’s being turned off. The quality of the screen is very good. I would highly recommend this.
