All right I’ve been dying to have a smart home. I wasn’t quite sure where to begin even though I live in the heart of Silicon Valley. I saw these accidentally when I was looking up lightbulbs that work with your smart phone and change color. I decided to give them a go because my husband falls asleep every single night with the TV on. Its absolutely blaring and it wakes me up at about three in the morning and I can’t locate the remote. So here’s my husband snoring without a care in the world and I’m scrambling around in our king size bed and can never find remote to turn the TV off. Now all I have to say is “Hey Siri turn of tv” and go back to bed. My husband was sooooooo shocked and impressed when I was setting it up. Works amazing. Just bought 2 more for the space heater and my daughter chandelier! It’s super easy to go in the app and name the item in different rooms that you want to be able to voice command. You can also share your login on the app with different family members so that they can use their siri voice command as well. This is super simple for anybody who feels they are not high tech and it works through the app that you download in your Apple phone and it’s super simple. These make you look like a high tech genius. Super excited I got them.

These smart plugs installed very easily and work as described. I tested with Google, Alexa, and Apple. I previously bought some other smart plugs that were also for Apple but had issues. I successfully installed one of the plugs, but after a power failure the next day, the plug never worked, nor any of the other plugs, so that’s when I bought the VOCOlinc plugs. I also installed the VOCOlinc app so that I could save and manage the plugs. After you install the plugs, you should do the firmware update for each of the plugs. The app steps you through the easy update. As a note, I have an xFinity dual band router (2.4 and 5G) and did not have to perform anything special with the router for the plugs to install. The smart plugs are smart!

Got this to save having to buy three separate smart plugs, and it does the job in that sense pretty much perfectly. There are some annoying issues though: - A few other reviewers have noted this, but the LEDs really are very bright. I stuck some electrical tape over them to help dull them a bit but if you have all three on in a bedroom for example that could get quite distracting. - There is no way to physically turn on or off each plug, its all digital. If you need to be able to do that this is not the plug for you.

Once you got it figured out, operate perfectly.

I purchased 4 of these in total and use them to control room lamps. They function perfectly once installed. I had a lot of issues installing the into the Apple Home application. But after working with Leviton switches, I think the procedure that would work best is this: 1) Make sure Linkwises application is installed on your iPhone or iPad. 2) Make sure your iPhone or iPad are using the same network you plan to install the switch on..i.e. 2.4GHz network with the same name. 3) Plug the outlet into an outlet that is powered. Make sure the green light is blinking quickly. (You can do a hard reset of the outlet by holding the power button down for about 5 seconds} 4) Under Settings/Wi-Fi, let the phone find the outlet and select it to join network. This might take a minute or so to join. The green light will blink slower. 5) Once joined, open the Linkwise application and select the add Device. 6) Scan or enter the 8 digit code. 7) The application will install the switch as well as make it accessible in the Apple Home application. 8) In the Linkwise application, select Devices and then push down on the outlet you just installed. Make sure there is not a firmware update needed. If so, go ahead and update it. For what it is worth, my Router is Linksys EA7500 though if I replace, I will be going with the Ubiquiti UniFi HD 802.11ac Wave 2 Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Point (UAP-AC-HD-US) simply because it is enterprise quality and can support 500 device connections. These outlets are very fast and respond instantaneously to a command in the Apple Home application. If using Siri, it takes a little longer since it has to first communicate back to an Apple server and them back to the outlet. These outlets are only $15 and work very well. No issues whatsoever with drop outs and non-connecting.

I tried two other brands for my Home Kit setup. They failed to be responsive and reliable. The VoColink smart plugs are not easy to install but work all the time without a hitch. They are very responsive to status changes I enter on my iPhone.

I bought a couple of these and will probably have to buy more. They were very easy to set up and use. They work flawlessly with HomeKit and that was my main reason for purchasing them!

Ive used three or four different brands of smart plugs and the VOCOlinc plugs are the easiest Ive yet seen to install and configure for Apple HomeKit. Theyre far easier to set up than a brand that shall not be named but that rhymes with Nemo. I downloaded VOCOlincs app, plugged in each plug in turn and held the power button to put it in reset mode, and the app did the rest. I particularly liked the fact that the app offers to run in HomeKit mode where it does not send any of your device data to the companys own cloud service, but just connects your devices to your Home directly. No futzing around with setting up wi-fi networks and passwords, no complications at all - just scan the HomeLink setup code from within their app and youre good to go. The devices alerted me to the fact that firmware updates were available, and within a couple of minutes all of my new smart plugs had updated themselves. Again, a far easier and more automatic process than Ive found with some competing brands.

I’ve tried a lot of Smartplugs and VOCOlinc’s Smartplugs are one of the easiest to connect to their app and Google Assistant and to use and control. I like that I can use them to turn off lamps, iron, hair straighteners, and other items around the house that can use a lot of energy when on / plugged in, but not used, and cause a lot of damage if left on. I like that it’s one of only 2 smartplugs brands that are compatible with the platform of an energy company in California called OhmConnect. So when the grid needs me to use less energy, OhmConnect turns my smartplugs and the devices connected to them off for me. I save energy and OhmConnect pays me for it. Now, I connect my boys’ computers to them to help preserve the battery. We always tell them to unplug their computers after school is over, but they usually forget. Therefore, I’ve scheduled the smartplugs to turn off everyday after school is over and back on in the morning when they start school again. So whether they unplug their computers or not, we’re covered.

It was somewhat difficult to get the app to recognize the switch. In at least a couple of instances I had to factory reset the switch several times. After successful pairing and firmware update they all work fine. I M still trying to integrate them into Google Home. That process is not well documented.
