31-05-2025Im using this for additional ps4 memory. Ive only had it for 2 weeks now, but just wanted to say how easy it is to set up. I dont have a ton of games, so a 1tb external drive was enough of an upgrade to my original 500gb. Like most of you, Ive read reviews about how these things die prematurely. Ill keep my fingers crossed, but so far so good.

02-06-2025I love it! I use it for my PS4 and the added storage is great! Put 4 large memory games on this thing (The Witcher, Uncharted 4, Batman: Arkham Knight, Final Fantasy 15) and The YouTube app, which surprisingly took up a ton of space on my PS4 this and it didnt even get half way on the memory! This external hard drive is great and was easy to install. Best purchase I have mafe in a long while.

> 3 dayIm hooked on Western Digital. I have several WD drives and all of them still work. Two of my drives are over ten years old. A co-worker once lamented to me that his WD external drive stopped working. After some questioning, he admitted that he accidentally dropped it on the floor. I thought thats like blaming the glass for breaking and spilling wine on the floor when you let it slip through your fingers. Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you.

Greater than one weekI was wondering why this external hard drive was filling up so fast and after a few e-mails, I received the following answer - please be informed that WD Backup maintains a second copy of the backup for data recovery purposes. It also requires additional disk space for pruning older backups from existing backup plans. If there is a 1 TB My Passport external drive, WD Backup can only process 465 GB of data because it requires two times (2x) the disk space to create the backup plan. (465 GB + 465 GB = 930 GB). This should be clearly stated in the description (which I do not see) so that were not fooled to believe that we actually have 1TB of storage and that its actually 1/3.

> 3 dayI just got this because it was a cheap external drive with a lot of capacity. It did come pre-installed with WD backup software that may be useful if thats what you bought this for, but I personally had no need. I hooked this up, formatted it, and used it to create images of my two drives for backup purposes using Macrium Reflect. Didnt take super long to do despite the size of my drives, so this guy seems to be pretty speedy at least. Dont otherwise really have anything to complain about.

> 3 dayI like the size and reliability. Its not a stick that can get lost or misplaced. I would warn this drive is delicate and shouldnt be moved around a lot as it has moving/spinning parts inside. Would recommend getting a longer USB cable (model specific).

> 3 dayA little difficult to format in such a way that would accept both Linux files and windows files at the same time, but got it working without more than a couple hours of googling. Overall very fast and does what it needs to do. For those wondering, I used this to transfer files from a Linux computer (mint 18.3) to a Windows 10 one, and it worked after formatting it a certain way (I forget which way)

Greater than one weekGot this as a gift for my husband because we kept running out of space on our Playstation and it works great! It was really easy to hook up and everything runs great off it. Im interested in taking over to a friends house and seeing if I can play my games that I have stored on it on their machine but have yet to try it. :)

> 3 dayIt is completely useless after a couple of weeks! I use it as an extended storage device for my Ps4 and from I read from other reviews, others did this as well so I followed and turned out great as a self Christmas gift. It worked fine for the first two weeks and recently, its went straight to the trash. All my files got corrupted none the less, the My Passport took it upon itself to delete all my game application files on it. This ticked me off so much. Do keep in my i didnt touch it nor disconnect it without the proper way. So I did what anyone else would do, go through countless hours re-downloading my game application such as Gta5, WW2, Destiny 2, Fortnite, etc. So finally, after all is done, after all of my time and effort to download everything back, it plays fine for no less than two hours and kicks me out of my current game, telling me the file has been corrupt once more!!! Now it doesnt stop blinking, I cant even access it anymore with my Ps4 nor re-format it to reuse it. This is ridiculous! If you think this only happens to every other person, I thought the same, now look where I stand, dont be that person to buy this product and stand in my shoes later on after. Never will buy from this Manufacturer or Seller again! Waste of my money and time!!!!!!!

Greater than one weekI had to give up my old computer for a new one and get all my data transferred over. I needed a little help since I hadnt restored from My Passport before. A Western Digital tech really helped me out. Now I believe I have the confidence to do it myself next time and feel comfortable about it, so I bought a new one to back up my new computer. I highly recommend My Passport as an external backup.
