Ive had the Digital Only PS5 since launch day. The native HDD was full within months. I bought a 2TB and then a 5TB external. Then I learned about upgrading my memory on my PS5 with an SDD. I looked for a couple months and did some research. Everything pointed at WD_BLACK. I bought this and as advertised installation was a breeze and took less than 5 minutes. I turned on my PS5 and it immediately recognized the upgrade. After a couple of minutes and controller clicks I was off and running. If youre thinking about doing this upgrade, I personally endorse this SDD.

Just hooked this up to my PS5 and wow! Blazing speed. I literally transferred all my games to this because it will run it faster than the ssd that comes stock with the PlayStation. Only downside to this is it’s such a shame to be hiding such a beautiful drive deep inside your setup where you will never see it.

Very fast as expected. Tests confirmed the pcie gen 4 speeds. Exceedingly fast when it comes to reads and writes. Coming from a pcie gen 3 SSD you likely wont notice a big difference when it comes to gaming. You could see improvements in productivity work loads depending on the type of task. Not a great value for money when it comes to gaming as you wont see improvements proportional to the price. Overall a great product for specific circumstances.

Easy install. Only takes minutes. As advertised. Now I have plenty of storage along with the internal storage.

Was excited to test this thing out but looks like a little more investment in my desktop is required to truly experience the speed..

Got this for game storage, 4TB, insanely fast. Ill be up front, game load times in general arent affected much compared to my SATA 2.5 Crucial MX500, a few were noticeable, but I just like to have good PC parts. Also, this will probably be useful when DirectStorage is implemented into games.

Absolutely great for anyone looking to build a computer desktop. The speeds are blazing fast. Ran a few benchmarks and I am also getting similar numbers with everyone elses reviews (READS between mid-6,800s and high-6900s and WRITES around mid-5100s) Be sure your motherboard is compatible with Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSDs! I am currently using this for content creation purposes and as my primary boot drive. Overall, I would put this in the top 5 for best all-around PCIe Gen 4 SSD in budget and performance.
