> 3 dayThis is exactly what it says it is. According to my calipers the dimensions are pretty spot on. I ordered these to make a cpl knives for holiday gifts, just havent been able to get in my shop lately. Hopefully Ill be able to update with a photo of a finished knife soon made from this blade stock. Happy Shopping.

> 3 dayI am not a knife-maker -- yet! But these steel bars are exactly what I wanted. They appear to be just as they are advertised, and Im happy with them.

> 3 dayMaking knives? This 4 pack of flat steel bars is exactly the material to get. This 1095 stock is 12x1.5x0.12 in size and high carbon that has been rolled and annealed. When I opened the package, I noted it was in three different layers of rust proof oil and paper and then also bubble wrapped to help prevent damage and rust. I cannot imagine a better steel product for knife making or even using it in welding or as a spacer. It is a steal for the quality it brings too.

Greater than one weekwell the steel was blemish free, flat straight and rust free.. nice if your getting into blacksmithing! I would have no worries about ordering this item ! can I prove the material is what it claims to be ...no can I make a blade out of it and find joy in the journey.. Yes !

> 3 dayThis seems like good metal. I dont know how to verify its properties, but as I use it more, Ill update this if anything changes. Came wrapped well enough. You can see it was not cut up carefully, the ends are still rough with burrs, but not terrible. Couple dings here and there, but nothing that will cause a problem. Dont expect perfect pieces. So far I like it, would recommend.

16-11-2024I’m new to knife making and bought these blanks to practice some of the basics on. I have a friend who has made a few knives and told me to order this steel. So far I’ve only cut out a basic shape with my angle grinder and that part went OK. This being my first time using steel to fabricate a knife I have nothing to compare this particular steel to. So far all I can say is that I have not run not any problems using it.

> 3 dayThis is listed as 1095 steel flat stock, but we have doubts about that; it bends quite easily when annealed, unlike the 1095 of similar thickness and size that weve purchased from other sources. Annealed 1095 shouldnt bend at all unless youre using great force. We tested it by heat treating it in the same way we heat-treat any 1095 knife. In a temperature-controlled kiln and correct quenching oil, all at precisely the right temperatures for an exact temper, the resulting blade failed to achieve the same hardness and toughness as 1095 steel from our regular sources. Its well-priced, but Ive noticed that some mystery steels Ive received from Chinese sources at similiarly great prices behave this way--the percentages of carbon, nickel, and other metals can be slightly off. Not sure whats going on there, but the only way I would recommend this steel is as a beginning knifemakers practice steel before moving on to the real thing.
