03-06-2025My son bent a piece in half with his bare hands. He tried to forge one of the pieces into a knife, but it was too thin to work with very easily.

> 3 dayThese blanks came well protected with a shiny coating of oil to prevent rust. We will be making a knife from them as soon as time permits and will report back with pictures of the final product. So far they look like they will be perfect for the job.

> 3 dayThese knife blanks are just the right size for making knives from small to large. The knife in the picture was not made from one of these blanks. I just used it for a size reference as it is a large butcher knife. The steel arrived in good shape with no rust and it is straight and well cut with no sharp burrs. 1095 is a probably the most widely used steel in knife making and should harden and hold an edge well.

Greater than one weekThese are good blanks. They made decent knives.

Greater than one weekNice blanks. Came without any tarnish and are very flat with no deviation, oiled in wax paper and bubble wrap. I tried to bend one on the bench and it was very strong with minor flexing. All in all, worth the money. Time will tell how well they are when creating a blade, but we shall see. Worth it.

> 3 dayWhen this arrived I started thinking to myself how can I rate flat bar steel? Well as someone who welds and fabricates quite a bit of stuff around the house I can tell you this is very good quality. It arrived with a light coating of protective oil to keep it good during shipping. It was wrapping in wax paper and 3 layers of bubble wrap to protect it. When you have a company that takes the time to do their packaging like this you know it is going to be good. I mainly got this so my son could attempt to make his own knife. He has collected knives for several years and has wanted to attempt to make his own. After drawing a rough sketch that would fit the steel, he has been in the workshop most of the night working this metal. So far it is easy to work and he is making pretty good progress with it. Hopefully he will get it done soon and I can post some pictures of it for you all to see.

> 3 dayI’m new to knife making and bought these blanks to practice some of the basics on. I have a friend who has made a few knives and told me to order this steel. So far I’ve only cut out a basic shape with my angle grinder and that part went OK. This being my first time using steel to fabricate a knife I have nothing to compare this particular steel to. So far all I can say is that I have not run not any problems using it.

> 3 dayI wrote a review of this product some time ago, but it didnt post for some reason. Ill summarize my earlier post. Product arrived quickly and was packaged very well. Appears to be as described, though I havent done anything with them at this point. As some have noted, you wont be making large knifes with these blanks, but that isnt their intended use. I come from a line of Blacksmiths (father and grandfather). I did some hobby stuff in my youth, but went on to do other things for hobbies; mainly cars and woodworking. Due to the popular TV show, Im interested in getting back in to doing some steel work. I have my fathers manual forge blower, antique vise, tools, and anvil. Just need to work on the fire pit and i can get to work.
