This doesnt appear to be made of the same quality of materials as the OEM Makita sander pad. As others have mentioned, the screw holes were not quite large enough although I worked around that issue with only minimal effort. My biggest concern is how it will stand up to typical use -- not all that well, I suspect. At least it was cheap. I guess you get what you pay for. Next time, Ill buy the genuine OEM article.

I got this to replace the current sanding pad on a Makita rotary sander. The pad backing is made of cheap plastic and it lasted about 3 uses before the plastic wore down and the screws were no longer securing it to the unit. My takeaway? Pay a little more for a better replacement.

What the headline says. How difficult is it to get something this simple right? If I sound ornery, its because I am. The thing screws onto the sander through three holes. It should take half a minute. Except the holes are too small to accommodate the washers on the screws from the original Makita pad, and I couldnt get the washers off for the life of me. And of course the hardware store was closed when I got there to buy replacement screws and washers. Other than that this pad seems absolutely fine. Sanding discs stick to it, and Im looking forward to finishing the project I expected to finish today.

The text in the ad for this Makita hook and loop pad says that it will fit a Makita BO3050 ROS. It will, if you enlarge the holes for the 3 screws. The three attachment holes (as opposed to the 8 air holes) on the hook and loop side are too small. I didnt buy this pad to have to drill it out. It would probably not look good if I did that. Drill bits dont drill flat-bottomed holes. Forstner bits would do that, but I have none that small. The large hole on the backside of this pad is 1 and 3/32 inch in diameter, which is the right size for the Makita bearing box cap on the BO3050 random orbit sander. Also, as Amy G. has pointed out in another Amazon review, the three screw holes in the hard plastic backing of the hook and loop pad are not in the right position. They are too far from the center of the pad by about a millimeter or two. I did attempt to elongate these with a round file. A true Makita pad has holes for the three screws that are more like slots than perfectly round holes. There is no need to mess with the elongated holes on a true Makita pad. So, to make this pad fit a Makita BO3050, you will need to enlarge the 3 holes on the hook and loop side and you will need to elongate the same holes on the back side of the pad. I cannot recommend this product.
