Admittedly, we are not currently using this laptop for gaming, so this will be on the other aspects of the laptop.

I have owned this laptop for about 8 months. My only complaint is in regard to a problem nobody can fix. I cannot turn the graphics settings to max without overheating a bit. Let me be clear. No other laptop cools as well as this one. You will not get better. I will consider this line of laptops and its successors for as long as they keep this level of quality. Maybe one day we will stop concentrating on faster/more cores and threads and work on cooling solutions that matter. Again, if you want a gaming laptop under $2000, look no further. *Updated* There is a fan control next to the Start Button in Windows. There you can set the fans to Max. They are very loud but definitely cool this thing down even during heavy gaming. After a year, I am satisfied.

Based on several reviews I saw, I was hesitant to buy this laptop. I still decided to give this laptop a chance. Big mistake! After a week of using the laptop, the wireless driver randomly stopped working for no reason. Reinstalled the drivers, reinstalled windows, and still wireless drivers wouldnt work. I had no access to a wired connection for days, so eventually plugged it and updates fixed the issue. However, I returned the laptop to avoid such issue happening again. So I got a replacement and guess what? A week after using the replacement laptop, blue screen of death! Error message saying FAULTY_HARDWARE_CORRUPTED_PAGE. Unacceptable that two brand new Acer laptops have issues. The pictures speak for themselves. Though it restarted and seemed to work fine, I was not going to risk having faulty hardware. Acer customer service wanted to send it for repair, which would take 2-3 weeks to receive back. I decided not to deal with them and returned everything back to Amazon. Thankfully, everything happened within the return period and Amazons great customer service accepted with no issues. Instead, I bought the HP Omen 15 and couldnt be happier! Im sure Acer makes some good laptops, but this specific product has lots of issues! If you do end up getting this laptop with no issues, consider yourself lucky. It has great specs for the price. Start up is blazing fast. Upgrading hard drive and RAM is super easy. Screen is great except for that massive screen bleed. Oh and good luck dealing with the terrible thermals and loud fans. Had to reduce the processor power management (advanced settings on Edit Power Plan setting) by like 30-40% to achieve decent thermals. The good thing is Predator Sense software allows full control of fan speed. I apologize for the lengthy review but it had to be said. I suggest to save your money and invest in a better laptop if possible.

This computer can run games really smoothly and they look great, especially the resolution and 144 hrz monitor. but sadly, this pile of garbage is a glorified paper weight and runs EVEN MINECRAFT and GARRYS MOD super hot. once it gets up there in temperature which, even when the fans are set to max with coolboost on, the whole thing slows to a snails pace. this actually worthless (for gaming) computer is only good for the most casual of web browsing. it has a horrible cooling system, and the screen also bugs out every now and then. overall, this is not even worth 200 let alone the THOUSAND spent on it.

I have owned 3 Acer laptops now including the Nitro 5, and the one with the mx150 graphics card been a very loyal customer. I have never been so frustrated with a purchase from Acer. I feel as though I have been ripped off. Allow me to explain. I have owned the 2018 model Predator now for 3 months I have used it of and on for light gaming and noticed that temps would creep into the 90-95 c range after 30-45 min of play. no problem I thought I will under volt the CPU and the GPU , buy a cooling pad, and that should help a lot. It didnt. I use Predator Sense of course on full blast , and the temps still hover around the 89-92c range CPU and this is in a 72 degree room. I am not playing demanding titles either, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile . So out of fear of damaging the machine I will not use it to game. Acer made small improvements over the 2017 model in cooling but it is not good enough. now i am stuck with a 1000 dollar machine that tries to destroy its self every time I attempt to play a game.

Great value and quality for $999. I have upgraded the storage and RAM, this thing is a powerhouse that can run the top games at medium-high settings. 144hz screen looks amazing. The laptop does get hot when playing certain games or running at full capacity, but I used XTU to turn down the throttles a bit. I also purchased some thermal compound to improve the heat reduction. Perfect for mobile gaming, first Acer purchase, will likely purchase again.
