After I contacted acurite to verify that this 06009RMA1 Replacement Temperature Sensor was the correct one. I decided to purchase the used one and saved a few dollars. Why not? as the warranty and return policy are the same. It started sending as soon as I put the batteries in it. hopefully it will continue for a few years like the last one. Although the original was kept completely out of the rain and sun. I noticed considerable corrosion on the battery terminal (one). The circuits on the inside of the unit appeared to be fine....perfect actually. I cant say if the battery terminal was the reason for the failure but that is what I believe. It looked to be of stainless steel construction yet it had severe corrosion.

My weather station stopped reporting outside temps. A new sensor was needed and this one did the trick. Be sure to double check the proper match to your station as I almost bought the wrong one.

It lasts for years, this is my second one after about 10 years

These work well, but they do seem to be only accurate within +/- 1-2 degrees (using a FLIR IR thermometer as a baseline to compare). Good enough for my purposes though, it lets me know if something is probably comfortable or not, and gives me a sanity check if I feel hot/cold to see what it might be. Im using several of these to monitor temperatures and humidity in a few places around my house in a DIY home automation system. They work great using a RTL-SDR and free RTL_433 software to decode the sensor readings (just have to figure out which ID is which sensor powering them on one by one) and then I use Hassio Home Assistant to log and graph the readings. Its the least-expensive way Ive found to have temperature+humidity monitoring with long battery-life of a lot of sensors in a smart-home solution. The RTL-SDR is also on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/RTL-SDR-Blog-RTL2832U-Software-Defined/dp/B0129EBDS2/

Thrilled to find a replacement sensor for this indoor/outdoor weather station. I got this from my Dad after he died 13 yrs ago and the original sensor finally crapped out.

Ive never owned anything AcuRite. I dont even own the weather station you usually need to use with this. What I do own are several Raspberry Pis and an RTL_SDR. Getting this to be read couldnt have been easier. I simply installed rtl_433, and ran it. No commandline arguments required. In just a few seconds, it came back with the product identifier (a unique but static number that lets you distinguish one device from another), the temperature in Celsius, the humidity as a percentage, and the status of the battery (just a boolean value for either OK or not). This device sends out updates approximately every 15 seconds (though this varies by a few seconds each time; this is by design, to avoid packet collisions). The accuracy seems fine to me. When I got it, I stuck it beside our nest thermostat, and the temps were spot on. The humidity did read a few points low though, but I only care about the temps, so that doesnt matter to me that much. So far, Ive just been reading the temps manually, but eventually, I plan to write some scripts, or maybe just connect these to Home Assistant, to set up some alarms for when the garage is about to freeze, or for when the freezers are about to unfreeze. So far, Ive only put one in the garage, but Ive ordered a few more to monitor the fridges and freezers. For the price, you really cant go wrong.

This worked well with the indoor unit I purchased six years ago. I had placed the original outdoor sensor in a location that was not protected from weather so it needed to be replaced. My bad but nice to have it working again.

Finally, after 8 years of being out in New Jersey weather, the original unit failed. The inside wires from the circuit board corroded off, I believe because of the battery leaking. Purchased this one to replace the original one, and it is working perfectly. For some reason I needed to switch the default setting of C on the ABC switch to B, to get it to connect to the display unit. The failed unit was on C. Definitely recommend this replacement. A heck of a lot cheaper than purchasing a whole new setup.

We bought the AcuRite 02027A1 as an adjunct to a LaCross Weather Channel weather station. In north central Kentucky, readily available, good weather info. can be a valuable asset. The AcuRite station is 6 years old and we are on the third sensor since original purchase. The base unit has been great, but the sensors after 1 1/2-2 years fail and will not sync up with the base. We have our sensors in a protected location under the barn leanto. The LaCross, WC w/ Oscar, is about 11 to 12 years old and we are on the third sensor. this makes the LaCross a much more reliable station, but can no longer buy a replacement sensor. Be advised-read many reviews before buying any weather station! Sensors can be expensive.

What I needed to make my indoor unit read the temp outside again.

The Temperature and Humidity Sensor can be paired with a variety of compatible indoor digital weather stations (sold separately) to view current conditions at-a-glance, or it can be used with the AcuRite Access (sold separately), allowing you to monitor your sensor information from anywhere in the world using your smartphone, computer or tablet. The integrated hole allows you to easily mount your sensor outside or with a nail, which you can easily hang your sensor anywhere..
